So I found Erica when searching for someone to do my first postpartum haircut. Having a baby hanging off my hair 24/7, while also shedding a ton, I knew I needed a big chop. The first time I saw her, I went in for a mastic lob, and she did a pretty decent job. There were some pieces that needed to be touched up at home, but overall it was a nice haircut. While I was there, she mentioned that she could give me some highlights, something suuuuuper low maintenance that I could get touched up every 4-6m since it's hard to leave the house anymore. That sounded pretty good to me, having hair that had never been colored before. So I decided to return to Erica for color services and another haircut, having sold me on something low maintenance the previous visit. I showed Erica some photos of what my hair normally looks like after a summer of sun, and the general look I was going for (rooty, lived-in, beachy) I ended up getting a "partial" highlight, but was charged for her having to use two tubs of color, even though it was just a partial. Okay, that's fine. Looking at my hair initially after the cut and color, it was nice. Nothing crazy, until I got home and realized that it looked like I had ramen noodles sitting on top of my head, nothing blended or natural about it. It looked so dated, like the early 2000's called and wanted their hair back! Streaky, stripey, and kinda chunky in parts. My haircut was super uneven this time around, I had large parts of my hair missing in the back from the "layers" she tried to create to give me some movement, I didn't even try to fix it myself. After having showed her photos of what I wanted, I felt disappointed with how my hair had turned out, realizing it looked nothing like what I showed her. I didn't give her the chance to correct my hair, because in my book, it was kind of a 0/2 situation and I worried about what may happen given another chance. It's unfortunate, because I do feel like she is a very nice person and easy to get along with, and does do a lot of beautiful work, but she just wasn't for me, and that's okay. I went to another salon and had my hair fixed, and it's much more natural and blended now, exactly what I wanted. Update! I did want to post an update to this review. Not even 10 minutes after posting this, I did receive a super sincere text from Erica. To be completely fair, she had no idea I didn't like it, and I honestly didn't know until I got home. She offered me a full refund, zero questions asked. It's very clear that Erica cares deeply about her business and her clients satisfaction. I'm updating my review because not once did she ask me to remove or edit it, and that says a lot about her character. We even had a friendly chat about weekend plans after the fact. Again, Erica does some truly impressive work if you're going for bold and beautiful. I do believe if given another chance, she would do everything she could to fix it, and I admire that about her. read more
