    Empty electric power steering reservoir
    William L.

The wife and I stopped by Harte Infiniti in Hartford one early Saturday afternoon to look at a 2015 QX60 in their inventory. We were met by Hasham Chaudhry who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Once the wife and I decided the vehicle was something we were very interested in, the sales team wanted to rush and seal the deal that day. I told them let's wait, get it in good order and cleaned and we can close the deal during the week. But oh no, let's do this now, staff is on hand ready to please. So we waited over 5 hours for Service to get everything ready as it was being sold as Certified Pre-Owned and over to the detail department. By the time we left, it was dark and I didn't get a chance to check under the hood to make certain everything was good. The next day I popped the hood to find the oil overfilled, the coolant reservoir bone dry, the electric power steering fluid reservoir bone dry, both air and cabin filters completely covered in filth and corrosion on the battery cables. Looking over the CPO checklist, these things were marked off as reviewed and in good order. I was surprised because the vehicle had less than 15,000 miles! It appears they completely skirted, or rushed the inspection to get us out the door that Saturday. The next Saturday I brought it in to have all the items addressed by the service department. When I re-checked the fluid levels, I found the electric power steering fluid overfilled. I asked the Service Manager about the level and said he'd have the lead technician look at it. The lead tech glanced at it and said "yeah, it's fine." I promptly went home and removed the overfilled fluid to the correct level. So I have zero confidence in their service department. Too bad my experience went downhill because the sales folks were very friendly and accommodating. The final insult to injury is they only give you a half tank of gas for a CPO purchase. Pretty surprising for a premium brand with a loftier CPO price.

We stopped at Hoffman Porsche on a whim just to see what cars they had on the lot. We were greeted by Silvio, who took the time to learn what we were interested in and what would work for us. With Incredible courtesy and without pressure he showed us a few cars. After test driving a Taycan 4s, I gave him my trade in data and asked him to make me a fair offer for both a trade in as well as the Taycan. By the time I got home, he had emailed me everything needed and the next day we drove down with our car and a bank check to purchase the Porsche. In all of my years of buying many cars, this was by far the easiest, most professional and best experience I have ever had. We were introduced to the GM and service manager, who helped complete the process. I highly recommend this dealer, and I hope to do business with them again for my next car!!!

This is after I had signed the purchase contract. Another sleeze move...You know how the dealers want a finance person to "Meet with You" so they can pressure you into accepting high margin add-ons? In the old days, it was rust-proofing that actually voided the manufacture's warranty? She would not send me the Closing Paperwork ahead of time! Why give the customer a chance to prepare when sleezy dealers can ambush them? BMW National should be ashamed of the Hoffman Auto Group.

(TLDR: Horrible, low-knowledge customer service, that has me considering other vehicles.)…read more We all hear the old adage about dealerships... "They're over-priced!", "Aggressive up-sells and fear tactics", blah blah blah... in this case, it is absolutely true. Went in for a safety recall a few months back, and immediately the up-sells start: timing belt, valve adjustment, brakes/rotors, everything under the sun. I said no, just do the recall. Then, the phone calls and inspection videos start. "You really need this, you really need that", with price estimates that would literally make your eyes water, well over the actual value of the entire vehicle. So, cut to the end of this encounter, only safety recall was done, but I agreed the timing belt/water pump needed to be done, but I would get it done elsewhere (and at 1/4 of the price they quoted me, no less) Fast forward to this week, I'm working under my truck, and I see the rear rockers are basically rotted away (only the rear section, an issue pertaining to the safety recall) I call back the dealership, spoke to the original gentleman that set me up with the recall, explain everything, and he tells me to book an appt. (which I did) so they can look at it. My appt. was for this morning. I get there, pull in, and of course the gentleman I was dealing with is "absent" today. The girl asked me "So, what are you here for???", and I tell her the details. She basically says, "Hey, there's nothing we can do with it, we won't even look at it" I explained this was an issue caused by the safety recall issue, rear rocker rot, and the gentleman told me to bring it in, you would look at it, "Oh. No. I don't know why he would tell you that. He's a newbie. You need to call so-and-so, and work that out with them" (he's a newbie?...but, he was there 8mo ago, and I assume longer as he was knowledgeable about their systems, had a desk, etc.? Ok, passing the buck...got it) ...would have been nice if they just tell me that over the phone before. So, of course I'm frustrated, but I'm there, I figure I would ask for a quote on a "valve adjustment" and for installing "shocks and struts" that I purchased myself. Again, an exuberant price, I just laughed at her, shake my head noooo, and left. I get home, and call the number of the main corporation, that she told me to "deal with". They ask if I had it looked at by the dealership. I told them what I'm telling you now, "They turned me away and cancelled my appointment". They seem concerned that they wouldn't even look at it. They want all her information from me, which I give them, and assign me a case "liaison" to deal with... so, cut-to-the-chase, the bottom-line is, if it affects Liberty Hondas "bottom-line", they won't even deal with you... I had to go above them, directly to corporate. I took the day off work to keep this appointment, out of concern for the safety of my wife and son, and they wouldn't even look at it... basically, driving in the service center, and directly out the other side. Extremely frustrating encounter, that has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth for Honda in the future. Maybe I'll take a look at some Toyotas... hmm...

He was smug, condescending, dismissive, and incredibly rude. My Audi had an issue shortly after Hoffman had performed a major service/repair, and I was then told the new problem was caused by rodent damage to wiring related to that area. I had legitimate questions about how that diagnosis was determined and whether it could be connected to the recent service. Instead of explaining the evidence, Jim said "I don't know, but it happens." When I asked to speak with the General Manager, his response was: "Good luck with that. He's never here." Completely unprofessional. After 13 years of trusting Hoffman with my vehicle, I expected basic respect and customer service. If this is how Hoffman treats loyal customers, I'll gladly take my business elsewhere.
