We read through many reviews to find just the right place to have dinner our last night in Dublin, and Bloom Brasserie turned out to be the perfect choice. As James Joyce fans we loved the name as well. An atmospheric space with stone walls, dimly lit with real candles, Bloom is beautiful without being pretentious. Warm welcoming service by Paraic and Breege throughout the evening. First we sampled their homemade brown bread, absolutely divine. We both started with foie gras and toast which was smooth, creamy and utterly yum. My local duck breast with spinach and potato main was very flavorful and a generous portion. Partner's mushroom risotto was a bit cheesier than he generally prefers but he said it was still very good. We were too full for dessert but were comped shots of Bailey's Irish Cream, a perfect ending. Paraic even called a taxi for us afterward, such a lovely gesture. We'll definitely return to Bloom Brasserie next time we're in Dublin, and recommend them highly. read more

Gorgeous little spot, really cozy and warm inside with wonderful seating and lighting. Staff was attentive and kind, made sure to check in and see if I was enjoying my meal. I was. Bloom was fantastic - We had a number of dishes, the only one that stood out as a bit of a disappointment was the prawn appetizer, which came with much smaller prawns than anticipated. The mains however, were fantastic, and the restaurant was accomodating to some pretty strict dietary restrictions which we greatly appreciated. The mains were the Ribeye and the Duck, both came out perfect, I highly recommend the Duck. We did also have the baileys shot to close out the night, would recommend this restaurant. read more

Our experience at the Bloom Brasserie was amazing! We started with some nice cocktails an old fashioned and a Ha' Penny which was beautiful with crushed flowers on top! The food was delish starting with the brown Irish soda bread that had sunflowers which gave it a great taste! I had the salmon special which was on roasted potatoes and broccolini with a lemony glaze, it was awesome! My husband had the scallops with fresh lima beans and black pudding glaze. He also had garlic potatoes and roasted carrots that were delicious! Our server was very friendly and helpful. We were too full for dessert but he gave us a couple of chilled Bailey shots for fun! Our last meal while visiting family in Dublin. Very romantic space underground. The locked bottles of wine are a nice backdrop. They had a nice selection of wine by the glass, allowing us to try a few different types. The servers were attentive and lovely. My steak was ordered medium rare and was over cooked. Consistently Exquisite! During our two different visits, eight months apart, we went to Bloom Brasserie for lunches, dinner and a number of happy hours. Every single time, we were greeted warmly by Ross, the friendly manager who remembered us even when we hadn't been there for more than half a year. Quite remarkable. And we can't say enough good things about the food, which is wonderfully prepared, and the excellent wine selection. We're planning to make Dublin our gateway to other parts of Europe, and we'll definitely return every single time to Bloom. read more

We enjoyed a great meal here after a recommendation from a coworker. The menu has your staple items but slightly elevated to bring new flavours and culinary experiences. Cocktails were enjoyed by my party along with the liver pâté accompanied by apple chutney. It was sweet and savoury. Customer Service was excellent save for forgetting one of our sides after suggesting we try the cabbage chorizo. Our mains were large enough to be filling so we didn't ask for it again. My main was the lamb chops, fresh in season, topped with a port jus and sautéed king scallops (an add on topping). Puréed garlic potatoes with greens were delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My companions enjoyed their dishes of the seafood catch of the day, a baked cod with asparagus; and the beef filet with truffle mashed potatoes and spinach. I had a delightful bite. The frosting on the cake was they brought a complimentary dessert for the birthday lady, unique and fun. It was a great evening and I would definitely return for a celebratory meal again. read more

Lovely experience here. Interesting neighborhood next to a canal. Interior of the restaurant is very well outfitted and comfortable.Negroni cocktails were excellent. "Mature" 3 cheese plate was delightfully stinky with tasty accompaniments. Our mains, salmon and cod special were spectacularly flavorful, fish perfectly cooked; moist and satiny. They serve a number of vegetables with the protein- which we loved. Again, perfectly prepared. A good Crumble, espresso and tawny port wrapped up the meal very nicely! Based on positive reviews, I decided to have my first meal at Bloom during my trip to Dublin. Despite the ambience being quite cozy, and ONE of our waitresses being lovely and attentive, the food was a disappointment. We had high expectations, and they weren't met, not even close. The food was decent, but nothing special, and this is not a restaurant I would recommend. It certainly didn't help that one of our waitresses was extremely rude. I'm not sure her intent was to be rude, but she was absolutely clueless as to how to provide an exceptional dining experience. At 150€ for two people, I would expect a much better overall experience, and I would most certainly expect, at the very least....delicious food. Sadly, this restaurant missed the mark. read more

Came here for lunch - they have some specials but I guess it's a little on the pricier side for lunch. The server was really nice and made small talk with us. He was also nice enough to switch some parts of my order: I got the Pulled pork chorizo sandwich (YUM) and asked for the goat cheese to be switched with brie. Oh my goodness it was delicious. That was definitely a good choice. Also ordered an Americano which was not half bad. Definitely willing to come back for lunch in the future to try some of the other selections. read more

