My experience was fantastic, kind gentle staff. There is one staff member that had a really loud voice which in no way relaxing, thank goodness she and her ponytail were on break by the time I went to the donation room. Usually I've had a great experience in the past. However, today was a different story. I arrived on time for my appointment to a waiting room full of people, including one person waiting to check-in at the front desk. Both of us stood there waiting for at least 10 minutes. After I was checked in, I wasn't taken to the pre-screen room until 45 minutes after my appointment. Once pre-screening was completed, then I had to wait again because all of the beds were full! I finally began my donation one hour after my scheduled appointment time. Why were so many people able to schedule appointments around the same timeframe?? I'm happy to donate considering the blood shortage, but I was about ready to walk out. All of the employees were nice and apologetic about the wait time. I honestly feel bad for how overloaded their workload was. It's unfortunate that donating took OVER an hour, which is going to be a major deterrent when it comes time to donate again in the future. read more

This place is great, the staff is awesome. Great at what they do. Now I have a policy of not speaking too harshly of anyone who gives me cookies but if you happen to use the toilet there I would describe the quality of their toilet paper "service grade". Other than that five stars! read more

I've been giving blood here every few months for years. The staff are nice and friendly and the overall experience is easy and efficient.

Love donating blood and platelets here, everyone is so friendly and kind and supportive. Not to mention that they are doing vital work in our community. Their website will give you lots of reasons to give blood or platelets or plasma or bone marrow...the need is so critical for people of all ages and for research being conducted at area hospitals and medical centers. Plus it's perhaps the only time (except possibly when you're on an airplane) that you are likely to be offered a V-8 juice. O positive! read more

They WON'T STOP CALLING ME! I just looked through my phone records. 425-732-3247 calls me literally every single day at least twice a day. I blocked them but they still show up in my "recents" on my phone so I still know when they have called even though my phone no longer rings. I've reported them to the FTC and am on the DoNotCall list. Donating blood is important. Spamming your customers is NOT the way to get them to come back! I go to a different place to donate now. Bloodworks Northwest and Puget Sound Blood Center are OFF the list! read more

I find it amusing that when I go to have blood drawn at the hospital it takes three nurses to get me. Here they got me in one swift stick. Just a few minutes and I'm a bag of blood lighter. They make donating a simple and nearly painless process. Plus they give you pretty bandages, cookies and juice. :) read more

Bloodworks comes to North Seattle College from time to time. Whenever I see an opportunity to donate blood at school I try to, but I had a horrendous experience. I went to donate my blood, and I tend to have poor circulation from time to time, I think this was a sign to send me away(as I now know) but instead they warmed my hands and squeezed my arms to get the sample. It was about 5 minutes just to get the sample. I had some snacks and layed down on the chair waiting to give my donation. I heard the nurse and another much newer nurse talking about whether or not the new nurse was skilled enough to draw my blood yet. Don't know about you, but I don't feel like being a guinea pig, but I trusted that these were professionals that knew what they were doing. I also have a high pain tolerance, but they chose a vein it wasn't sticking out very well. They proceeded to move the needle around back and forth in the vein for several minutes. The needle was left in a way that felt very uncomfortable. I have had needles in my arm before, but have never felt it be so painful. I told the nurse that it hurt a lot and that it usually doesn't hurt this much, to which she explained "Well you are aware that you have a needle in your arm right now, right?" Which was extremely condescending, acting like I am an idiot. They pulled the needle early because I wasn't drawing enough blood. They shouldn't have taken me in when my blood wasn't coming out enough for a sample, but instead the proceeded to take me in and make me go under so much discomfort and pain before deciding not to go through with it. After all of this, I was left with an aching, bruised vein for weeks before it healed. I have done this before, and I have never been bruised or had pain past 24 hours. Overall, I was left feeling scarred and unwilling to donate blood due to this horrific experience. I don't know who the hell these nurses think they are, but they are far from professional and are horrible at their job. read more

We have mixed feelings about this place. We are regular donors at this location. The donation process is reasonably quick and easy. The staff are nice, and though they are in a hurry, they accommodate your needs as necessary to get the blood flowing (blankets, warm bottles etc). My major complaint about them is that their scheduling is borderline harassment. They without fail call repeatedly to schedule appointments as soon as you are eligible to donate again. I would suggest they tone down their aggressive calls, but otherwise this is a good place to make a donation. read more

Absolutely phenomenal staff members and volunteers that know what they are doing. This is my first time donating blood at this location. They out dazzled my expectations. The last time I donated I did so at the blood truck parked by my work by Swedish hospital. I must say it kind of sucked since the 16 gauge needle that that tech stuck in my arm was placed in such a way that it kept vibrating and was sore the whole time and bruised bad. I have huge veins. It shouldn't be that hard. I was expecting the same thing when I came here but thought that getting blood to those in need was worth a little pain. IT WAS PAINLESS!! AND THE PEOPLE WERE FRIENDLY!!! the north seattle office of PSBC has my fave staff. always friendly and chatty, and they know what they're doing. maybe it's just that I was always in there on weekends and got some of the younger staff, but they were just the most fun and interesting to talk to. the biggest knock against it is only have two apheresis machines, it's a bit tougher to get in there for platelets or plasma donations. the parking situation isn't ideal either, if it gets busy you may be parking up the block. but otherwise, it's an exceptional example of what PSBC has to offer. read more

While most of the staff is nice enough, I find the snack lady rather rude. She guards the snacks (which are DONATED) as if they are part of a prison commissary and acts as if I am there with the intention of stealing (did I mention the snacks are DONATED?). She rarely smiles and sits in front of the refrigerator where the drinks are stored so I must ask her for drinks. When I walk to the snack table after giving blood, I am treated like I am a greedy school child trying to sneak an extra goodie. read more

Their phone calls ARE harassment. Last i spoke to PSBC i told them i was ineligible to give blood due to a current medication i'm taking. It's been a month since i told them that and they indicated my records would be updated. In the last week they've called my work phone 16 times and my cell phone 7. My initial experience donating blood here was fantastic. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the process was painless. I had such a great experience and was excited to return and donate again the next month. However, around the date of my expected return, I found out I was pregnant and therefore couldn't donate blood. After a few weeks, I started getting calls (both robocalls and real people) asking me back to donate again. At first, I ignored the calls, as they were usually voicemails left while I was at work. Then, I started getting multiple calls per day (the most I ever received was 12 during one workday). I finally called back and asked to be taken off their call list. This worked for about four months, and then the calls started again. I called back and asked again that I be taken off the list. I explained that I was pregnant and couldn't donate blood for the time being. The response of the representative I spoke to was to ask when I was due and they would start calling again then. This really freaked me out - not only was it just creepy, but breastfeeding women are also not advised to donate blood. I asked that they never call me again, to which they haven't thankfully, but I'm nervous about returning and beginning this cycle over again. read more
