(TLDR: Horrible, low-knowledge customer service, that has me considering other vehicles.) We all hear the old adage about dealerships... "They're over-priced!", "Aggressive up-sells and fear tactics", blah blah blah... in this case, it is absolutely true. Went in for a safety recall a few months back, and immediately the up-sells start: timing belt, valve adjustment, brakes/rotors, everything under the sun. I said no, just do the recall. Then, the phone calls and inspection videos start. "You really need this, you really need that", with price estimates that would literally make your eyes water, well over the actual value of the entire vehicle. So, cut to the end of this encounter, only safety recall was done, but I agreed the timing belt/water pump needed to be done, but I would get it done elsewhere (and at 1/4 of the price they quoted me, no less) Fast forward to this week, I'm working under my truck, and I see the rear rockers are basically rotted away (only the rear section, an issue pertaining to the safety recall) I call back the dealership, spoke to the original gentleman that set me up with the recall, explain everything, and he tells me to book an appt. (which I did) so they can look at it. My appt. was for this morning. I get there, pull in, and of course the gentleman I was dealing with is "absent" today. The girl asked me "So, what are you here for???", and I tell her the details. She basically says, "Hey, there's nothing we can do with it, we won't even look at it" I explained this was an issue caused by the safety recall issue, rear rocker rot, and the gentleman told me to bring it in, you would look at it, "Oh. No. I don't know why he would tell you that. He's a newbie. You need to call so-and-so, and work that out with them" (he's a newbie?...but, he was there 8mo ago, and I assume longer as he was knowledgeable about their systems, had a desk, etc.? Ok, passing the buck...got it) ...would have been nice if they just tell me that over the phone before. So, of course I'm frustrated, but I'm there, I figure I would ask for a quote on a "valve adjustment" and for installing "shocks and struts" that I purchased myself. Again, an exuberant price, I just laughed at her, shake my head noooo, and left. I get home, and call the number of the main corporation, that she told me to "deal with". They ask if I had it looked at by the dealership. I told them what I'm telling you now, "They turned me away and cancelled my appointment". They seem concerned that they wouldn't even look at it. They want all her information from me, which I give them, and assign me a case "liaison" to deal with... so, cut-to-the-chase, the bottom-line is, if it affects Liberty Hondas "bottom-line", they won't even deal with you... I had to go above them, directly to corporate. I took the day off work to keep this appointment, out of concern for the safety of my wife and son, and they wouldn't even look at it... basically, driving in the service center, and directly out the other side. Extremely frustrating encounter, that has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth for Honda in the future. Maybe I'll take a look at some Toyotas... hmm... read more

Really good service department. Very easy to make and modify appointments. They did an inspection and provided a video detailing what recommendations they had so it made the process feel significantly more transparent which I liked. Comfortable waiting room. Terrible service department. Spent a large sum fixing my car and they would not give a loaner car or reimburse for a rental. Did not even offer. Didn't do the work timely even though the car was brought in early in the morning and had to keep the rental car 2 days over the weekend. Service manager never returned a call. Said they offer a free car wash worth $30 but never gave my car a car wash. Asked for an estimate of a part and they say replace the entire system. Don't know what they are doing. One service advisor who controls the calls and won't put the calls through to the service manager. Rude, unhelpful. Instead of having good will and reimbursing for a rental car and car wash and a check for the a/c etc. per a BBB complaint, they fight it when they should be appologizing. Wow, I didn't expect a bait and switch, but that's what happened to me at Liberty Honda. I got talked into what I thought was a great deal after I was literally getting up walk out. The next morning I'm told, not only is not the great deal I thought it was (was told I was buying a 2026 and then this morning I was told I bought a 2025), they couldn't even make good on that signed deal. Well, at least I was able to decline their even less appealing offer, except that's a credit review I'm stuck with for 2 years and will have to take another one to get the car I want. Had a great experience with the service center getting my oil changed utilizing a online special for first responders and front line workers. They honored the online deal and I had my oil change for around $35 with my synthetic oil. Chloe was very helpful utilizing a different system via chat was helpful as I cannot reply often to a phone call during my work day. We were able to communicate freely in scheduling a pick up time for my Uber driver to pick me up and drop me off as they are not currently using their shuttle service. The service was pretty easy as I worked thru the day. Had the oil changed completed and was picked up from my place of work and driven back. Both drivers were friendly and professional. Chloe was prepared at the check out counter with my keys and paperwork and I had followed up with a request regarding my key remote. She took care of it quickly and easily that I'll be back to ask for Chloe and the service at Liberty Honda. read more

