One star for the sweet lady who did my nails. I went here with a groupon. Took a peek at the prices which were RIDICULOUS. Pedicure was ok, did a good job for the most part. Would have liked a little more clean up. You sit on a bench not a massage chair. Which is a con but not as bad as you would think. Manicure, on the other hand was so bad. First off they use Gelish which sucks in general. The polish doesn't stay, instead it shrinks and you find half of your nail bed not polished. She was sweet and tried her hardest but I would never paid for this manicure. I got it as a gift. I usually do my own nails and figured this is great to get someone else to do it. Sorry, but with the prices and lack of talent here this place will not stay in business. This place does offer almost every service out there. I like that I can have a glass of champ while getting this stuff done. But I won't be returning. read more

I had a 90 minute massage today guys it was really great. it included a foot scrub and hand scrub using a concoction made by the owner. After the hand scrub there was a body wash use to wash their hands and then a lotion. My massage therapist check to see if I was comfortable initially she adjusted the head rest and added some towels by my shoulders to comfort me. At another point she when I was chilly she gave me another blanket. The massage therapist was very nice but the massage itself was more like a rub down. At one 2 second period I felt her hit a knot and the rest of the 90 minutes there was no pressure. My quads were pretty tight from the workout I had two days before and a couple times I felt her passing over them, but it was certainly light. If prefer no pressure on your massage this is definitely the place to go. During the foot scrub there was no focus on my heel. The top of my foot get raw & the peach fuzz on the top of my feet was ground off. read more

Uncomfortable experience. Owner was extremely rude to us upon walking in because there was not room for a third person to get a mani-pedi. We are understanding people but this woman had an all-out freakout and made us all very uneasy, causing our friend to leave the salon altogether. The nail technicians were very nice, however. I feel bad that they had to work for this woman. On another note, they advertise OPI and other standard salon nail polish brands but do not seem to have them. My nails were painted with an off-brand kind of nail polish and my manicure chipped in a week. Don't waste your time by going here. read more

This review is for the 90 minute massage I got at the Blow Dry Style Lounge on 12/26/17 from Greg. I saw the ad on Groupon and called and they told me that they're running a deal where if you book directly with them instead of Groupon, they'd do 20% off the Groupon price. So the 90 minute massage was $39. They could get me in the next week. I thought I hit the jackpot. Upon arriving to my appointment, Greg walked me into the massage room and shut the door. He then said, "Take off your coat so I can see what I'm working with." (exact words). That should have been my first sign to not continue with the appointment. Greg asked if he could massage my stomach during the session. I told him no because I am ticklish. He then tried to convince me by saying he's done it on other people who are ticklish and they've gotten through it. Again, I told him no. Later, while massaging my feet, he went, "Looks like you're due for a pedicure." Another strange thing was he didn't use massage oil, instead, he used large tubs of lotion labeled "MASSAGE CREAM". The massage was just OK, but he ended it after 79 minutes, not 90. To be fair, he did ask me afterwards for feedback on what I liked and didn't like. However, I couldn't bring myself to communicate how uncomfortable I was. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. Disappointing. I'm literally writing this from a chair in the salon while I wait for my friend to finish up her service. She came to town to visit for my birthday and we saw the Groupon and thought, "why not?" She purchased the coupon for a highlight, facial, cut and blowout. I purchased the cut, shine treatment, and hydrating hand treatment. We scheduled weeks ago-- requested appointments at the same time. Given the differing lengths of the treatments they staggered us. Great. Until they scheduled her for Wednesday and me for Thursday. And even two days before the appointments they still had it messed up. Luckily we were able to make it work on the same day, with less than perfect timing.... Not a big deal. For only being about 1.5 years old it's rather shabby looking. Lots of pictures just sitting on the floor next to the wall. Design aesthetic doesn't match anything. They're trying to go for comfy cozy, hip and trendy, hip hop and childish all at once. Again, not a big deal but something to consider. My haircut and blowout? Standard. I didn't want much cut off so it made the job simple. No questioning how I wanted it styled-- super simple straight blowout with as much body as I'd get blowdrying with my head upside down at home. If asked, I would have liked some curl or body of some sort. The concept of being a blowdry salon generally comes with having a "menu" of styles to choose from-- that's clearly missing here. However, I've now been sitting here for an hour since my service finished. No one has asked if I'd like water and despite my mentioning when I arrived, no mention by staff of my hand treatment (and honestly, at this point, I have no desire to ask for it. After bringing it up and it being listed as included w purchase, I shouldn't HAVE to ask). My friend's highlight job is a joke. I don't know if her stylist is new to this salon and their product or fresh out of beauty school or what. The Groupon says additional charges for length and additional services. However upon arrival we were informed it's also only for a specific caramel color..... No note of this at all in the small print... We've looked while sitting here. The stylist has had two others (including mine) helping her mix the color and toner and has received instruction and assistance multiple times on HOW to apply the highlights and where. The staff seem friendly (though the one who seems to be most in charge was making very annoyed and unprofessional faces at a client on the phone when we walked in). As others have noted it's definitely amateur hour and there is a reason they have multiple Groupons and other promotions running. We'll wait to see how the color turns out but I do not think I'll be returning no matter the discount or promotion. read more

