So based on my Google search I chose Melissa at Bloom for my transformation from then to now. I wanted a modern long shag from just long hair and was looking for a culture that was easy going and not focused on the upsell aspect we are all accustomed to. Seriously, do it. I live across the country but came over to Pittsburgh to meet up with all my vendors a few months before my wedding. I met with my stylist at bloom at we tried out a few different styles. I decided which I liked best and discussed this with the stylist. When it came down to wedding day, when my hair was finished it was not the style that I had requested. It was an emotional day and I was a little distraught when the stylist blamed the miscommunication on me. It didn't seem like she would be willing to re-do it, so I went for some fresh air. My MOH apparently talked with the stylist and she agreed that we could re-do it in the style I was hoping for. It turned out exactly as I had hoped and I loved it! The only reason for four stars instead of 5 is because I felt that my interactions with the stylist made things a bit more stressful than they needed to be. read more

Bridgette attended me today and did a great job! I was there for a haircut and blow dry. She not only took care of that but also explained the products and the reason she was using it. All the products used are sulphate free -Kevin Murphys. She also used minimal heat as I mentioned that my hair was delicate. I was offered tea, coffee and wine when I got here. I've been in need of a good highlight and cut and I've just been putting it off and changing my mind and swapping salons and stylists. Somehow I always came back to stalking bloom's stylists on Instagram. Finally, Emily posted a brassy to beautiful blonde transformation and I JUMPED! I made an appointment easy as pie on their varago site. Waiting a whole week almost killed me, hahah! It was worth the wait. Emily did an amazing job foiling toning and cutting my previously brassy and sad droopy dog hair. Emily worked her magic and I got the results I was looking for. She was so kind, when she got to the section of hair near my cloth mask, she provided me with a disposable mask so mine wouldn't get bleach on it. So thoughtful! I've been looking for a good salon for a while and heard really good things about bloom. Scheduling online is easy and straightforward. I booked with Erin for a Saturday morning appointment. When I arrived I was impressed by the cool vibe and decor. The shop is also ver clean. Check in was easy and I had to wait for a few minutes but was asked if I wanted anything to drink while I waited. Erin was super friendly and thoughtful. I told her what I wanted and she asked some questions. I have wavy/curly hair and it kind of has a mind of it's own. Erin asked my styling routine- I told her I scrunch my hair and then let it air dry. Since I don't use any heat she decided to cut my hair dry and then wash and style it. I have never had a stylist dry cut my hair but it makes so much sense to see how it will actually look. I think that made a huge difference from other hair cuts I've had. I do have to admit it's a little shorter than I wanted but that's my fault for not being more specific. After a few days and figure out a new routine I really like the cut! All the staff I interacted with were kind and helpful. I really liked the energy of this salon and will definitely be back for my next haircut. read more

I used to go to Motive (same ownership) but on a whim decided to try Bloom one day when I couldn't get an appointment at Motive. I have now been to Bloom twice to see Ashley McGovern who honestly is the best hair stylist I have ever had. She takes her time starting with the consultation at the beginning of the appointment, really lets you establish your boundaries and makes you feel super comfortable. She takes her time with the cut itself, I have truly never had more symmetrical even looking layers or gotten more compliments on my hair since seeing her! I won't be going to any other salon or any other stylist for quite some time! Bloom is a cute and welcoming environment, usually playing great music and the staff have a great vibe, and I cannot more highly recommend Ashley as a stylist!! read more

Honestly the best salon experience I've had in a long time. I work very early in the morning and don't have time to put on make up. Ali recommended brow lamination and a lash lift that would streamline my makeup routine. Now I wake up and don't have to apply any make up at all. My eyebrows are the perfectly shaped and my eyelashes are fuller and longer than ever. The beauty parlor itself is beautifully designed and super clean. I had a fantastic haircut here last month and would high recommend this place to anyone! My hair is long and on the thicker side and my stylist, Noelle, had fantastic ideas for improving the way it frames my face and adding some layers. She also said I could make appointments solely to trim my bangs, which is a huge plus. The space is gorgeous with lots of plants and doesn't feel crowded at all. (I hate feeling packed together while getting my hair done.) They offer you tea, coffee, or wine while you wait and everyone is super friendly. I went in for light bright pink hair and got dark fuchsia hair. My hairdresser and I discussed the color and I wanted but she decided to go dark without telling me because I'm a swimmer and she wanted it to take longer to fade? I guess? I understand the logic but I wish she had just talked to me about it and we could've avoided this. A solid four inches of hair is absolutely fried and crunchy and there's brown hair scattered throughout the back and my roots are funky. They did offer me a complimentary deep conditioning treatment and a refund though, and my hairdresser offered to discuss paths to fix my hair, so I appreciate that. Their atmosphere is nice and the employees are lovely, I just had the wrong color put on my hair. read more

I've gotten two haircuts here (by Deanna) since Covid and they were both stellar. Everyone has their masks on and it feels really safe. I'm trying to grow my hair out, so the cuts weren't super complicated. They were, nevertheless, perfect. And the blow outs were next level. Bloom carries Kevin Murphy hair products... Although I don't want to admit it, Kevin Murphy products really do make a difference for me and they're impossible to buy online (there are way too many knockoffs to sort through). Also the vibe in Bloom is really nice, every one is laid back and easy to talk to. Highly recommend. read more