Horrible service my liberty Honda, I had made an appointment for 830 am. And that only for an oil change which I know takes 20-45 mins max. I am currently still waiting here it's 11:06 am over two and half hours for my oil change. A simple oil change. I am not sure what the point is of an appointment for services if they take this long. And also no one came and told me it would be taking longer than usual. Very disappointed and won't be coming here again. read more

We had our car towed in for a burning transmission smell and leak. Long story short we were told the transmission had failed, and the torque converter was burnt. They said it was "not holding fluid and there were sharp metal chunks when drained." We were told there was no rebuilt transmission available, and the cost was close to $8000.00! Obviously, this raised some BIG red flags. We made several calls to clarify the extent of the damage. We paid close to $200 for the diagnostic evaluation and had car towed to a transmission shop in Hartford. They diagnosed a missing clamp on a hose, filled the transmission with fluid and it ran smooth!! Nothing wrong with the transmission...... NO CHARGE!! My husband went back to tell the manger what happened and get a refund. They offered coupons for our next service. Like that is going to happen! What horrible service!! read more

My car was broken Into and stolen on January 10, 2023. The car was recovered two days later With damage to it. The towing that had my car referred me to this collision center. My insurance had my car towed there on January 17th. It is now March 14th and my car is still not ready. The first time I called near the end of January , they were waiting on the parts. I called back a few weeks after that and was told the pats had arrived. I left them a long so they could do what they needed. Called Mid-February car still not ready parts are still being put on. Called a week later. Car should be ready by Friday. Called back on Friday car still not ready. should be ready by Tuesday. Which brings us to today and now I am being told they are waiting for another part. I I am saying is I have a kid that that I need to get back to and from school as well as myself to get to and from work. my car has been with them for 2 months and I still have to pay a car payment on top of that trying to find away for my daughter to get school and home. Spending money that I don't have. If these guys were in my situation I know they wouldn't think this is acceptable. I did speak to a lawyer that I work with to see what course. I can take regarding transportation. seeing how I can't get a direct answer on when my car will be done. It has been 2 months. I should have done research myself before sending my car here. If I could do a half a star I would the company actually charged me a diagnostic charge when I asked them to research my phone not connecting to the hands-free set up in my 2015 Honda pilot they literally googled why won't phone Bluetooth connect and found out that my phone is not compatible with that car scary considering it's an iPhone X but anyways liberty Honda had the gall to actually charge me $150 diagnostic charge so the service man could pay for his Google is my guess. I received an email from Honda, saying my car is nearing its maintenance check. I went online to schedule an appointment when to bring in my car. Upon arriving, TJ was assisting me, he went through the list of what they would be checking in my car and how much it would cost. He gave me an estimated time for waiting. He was thorough enough that I understood what I brought my car in for, and by the time I went to the waiting area I was content. True to his word, it didn't take too long. If you get impatient easily, bring something like an IPad. Or if you don't like waiting, they have shuttles to take you home. I like that Honda Liberty cares for their clients and the cars. read more

Unfortunately I have to rate my experience as very poor. I took my daughter in to buy a new car I wanted to let her handle as much of the transaction as possible since it was to be her first major purchase. During the initial interaction the salesman guaranteed us that the sales price was MSRP and that they were not charging extra like other dealerships that was perfect for us. We went through the entire process of putting money down and waiting for two months for the car to show up. When we went to buy the car the order included a $1300 charge that had not been clearly disclosed to us. We were nearly completely finished signing when we caught the charge. April 2012 my car was getting a new fresh paint at LIBERTY HONDA COLLISION , when I got the car back the first time the paint was rubbing off, overspray all over . They took the car back and I it got back the next day . few weeks ago I notice notice light spots around the car paint when the sun was directed towards the car. maybe( FADED ) OCT 2015 I when back to told to the General manager Mike P. about this problem and according to this General manager is normal that after a few years the paint on cars start FADED off on any brand new paint or brand NEW car. This is a NEW fresh paint job on my Acura, and this job was one only 3 years old. The paint looks terrible when the Sun hits it , also this General Manager says '''I see the spots !!! but is normal for me" "". come on !!! how can you say something like that..... on a brand new paint job???? by hem saying something like that he don`t know anything about cars and he just denied to do something .... This General Manager Mike P. from LIBERTY HONDA was very rude to me when I question hem about the problem I have ,by first interrupting me and then saying "THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH BECAUSE I`M TOO BUSY T TO STAY HERE TALKING.. I bought a Certified Honda CRV from Liberty Honda last month, I was in a hurry as my previous car was totalled, so I couldn't completely check the car before buying. Liberty Honda salesman keeps emphasizing on that there will be no issue with the car as we do 182 point inspection and I trusted them. After buying the car, I found some minor issues with the car like wipers, rare bumper alignment, music player with USB and a few more. So I went back to the Liberty Honda and the attitude of the team was totally different. I waited for 2 hours to talk to someone. Once I get to talk to someone, he said, you bought the car this way, they can't fix these issue for all buyers, you should have checked before buying the car. It was so difficult to talk to someone who isn't willing to help. When I was buying the car, they were like we will fix all the issues you find in the car for 60 days and now they are like you bought the car this way. I would advise everyone to inspect thoroughly the car before buying it from Liberty Honda. If the car you bought from Liberty Honda has some issue, then you are totally on their mercy to fix it. read more