Visited here because of a Groupon for a gel manicure and pedicure. It was difficult to schedule via phone. I called twice and was told each time I would be called back. I never was. I finally made an appointment (for a month later). A week before the appointment they called me to reschedule. The salon was very clean and the technician who helped me was friendly (and a bit of an over-sharer). The service was poor quality, though. The pedicure was a quick soak, a brief sugar scrub, and a polish application. I was left with rough heels and messy cuticles. The manicure was very, very sloppy. Several of my nails were not smooth, and my cuticles looked better before the manicure. I didn't follow-up with a complaint. I'm not confident a re-do would have been any better. read more

Purchased a Groupon for a friend and myself for a gel mani and a regular pedi. Service was HORRIBLE! Apparently one of the nail techs was a no-show so they had just one tech take care of both my friend and I at the same time. The tech had an UGLY ATTITUDE and did a VERY POOR JOB. She rushed through the service and didn't provide even the standards you come to expect with getting your nails done: no cleaning under the nails, no massage, no oil on the cuticles, etc. Also, I am 'blessed' with having a very small pinky toe nail and the tech had the gall to ask what she was "supposed to do with it"! In all my 30+ years of existence I have never had a nail technician ask such a thing! A true professional would do their job without incident and not INSULT a client. The salon itself leaves a lot to be desired. Looks like it's trying too hard to be something it's not. I never had the chance to get any service from them since they never called me back. A couple of months ago, I was seeking a place who would do my and my maid of honor's hair for my wedding. Worst. "Shellac." "Manicure." Ever. Avoid this bogus place. I moved to madison and have been looking for a nail salon to call home. I bought 2 groupons, one to Rockabetty and another for this place. I got two amazing shellac manicures there but still had a Groupon for this place, which I decided to use last weekend. It was for a standard mani pedi and on the phone when I scheduled my appointment, they mentioned it would be an upcharge for removal and another for the shellac. I said OK, assuming that meant it was changed to shellac manicure. When I showed up, there was no record of it, so I said again, I need a removal and shellac. By the time I got to the manicurist, she didn't know anything about it - and she did a rushed and crummy job of it. First, i was given the choice of only 5 colors (really?) and there was no base coat, no top coat. It has been two days and it is already wearing and chipping. Not to mention that I have been growing my nails and she filed them down after asking what shape I wanted, my saying I wanted square, and her saying they could only be round and my agreeing to round - not none, but round. And the free drink? I asked for tea, was presented with a Moscato about 10 minutes later, and when I said no I wanted a tea, was told it would be a couple more minutes -- only after reminding them, I got a tea only when my nails were soaking and I couldn't drink it them. Utter crap. My nails look awful, all the progress I made growing them is gone, and I can't believe I tipped for this garbage. I will never ever ever ever ever go back to this crappy place. I purchased a Groupon for somewhere new to try. I typically will go to one of the cheaper salons in the Verona area and thought that this might be a nice pamper... guess not! First of all, they are EXTREMELY overpriced! I got worse service and quality than I would have at my cheaper salons that cost half the price. I went there to get a gel mani and a pedi. The polish pedi was ok, but they were out of several of the colors. However, as far as scrubbing and moisturizing my feet, they are no smoother than when I came in! She literally spent 4 minutes for my entire pedicure! For the gel manicure, It took her over 5 minutes to find the colors that I had picked out (of which were in stock). Then she completely rushed through it. She put 3 coats on all my nails and then put oil on my hands. The polish on my thumbs didn't cure and started to wrinkle. I realize it was 5 min until they close, but this was no fault of mine, so I asked if she could fix it. She then filed some of the polish off and just repainted them with 1 coat! It looks like crap and only one of them looks like it even got a top coat on it before we were being rushed out the door. This is by far the worst service and quality I have ever had for both services - even compared to places that cost 3x less the price. If you're thinking about having any services here... DON'T. I called specifically for an after work time, and they had nothing. Offered for 3pm? How do you think that works if your at an office?! My wife received a Groupon for this Lounge for her birthday. The business refuses to honor it even though it is not expired!!! The Groupon has a stated value of $40.50 which never expires and may be applied to anything in the store. The Groupon also has a promotional value for a specific service, in this case a Signature Moroccanoil Blowout with Complimentary Drinks and Make-up Application, which expires on January 11, 2019. Today is January 5, 2019, yesterday I called to make an appointment for my wife and the salon worker told me that the coupon had already expired but they would still honor the $ value. Today I took the coupon in to the salon so they can read it and see that the promotion part has not expired, but she deos not read it that way. Even in the fine print it says that the promotional value expires on the date of the coupon. She told me that she has had experience with these promotions in the past and assured me that the promotion value expires 5 months after the issuance of the Groupon. It does not say that anywhere on the Groupon, it DOES, however, say that the promotion expires in about a week. The owner is out of town and won't be able to contact me until sometime next week, but the salon worker told me that her decision will be the same. read more

