Donating platelets is so hot right now...
    Chris H.

Love donating blood and platelets here, everyone is so friendly and kind and supportive. Not to mention that they are doing vital work in our community. Their website will give you lots of reasons to give blood or platelets or plasma or bone marrow...the need is so critical for people of all ages and for research being conducted at area hospitals and medical centers. Plus it's perhaps the only time (except possibly when you're on an airplane) that you are likely to be offered a V-8 juice. O positive!

I've been giving blood here every few months for years. The staff are nice and friendly and the overall experience is easy and efficient.

Tanya came…read moreacross as very mechanical on the phone, repeatedly asking the same questions even after I had already provided the information. Despite giving my phone number three times, she was unable to enter it correctly, which was concerning. Furthermore, she asked me to register one more time bc she was unable to locate my file due to her own inability to enter the number correctly. The interaction became more difficult when she started arguing instead of helping move the process forward. When I suggested she look up my physician's name, she told me to call back later with spelling of the name which would require me to wait in the queue one more time. She refused assisting me at that point, and was arguing with me so I had to ask her to stop so we could simply complete the registration and not waste more time. I understand that large hospital systems can sometimes struggle with customer service consistency, but this level of inefficiency and lack of professionalism was disappointing. I hope additional training can help improve patient experience moving forward.

I spoke to a patient navigator (so kind and so helpful) for a second opinion appointment. They did some rescheduling in a timely manner to get every doctor to come in back to back. This was scheduled for 5 hours. It sounds grueling but it was great! They have food available on site; a clean facility and doctors who walk in prepared and who truly care. Incredibly, they threw in two extra compared to a rural cancer center: a speech therapist and a surgeon. The hypopharnyx cancer my dad has is not recommended to have surgery BUT the doctor explained that it's good to meet so she and her team are available if other surgical interventions need to quickly come into play at some point even though the risk is low. That's amazing! The speech therapist was also surprising, once we met with each specialist, it was clear this is a well run, organized and thoughtful center for the best care possible. They asked really good questions, let us ask ours and we never felt rushed. They explain in detail what is to come and it was reassuring that they are specialists rather than generalists in their department. They work with you to support you during side effects, to find housing and transportation, they have a phone number to call for everything you might need. They are clear in communication from everything phone call and have been well mannered with common sense at every interaction. They really have everything you need and partner with the best medical school - university of Washington. Do note, you can end up working with residents so I am anticipating that popping up at some point. I am looking forward to my dad receiving his treatments here and know they are working hard to get everything complete and start up as soon as possible. Thank you Fred Hutch! I will return with an update as treatment gets underway. I hope to stay impressed along this journey.

When my longtime PCP left Kaiser several months ago, I wondered whether I would be able to find another doctor with the same level of dedication and mutual respect that I value in a physician-patient relationship. Today I met Dr. Martin Levine and came away very impressed. He is an exceptional listener and was fully present during our visit. His questions about my medical history and current health were thoughtful and specific rather than routine or generic. What impressed me most was the thoughtfulness of his clinical judgment--his questions clearly reflected a careful effort to understand the full picture of my health. His manner was relaxed, professional, and genuinely caring, and I left the appointment feeling confident that my health is in very capable hands. I feel fortunate to have found Dr. Levine and am very pleased to call him my primary care physician.

Dr. Globerman is a wonderful caregiver and carefully helps us orchestrate the specialist care we need from time to time as we age. His nurse, Richard, is a very efficient fellow who apologizes for any waiting periods, keeps us informed and covers the intake bases to allow Dr. G to spend quality time with me. Learning to navigate the KP system can be a bit challenging, but just a short period of looking through the websites and it becomes clear how to get what I need. We are blessed to have such good care. Anyone complaining about KP hasn't done their homework. We analyze the Medicare options in great detail each year and KP is very competitive on price, but our healthcare team continues to deliver great care! Thanks so much.
