My child attended this preschool from August to December 2024, and as a parent of a child on the spectrum, I was hopeful and optimistic about his experience. I communicated my son's struggles with new environments to Jennifer, who assured me that everything would be fine. While my son did have a challenging start, after three weeks, he began to adjust and thrive. We received weekly pictures and kind messages from Jennifer, which reassured me during tougher days. However, a few months in, I noticed unsettling changes in my son's behavior. As any parent of a child on the spectrum knows, regression can happen for various reasons, and I initially attributed it to illness and the challenges of being around new peers. I tried to address these behaviors at home, relying on strategies I learned from his previous occupational therapist. Then, an alarming incident occurred. After picking him up one day, my son revealed that a classmate--whom we'll refer to as Student A--had hit him. When I asked if he informed the teacher, he said yes, and described how Student A could be both nice and mean. I didn't think much of it at the time, believing the teachers had handled the situation. But then, on December 29, everything changed. My son came to me in distress, saying that Student A was bullying him, throwing things at him, and even touching him inappropriately. He confided that he hadn't told me sooner because he feared that Student A would come to our house and harm us and our dog. Shockingly, he said this threat originated from his teacher. My son was in turmoil, hyperventilating and terrified of the repercussions of speaking out. This incident has fundamentally altered my son's ability to play and interact with others, not only at school but even at the park. We immediately brought this to Jennifer's attention, as well as to our son's doctor. While Jennifer initially reached out, I later sent her a detailed email outlining the entire incident, yet to this day, I have not received a response. I filed a report, but the unfortunate reality is that the young ages of the children involved make it difficult to pursue any action--especially when the teachers deny any wrongdoing. It's disheartening and infuriating. My son has been profoundly affected by this experience, requiring therapy and now grappling with trauma that could have been prevented. I urge parents to carefully consider their options when selecting a preschool. Ensure that your child will be protected and supported. My son deserved better, and no child should have to endure what he went through. Please, take this into account when making your decision. Your child's safety and well-being depend on it. From Ms. Amanda in the mornings to Ms. Parker in the afternoons, we are consistently greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense that our boys are known and cared for. Ms. Su and Ms. Mahshid, along with their support staff, have made the transition smooth and reassuring. The biggest sign we chose the right place is how excited our boys are to see their teachers each day. They even ask me to share their updates when we arrive, which says a lot about the relationships being built there. After moving our son mid-year into the 2-year-old class, the transition was seamless, thanks to the kindness, warmth, and professionalism of Amanda, Kim, and Parker. We appreciated how they made room and warmly welcomed him into the program. The team has done an excellent job communicating with us about our son's development. They get to know each child as an individual and tailor their care to meet each child's specific needs. Ms. Brittney is an incredibly patient and kind teacher. She is helping our son learn how to share and communicate with his friends and we are seeing how much his speech is improving under her care. One of the reasons we chose this preschool is the student/teacher ratio - the classes are never chaotic or out of control. Ms. Brittney is able to give each child the attention they need. One of our challenges is getting our son to eat well throughout the day. We requested daily snack and lunch updates and the staff remain consistent with inputing this information into the childcare app with great detail. This school provides snacks and lunch with their tuition. Game changer for busy working parents like us! We also notice how well-loved our son is by the entire staff. At every drop off and pick up, he always gets warm greetings or goodbyes from at least two different staff members, and they always greet him by name. It's clear that the staff truly knows and cares about each child. The facility itself is clean, modern, and well-maintained, and we always pick up our son looking fresh and clean after a day of fun and learning. The activities are thoughtfully designed to help with their coordination and overall learning, and we always feel at ease when we see our son's happy face in the photo and video updates that are sent to us throughout the day. Our son sometimes struggles with the transition from home to school and she handles it with so much grace and he always comes home saying what a great day he had. (We were considering Guidepost initially but I am grateful that we chose Mei's school instead because I think the personalized attention is really critical for him.) The teachers she brings on to assist have all been attentive and kind as well - and while not directly a feature of the school, we've also enjoyed our brief interactions with the other parents we've met during pick up. Our toddler's problem solving skills have really strengthened, which we credit in part to all the wonderful Montessori materials and work time that Ms. Mei has curated. We are not a Mandarin speaking household but we appreciate the language and cultural exposure that Little Star provides while our son also has ample time to be a little kid - splashing in water, lying down in sand, chasing bubbles, etc. From the daily updates and parent-teacher conferences it is clear that Mei is a true educator that notices, tracks, and strategizes to improve each students strengths and growth areas. I was having hard feelings about going back to work, but staying at home was not a feasible option. From the moment we toured Goddard, we knew we had found the right people to entrust with our girl. All of the directors and teachers know every kid's name, and there is genuine joy from the staff every time a child walks through the front door. They send us daily updates on how my daughter is doing, what she did throughout the day (AMAZING and DYNAMIC curriculum!) what she ate, and even when she went to the bathroom (as a parent, you need to know!) from day one my husband and I have always felt that our daughter was safe and incredibly well loved and cared for by the teachers and directors. The staff are responsive to any calls/texts/emails right away, and are genuinely interested in not only the child, but the family. I love all of events they put on throughout the year: from dress-up days to holiday parties, to school dances, you can tell how much the staff love the kids and how safe the kids feel with the staff.