Honestly I wouldn't buy another car here or service my car here. I came here when I had an accord for a recall. They put holes in my dash board and some how dropped my thermos from the console and broke it. I didn't make a stink since it was an older car. When it came time to buy another car I came here out of convenience. The car was certified and 3 years old. The entire time the car was certified I brought here for service. Now conveniently that the warranty is up the car needs service that they said should have been done at 3 years. Of course they never mentioned any of this until the warranty ran out. I asked about this and the service tech rudely replied I haven't worked with you. I explained that last time I had service I worked with her and she didn't mention it. If you like your oil change to take hours or even (in one instance) days, by all means this is the place. Incredibly unprofessional, slow service. Good luck reaching your service agent if you leave your car there. If you are waiting for it, it will be "ready in about a half hour" for FOUR HOURS! On top of that, for some reason, they cleared all of our settings, audio presets, and GPS locations. As part of an oil change? UPDATE: after our service director finally got back to us, and after giving us the keys to retrieve our car which was nowhere to be seen, she finally realized that it was still in the back lot. Why is it so hard to find an honest Auto service center. Brought my Honda to Liberty Honda in Hartford for brakes because based on mileage it was probably time. The car was handling well , stopping action was good , no vibration or squealing ever. The rotors had never been turned , figure it will just need pads. I get a call saying the car is unsafe to drive: the rotors are toast , the calipers are frozen and I need a 2200 dollar brake job and my Michelin tires with only 30,000 miles need to be replaced immediately ( my last Michelin's went 60000 before needing replacement). I said get the car ready for me don't touch it . My husband and brother-in-law ( who runs an auto machine shop and can fix anything) did the job : 1/8 inch still left on the brake pads and the rotors were fine. The tires have 40 % left on the tread Liars and thieves and scare tactics to get unknowing people to purchase unnecessary parts and services. read more