After eating pub food the entire trip, my partner and I decided that it was time to eat something different. A stroll down the ways, we found this nice little eatery. Tucked down the stairs is a small little restaurant that was not in a pub like setting. The menu read appetizing and it was a must to try. As we headed into the restaurant, it was empty with two other patrons eating. Yet the hostess wouldn't let us seat a table that we wanted to choose from. I wanted to sit at a table for 4, as the table for 2 was a bit crowded. Yet this table was for reservations, as the hostess mentioned. Come on now, at this late time and with so many OPEN TABLES, I don't think it would have mattered. Yet, she was persistent. What made the matter a little more irritating was that another couple was sat in a table for 6 after us. Other than that, the food was okay. I ordered the chicken liver appetizer. It was bland and needed more flavor. The chicken dish that I ordered was fine, yet not memorable. Overall, it was a good break from the pub food that we ate the entire trip. Yet, with the pub food having more flavor and taste, it would have been a better option. read more

Love this place, great little find! Doesn't have a lot of road frontage, just watch out for the cream doorway & entrance lined with trees, on entering it's down a flight of stairs into a really warm dining space and nice bar area. Staff are quick to greet you and whilst it's busy, I've been able to do walk in without any issues. The food is amazing, great value menu plus early bird and set menu options... I've dined here with a group plus separately with just the hubby and on both occasions have left super happy... There food has been on both occasions great quality and so flavoursome. Of their lunch menu, the stand out dish for me was the Chicken Pappardelle. From the evening menu, the muscles from the starter, what great taste and value was the portion is very generous so makes for even a great starter to share. On closing out the time I was there for dinner, we were given a complimentary Bailey's on ice at the end and also invited to join their VIP programme, which can I say is great,.. offer's like free meal in the month of your birthday, free starter or dessert offers plus even got emailed a great 2 for 1 lunch offer, love it! It's definitely making returning a no brainer, this place is great for a full meal but if you also just fancy a small plate and catch up with friends, it's also a nice wine bar to relax in. read more

Bloom Brasserie, Upper Baggot Street, City Centre South. You are familiar I'm sure with the famed Tardis - the ship belonging to Dr. Who which looks small and unimposing from the outside yet marvellous and spacious on the inside? Well, Bloom Brasserie is similar; from a small almost unpromising doorway you go down steps into a beautifully bedecked and nicely lit space. It immediately says to the customer "you're gonna like this... quite a lot" (to misquote Paul Daniels.... You remember; the magician guy?... short? Hot wife?...oh forget it). Anyway, the setting is great, the wine-list a very healthy mix of new and old world at reasonable prices and they do a house cocktail with procecco/sparkling wine and a sweet liqueur - off hand I cant remember what it is...actually I cant remember on-hand either, you'll just have to order one... totally worth it! On to the menu and it is a short one; all of 8 or 9 mains with the same in starters. The food ranged from whole sea bass which was exceptionally good to duck, fillet of beef a few veg options and a corn-fed chicken (€18) which was superb. We didn't have starters but they looked and smelled great as I looked longingly at the table next to us cursing my decision to go without. The restaurant has a great little patio area out the back where they can seat 25 (so not that small) and they have a tapas menu they offer out there, for a sunny summers eve such as we had once last month there will be no where like it to try out the house cocktail (really...it was very good). Desert, when we finally elected to have it (well, we needed something to accompany the last of the excellent Itallian A'bruzzo red we were knocking back) got a mixed reception. The chocolate fondant was (and I do not exaggerate) sublime. The crème-brule was not to be sniffed at and the coffee very good indeed, however I would take issue on the portions on the cheese board, at €3 a shot I would expect more than a portion the size of my medium sized thumb, but that is exactly what we got. The veg portions for the main course were similarly petite, so fill up on bread, they offer some excellent stuff that arrives soon after you are seated. All in all - a worthwhile dining experience. Out overall experience was wonderful! We were taken good care of since the second we stepped into the place. The place itaelf is in the basement, but the atmosphere is so nice and cozy that you forget about it. The food was amazing, nicely presented and the portions were huge, we barely had room for the dessert. The only thing that wasnt great was the bread, me and my partner both thought it wasnt fresh. Love Bloom, have been a fan for a couple of years now. Situated on Baggot Street you have to go downstairs as you enter the restaurant. Really great for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant is very well run by the Owner who is also the Head Chef and serves up fab food every time. There is a beautiful seating area out the back of the restaurant where you can enjoy tapas in the sun (whenever it graces our lovely country with its random and limited presence!). Great selection of wines, my favourtie house cocktail of champagne and fangelico, they have a bar too so you can enjoy other drinks before or after your dinner. On the menu, Gambas and Foie Gras are amazing, TBone and fish dishes are beautifully cooked and presented. Before these you will also be served with some fresh house made bread. And then there's my favourite part, which I quite often feel like having for starters...the Belgian Chocolate Soup, yes soup! and its devine. I was in a little hurry last time so the waitor (I think his name is Adrian, he's there all the time and is fab at his job!) prepared an Apple Crumble to take home with me which I enjoyed smothered in hot custard later that evening. There's not many places I go back to again and again but this is definately one of them. The chips are excellent here too- crispy deliciousness. I've also had the steak frites, which was good, but not out of this world good. I definitely preferred the sandwich. I have signed up for these daily deals by email and one came along a week or two ago for the Bloom Brasserie. Three tapas dishes for €10. So I checked out Yelp first and then decided I'd give the place ago. After walking in, I was impressed with the stylish decor and the atmosphere was a nice chilled subtle restaurant buzz. After a quick glance to the tapas menu, we realised there wasn't a huge choice, but this can be good when trying to decide what to have (and I am always suspicious of restaurants that try to provide way too much choice, quality usually suffers). So I opted for the goats cheese salad, the sautéed chicken liver and the chorizo sautéed potatoes. My partner went for the garlic herb sautéed potatoes, the confit duck leg and the sautéed chorizo garlic mushrooms. By far the nicest dish was the confit duck leg, this was yummy. The worst dish was the chicken liver which was raw in the centre. I know its ideally served rare, but this was too rare. The other dishes were fine, too much garlic used in all of them (including the garlic and herb potatoes). Overall very disappointing for a tapas experience and I am glad we only paid €20 for all six dishes, I would have been very p-off if I had paid full wack. The music went from being okay to being odd... Had walked past here a few times but recently decided to drop in and see what it was like. It's only the one little door in, where you go down the stairs to a small bar by the looooong dining room. It's a dim lit classy looking place. I treated myself to the Black bean and redcurrent risotto with parmesan shavings and a wee glass of wine because sure why not ! It was delicious!!! I'm a sucker for risotto it's rare I wouldn't order one if it was on the menu, and this was up there :) Staff very welcoming food was great, pretty quick to come out aswell. Myself and 3 of my friends ventured here for the bottomless brunch last weekend. Having been to numerous bottomless brunches in London I had high standards. Upon arrival I was so impressed by the decor and friendly staff. The brunch menu was to die for I wanted to try everything... went with the smash and eggs and it did not disappoint. However I was a little underwhelmed by the bottomless prosecco.. I felt this is what drew us in, but it did not live up to the expectations. The waiters poured the prosecco rather than leaving the bottle at the table. This resulted in us waiting to be refilled on numerous occasions... hard to know if you're getting value for money really. I was pleasantly suprised by this little place. It was right around the corner of our hotel and we were hungry (and tired of bar food) so we stopped in. I had duck confit. Seasoned perfectly and cooked so the meat just fell off the bones. I recommend it to anyone stopping in. read more

