I met Lena about a year and half ago, when I first moved to Fresno and I needed someone who was invested in helping me get the balayage I wanted. Shawn gave my hair a new meaning to life. He gave me ash brown highlights and layers, which gave it so much character. It was such a wonderful experience! First time here. Booked an appointment with Lena my hairstylist who I previously saw at another salon. The atmosphere was welcoming and the salon was clean. Location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. This is my second time booking an appointment with Lena in a year and she's just the sweetest thing. I usually only get one hair cut a year but because I'm at one year postpartum and my hair just won't stop shedding and it's gotten very long I just wanted to look like a human being again. The staff are so kind and so determined to get your hair right! I love this place and will continue to come back. Y'all can't escape me, deal with it. This is the 3 year anniversary of you destroying my hair. I want everyone to know how awful you were to me, and how much you ruined my hair. I came to you with virgin hair, and asked Michael to start the process of going blonde. He gave me skunk hair, chunky 90's highlights, blocky roots, and a general orange yellow color in place of a blonde color. I left a review right after this happened and David, the manager, left the most snarky response. You can tell none of these guys can take any type of constructive criticism. I wouldn't say they're narcissists because that might get my review flagged, but since they accused me of bullying them when I called and asked how this happened to me, who cares? Oh and also, on my last review David also accused me of not actually being a client because my yelp name is a nickname- feel free to look me up in your system- my name is Linnea Reed. I see that responding passive-aggressively to clients who aren't happy is common, from the other Yelp reviews that are lower-starred. This salon is by far the best salon I've ever been to. The staff is always nice and helpful. Feel like they have a great team working that truly put the customer first. I love how they always call the week of your appointment to remind you of your cut. Pedro has been cutting my hair for over two years and I I'm very satisfied with my hair and look. As a guy, it took me years to find a salon and barber that could trim and style my hair right. Once Pedro started doing my hair and later introduced me to the Brazilian, it was a game changer for sure. While it is true that there are often many sides to a story, yours is full of flagrant bullying to dismiss my experience and attempt to discredit me. Any other potential customers have the right to read about these interactions and be informed about the treatment you serve here. I am confused as to how postponing my appointment would be considerate of my personal time, as I had confirmed my appointment time with the receptionist days in advance and had already planned my day around that original appointment. I did not know that Joyene charged $75 dollars for a haircut before arriving at the salon. The Michael Blunt website does not specify this information and the receptionist I had spoken to on the phone when I made my appointment was unable to provide any information at the time of booking. I am very surprised to hear that Joylene felt I had "constantly badgered" her, and saddened to learn that is how she interpreted our conversation. As a new client unfamiliar with the options, I just asked if it were a possibility to skip the blowout services and if that would reduce the overall service rate. Joylene did not express any problems with skipping the blowout services, and as stated in my initial review, she shared that she was glad she could leave early since she wasn't going to do the blowout. It is the stylist's responsibility to educate the client about the reasons for certain services and I trusted Joylene's professional expertise. If Joylene knew that she would not be able to provide a proper haircut without a blowout, then she should have communicated that to me and declined to skip that part of the service. It is true that I wasn't able to see the damage to my hair until after it had dried, and that's what prompted me to call the salon back. This is also when I took the photos seen in my initial posted review (yes, that is indeed me!). I had a very negative experience here and it is not okay to bully me because I spoke out about it. I don't trust my hair to anyone but Holly. I have thick curly hair, and so does she. She knows how to cut it, how it will react to certain cuts, and is not afraid to tell me what will and will not work. She's helped me cut it several times, and also dye it with just some subtle low lights which I adore. The salon itself is upscale, with a full bar and some nibbles while you get your hair did. The staff is very friendly, and they have lots of products and even clothing to purchase should you be moved to. I've never felt pressured to get any of it, but it's there.