I had a really great experience at Liberty Honda, and was treated much better here than at any other dealership AND got the best deal after shopping around at different Honda dealerships in the area. The salesperson I worked with, John, was amazing, not pushy at all, and treated me respectfully and like a person not a sales number. They gave me a really good amount for my trade in, and to finance my car 0%! Buyer Beware!!! My shopping experience at Liberty Honda was not good. Trying to help my parents get a new car I found one incident after another of misrepresentation from bait & switch pricing to misrepresenting how they really treat their customers. Reputation matters and something is wrong with the way Liberty Honda displays reviews on their website. I clicked on reviews at the bottom of the home page of Liberty Honda's website and saw only 5-star reviews on Yelp and overall great reviews from other review sites. Then I come here to their Yelp page and visit other review sites and see much lower ratings. There are also 4-one star "filtered" reviews here on Yelp! How are they screening the reviews to show only good ones? No haggle pricing at a Honda dealership less than 10 miles east of them was a much more satisfying experience. And their treating the customer right at the other Honda dealer is supported by 13 awards from Honda for superior service and also being chosen as a top workplace by the Hartford Courant. Where are the awards at Liberty Honda? I tried to work this all out with the dealer via phone & email before passing judgement to no avail. I would never buy a car here again. Ever. I wanted a car they didn't have on the lot. They swore up and down they could get it within a week, so we negotiated the price (worked them down to a terrific deal) and I gave them a deposit to secure our negotiated price. One week goes by, no car. Two weeks go by and no one is even calling me back. I complain to the manager and I get some BS apology. Meanwhile, they are trying to sell me OTHER MODEL CARS because they can't find what they agreed to get me in a week's time! It took them well over a month to finally get my car. I would never buy another one from them and I make sure I spread the word to others in the market for a car that they suck. As they say, a happy consumer might tell one person, an unhappy consumer will tell 10 people (or write about it on the internet...). I told him I will go for them later as I am not sure what services he is referring to. He started acting strange and said he is going to put in the system that I declined those services and my warranty is not going to cover them in future. Buyers beware of fraudulent activity at Liberty Honda. We recently purchased a vehicle from Liberty Honda, and we were very adamant and clear about not wanting any add-ons (at which time we were condescendingly talked down to, I'm being polite here and not mentioning any names, just because we expressed disinterest in their added coverage) but they added several undisclosed extras/charges to our loan anyway. What occurred here is fraud and 100 percent theft; there is no other way to define it. We truly regret having to write this review (as you can see from my Yelp profile I'm not one to write reviews, especially negative ones. So the fact that I'm writing one here should speak volumes) but after several attempts to reach out to Liberty Honda's management with our concerns and hoping to at least simply discuss the matter, all of our emails and phone calls have gone unanswered and completely ignored. And we feel we have a responsibility to warn other hard-working people about these despicable, deceitful, and unethical business practices occurring at Liberty Honda. They are obviously doing this to other hard-hard working people. We suggest anyone else who has been a victim of Liberty Honda's theft contact the BBB and your local consumer protection agency. Our experience at Liberty Honda has undoubtedly been the worst dealership experience we've ever had. I was involved in a pretty nasty accident and since I had a Honda, who better to fix it than Liberty Collision Center in Hartford? They had an ideal location, was recommended by my insurance, etc. Boy was I wrong. First off, the car should have been totaled. It was a seven year old Accord with 72K miles. The initial estimate was over $6500 to fix which included an entirely new dashboard. Then the waiting came. Two weeks, three weeks, four weeks. Then 42 days later after the initial accident I got the call my Accord would be "ready" at 4:30PM. I get there at 4:45, car is still not ready. Then after 5PM, the car pulls around. I immediately notice that there is a dent in the brand new fender, the bumper was not painted/blended and was a different color, missing bolts and bits under the hood, the heat/ac does not turn on, the auto dim mirror and compass is not working, scratches on the interior trim, fabric ripped on headliner/sun visor, steering wheel cover was not installed correctly, etc. So I grab the service manager and point out all the issues. He seems irritated, but writes down all the concerns and asks that I take the car and bring it back tomorrow as they are now closed. No problem, so I drive off and make a left hand turn. The whole front end starts to scrape and squeal. The ABS light is on. The steering wheel is cocked 45 degrees as I drive straight. I immediately make a U-turn back to the shop. Of course, the body shop is now closed. So I see the service area is still open and speak with the manager there. We go for a quick ride and he agrees that something is not right. He puts me back in a rental until they can get it right. Then another couple of weeks while they address the issues and try and fix the ABS light which turned out to be an ABS sensor. This was realized after they replaced a bunch of expensive ABS parts including the ABS modulator. When I got the Accord back, again, there was a bunch of new scratches and imperfections/runs in the paintwork. Air was rushing in between the windshield and dashboard. So I had to return it again so they could reinstall the windshield which was incorrectly sealed. When it was all said and done the tab was over $8K, for a 2004 Accord with 72K. The car was never right and I quickly sold it the following month. That was after my insurance company cut me another $1200 check to fix additional issues which I didn't feel like having Liberty Collision Center fixing. My adjuster said something about having them reviewed as a recommended collision center, but I doubt anything materialized from that. C'est la vie read more

AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP FOR NEW CARS. I read a lot of positive reviews on Liberty's service department. This review is based on potential new car buy. Last night I test drove the car, but not my wife. My wife didn't come along for the ride, even though she will be the ultimate driver. Doesn't matter for us, as she will take my recommendations. However, I was told that 5~10 minutes she was waiting for me, NO ONE approached her, offered her drink, nothing. Did I mention she will be driving the car? After the test drive, I had to take a phone call from my brother. During this time, my wife told me that the sales person didn't even acknowledge her presence, UNTIL she mentioned that she will be driving the car and she will be the decision maker. When I was making a counter-offer, the sales associate did not even entertain exploring options, instead started giving me excuses why I should accept the offer. Not even faked going back to "the manager", or genuinely trying to make this work by other incentives if the price was not negotiable. Maybe he needs more training on "when the couples walk in, I need to sell it to the wife", or "I need to sell myself, then the car will sell itself". When we were leaving the dealership, no one acknowledged that we were leaving. No one said good bye, come back again, sorry it didn't work out...etc. Like we were ghosts. We have a VERY large network of friends and associates in CT, MA, and NY, and if they understand the power of network, making one customer happy is like getting 100 customers. Trust me when I say Liberty would be the last place I'd recommend to my friends...and many of them drive Honda's. OK, the sales associate was green. Understand. But the whole dealership was just as bad. It was almost closing time, yes, BUT it wasn't an 8 o'clock yet. Perhaps they underestimated us...but trust me, we were willing to write a deposit check for 50%~75% of the sales price last night, and $1k~$2k price difference in offering does not sway us one way or the other, but a BAD SERVICE will. read more