Always happy to see a new eaterie on Baggot Street but a little dubious, because nothing seems to last in this spot. It was Ouzo's for a while then something else, can't remeber the name, so I was a little skeptical of Bloom Brasserie. I was pleasantly pleased when we went downstairs. I expected the dark space that was there before but they've opened out into a lovely patio too. Really nice. For lunch I had the "Ballontine Of Fermanagh Chicken, Pui Lentils, Caramelised Red Onions, Thyme Jus" - sounds fancy, well it was just €11 and it was delicious. Really lovely. Had a perfect creme brulee to finish me off too. I'm going back to Bloom's... I just hope it's still there! read more

I went here on a Friday a few weeks ago using a deals voucher. Myself and my dining partner were instructed we could choose any starter, main course and dessert from the menu even with our voucher. The chicken liver was tasty, scallops are amazing, my friends tuna was delicious but the star of the show was the chocolate and hazelnut soup which was among the nicest desserts I've ever been served in a restaurant. Visited Bloom Brasserie this evening and indulged in their 16oz Ribeye with a glass of house wine for €30, well all I can say is WOW.... The beef was cooked to perfection, Medium Rare my favourite!! The homecut fries that came with it were amazing. The service was excellent with Padraig giving is a very warm welcome as soon as we walked down the stairs. Anthony was also extremely helpful and friendly. I know that a lot of people are afraid to walk down a stairs into a basement restaurant, but this place really is a fabulously laid out restaurant with fabulous ambience. The background music was just perfect, as was the lighting. So if you're going to take my advise on which restaurants to visit in Dublin City, make this your first port of call, because after leaving here, you will not want to done anywhere else. Padraig was telling us that the have just restyled the restaurant, and I have to say they've done an excellent job. Will definately be coming here a lot more often. My meal here was really fantastic. I had dinner here with a friend and her mother. It had a really cool atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. It felt trendy but not so much so that we felt out of place. There was also a saxophone player that night who was entertaining and nice. We were there for probably almost 2 hours. My meal was delicious and although it seemed like our waitress was fairly new, she was friendly, helpful, and attentive. I'd definitely recommend making reservations. read more
