I have been using this family-owned car shop for all of our families vehicles for nearly 20 years. The owner Francis is phenomenal! His team does their best to keep costs minimal. He was recommended to me by a friend whose family had been using them for years. I had an estimate for nearly $2,000 worth of work from 2 reputable shops in West Hartford but decided to give it a shot at Bloomfield garage. They did the repair for half the cost and my Audi Quattro ran great for another decade. Another friend of mine had a Saturn which the dealership had told him 2 scrap. I recommend it Bloomfield garage he went in and they were able to repair the car for a reasonable price and he drove it for almost another five years. I live over 50 miles away from the shop now that I've moved and I will still drive up to Bloomfield because I know the job will be done right. This garage has been a fixture in Bloomfield ever since cars were invented. Well, almost! Anyway, they do two things, and they do them both well. First is repair. This is a family-run place, with a combination of street smarts, experience,and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. They do a great job, won't tell you it's done until they're satisfied with the work. They also don'tlook at the most expensive soultion right away. I brought my baby - a '06 Taurus - this morning for a new starter. They were aware that I'd had problems with this particular part in the past, but before replacing it outright, wanted to see how it worked if they cleaned the battery cables first. In this case, it was definitely the starter. I brought it at 7:45, and drove out at 8:20. This is probably not typical, but it does show their response to loyal customers. The second thing they do well is sell pre-owned cars. They have anywhere from 20 to 30 cars on the lot, with extremely fair prices. I bought my Taurus there, and while driving onto I-91 this morning, it hit the 200,000 mile mark...YAayayaya! Anyway, since they are mechanics, they thoroughly inspect each car before they bring it in, so you can be confident you're not getting a lemon. Most of the cars are reasonably late-models too. Definitely worth checking into if you're in the market for a good used. read more

We had to go here for repair to our 2002 Neon, when we could not afford the $120.00 tow back to Vernon and our usual repair shop. Turns out it was the timing belt and they fixed that along with other belts. Although they said they filled the coolant, and made mention of oil leaks in engine they let us drive away with no oil and no coolant as we had to add both within 2 hours of leaving their establishment. When questioned they mumbled something about an "air bubble"...the oil leak turned out to be that we needed a new head gasket. Which they could have easily done when they did everything else, but chose not to. I don't know how these other reviews got written, but on my recommendation, stay far, far away from this place. read more