Just brought my car in for an oil change....wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first experience at Liberty, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was really struck by how nice everyone is....from the first phone call (where i was informed you don't need an appointment for an oil change....New Country BMW, you could learn a few things from Liberty!) to the guys helping me when I dropped my car off. I will definitely be back, and I will recommend my honda-owning friends go here for their service too. I agree with the other poster than mentioned we should be able to review sales and service separately. I looked here over the summer when i was shopping for my car, and I was underwhelmed (might have been due to their lack of inventory from the tsunami, but who knows). read more

Use to work here, management was horrible, at the time manager was Carl, doesn't know what he's is doing, employees putting in all there work for very little pay, they expect 100% work ethic but do not want to pay. They promise you raises that you never will see. The whole dealership is a zoo. I would not recommend working at liberty Honda. This place is nothing but favoritism. read more

Decent maintenance team, I wish they would set this up so you could comment on the sales staff and maintenance separately. Sometimes they wash your car when they are done, sometimes they dont. Sometimes they charge you more than what they original quoted, sometimes its less. Sometimes they get your car done an you on the road on time, and or course, sometimes they don't. After 2 hours I asked for a status update and the service rep. said "I don't think it's done yet..." not helpful. This has happened to me once before at this dealership and I didn't bring my car back for 5 years but I needed a recall done so I didn't have a choice. I looked online to get a price quote. They emailed me a price quote, and I went to the dealership. After the test drive phase of the relationship, the salesperson quoted me a price more than what they offered me online. I addressed this error, and the internet sales manager informed me that "The online quote was for the base model, not the EX" That was foolishness. This goes for the body shop, customer service is absolutely fucking disgusting. Had a car accident and decided to take the car here for it to be repaired and as the insurance company was trying to call the body shop, they kept ignoring the call over and over, pushing back my repair time, then when I get the call from the insurance company that this is happening, I call with them, and after about 4 calls a woman picks up, her name is MARY, MARY answers the insurance company's questions with a nasty ass attitude and hung up abruptly after everything was answered. No "is there anything else I can help with" I had a whole nother question I wanted to ask but she hung up before I could ask it, only a 4 minute call by the way. They tell me it'll be two weeks before they can look at my car because it's backed up and they also need me to sign so they can do the repairs. Then I call about a week later as I haven't been able to go in to sign to ask if the wait time is 1 more week (since 1 week had passed) and this time I get a guy with some kind of New York accent pressuring me to come in while I'm trying to ask a simple question, then tells me the longer I take the more it gets pushed back as more cars are coming in with signed papers. I've never seen a car business that wasn't first come first serve because of a signature when my car already had a two week wait time for me to give a signature. Recently showed up car shopping, at 3:30 pm on a Sunday. They close at 4 pm (usually). Staff here were very pleasant and accomodating and helped us until we were done without constantly checking the clock. Also, they tolerated the 3 kids pretty well too, which is an endurance event in and of itself. We're coming back for a test drive, I will continue to update as we move through the car buying process. So far so good, low key at the moment. This is not the only dealership we're working with, so I will give a point of reference for other dealerships in the area as I get one. I've been meaning to do this review for a while now, I came here when I was looking for a new car. I had the pleasure to deal with Kael (I think I'm misspelling it) which was AWESOME! So helpful, had an answer to everything. I was actually really impressed because I went with my dad who is the typical European with 1001 questions because he knows about cars as well! Everyone else was pretty friendly, the whole area was super clean they offered little snacks, coffee and water. I didn't end up doing business with them because of their interest rate, but if you're in the area and looking for a new car I would only recommend Kael. Even the place that I did end up getting a new car at wasn't as good as him! Just wish their interest rates wouldn't be so sky high! read more

Worked with Mike Gay throughout my car buying experience and he was awesome!! He was not pushy throughout the process and found me the car of my dreams. He was easy to get ahold of and made the experience as simple and non stressful as buying a car could be. His manager there was also great. This dealership has great prices, if you look around no one has a better deal and, they encourage you to try to find another deal better because there really won't be one. With that being said, this is one of the dealerships with no haggling which is so much better to me. Definitely go check them out if you're in the market and ask for Mike Gay! read more