I purchased a Groupon for a "90-minute Swedish or Therapeutic Massage, Foot Massage, Smoothing Scrub, and Hand Rejuvenation with Complimentary Drinks," which I used on 11/23/18. First of all, the place was completely empty on a Sunday afternoon, which I thought was really odd and kind of uncomfortable. The female massage therapist would not. stop. talking. during the entire service. She talked about all of her 20+ years of experience, but the massage was sub-par at best. I couldn't relax the entire time because she was talking. I did not receive a foot massage or smoothing scrub, and the "hand rejuvenation" was a little bit of lotion slapped on as an afterthought. As I was checking out, I felt compelled to give a tip, but it was not deserved. As I was about to leave, I also had to ask the bored-looking employee at the cash wrap what the "complimentary drinks" meant. She said "oh!" and asked me what I wanted. I asked what the choices were, and basically it was champagne or a mimosa. I opted for champagne, which was presented to me in the big main room at a table. No music, no tv, no magazines, nobody else to talk to. I awkwardly finished my glass of champagne and got the heck out of there. Basically, this Groupon experience disappointed on all counts. I'm stunned these guys are still in business, and I hope they take all of these reviews to heart. I also think that the Groupon options need to better reflect the services provided. I have visited the salon on multiple occasions and have always enjoyed my experience. I have had a blowout, manicures, pedicures, a facial, and waxing done. I love how cost effective it is and the staff is awesome. I know some reviewers have not enjoyed the laid back and family like atmosphere, but that is one of the big draws for me. I love chatting with other technicians during my appointments. I have had instances where my nail polish peeled off soon after my appointment, but they have always been happy to redo the nails when I called. I suggest attending one of the wine tasting events that the salon hosts, I've been to two, to see if it is a good fit for you. Meet the staff and get a feel for the place. Worst salon experience. My friend and I bought groupons and this looked like a nice salon. Well, I should of known after having to call 4 times because they kept screwing up the appointments. When we arrived, my stylist didn't even introduce herself or ask anything about me. She had terrible customer service skills. Then, as she proceeded to start foiling she asked just about every other stylist if she was doing it right. I told her I wanted dark brown with reddish tint low lights. Yet, after 3.5 hours my whole head was red AND I have a patch of hair not colored because she didn't rub the timer in good enough. Meanwhile, my friend just got a cut and had to sit there the rest of the time because they screwed up our appointment times. My friends stylist just left her sitting and never offered her water or anything. My stylist never even asked if I liked my hair. It was pathetic. Our groupon was also supposed to come with hand rejuvenation and a facial for me, we never got that. Then as we were leaving, another stylist said I'll offer you a complementary high light...what? I had Blow Dry Style Lounge do hair and makeup for me, my bridesmaids, and several family members for my wedding on October 23rd. I LOVED the fact that they were willing to travel from Fitchburg to Wisconsin Dells to accommodate us. They showed up on time (8am) and brought a crew of 3 stylists plus all of their own equipment, styling products, and makeup. They even brought champagne for us! All of our hair and makeup turned out beautifully, and they managed to get all 6 of us done (including a four year old flower girl) in about 2 hours. I was very impressed! About a month before my wedding, I had a hair and makeup trial done and was happy with how it turned out. I was not thrilled when my stylist called a week later and let me know that she was leaving Blow Dry Style Lounge and would not be able to do my hair and makeup on the day of my wedding. However, the Style Lounge immediately rebooked me with one of their other stylists and set up a second trial with me. For free. The second trial actually turned out even better than the first one, so everything worked out well in the end. Bottom line, I would recommend the Style Lounge. The convenience of having them come to me on my wedding day was a HUGE plus. Everyone enjoyed having their hair and makeup done by the Style Lounge crew, and we all got exactly what we wanted. Do not go here - a wasted trip. My friend and I booked a month out 2 mani/pedis that we got from Groupon for her birthday. When I called, I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then I was very specific that there were two of us and went into detail about the 2 Groupons we had, since she and I each got different ones and I wanted to make sure she had us down for the right offers (mine was a shellac/gel mani and hers was not). In addition, I gave her both of our names at time of booking. Fast-forward to a month later for our appointment, I got a confirmation call and the woman I spoke with offered me an earlier time slot since they had openings. I explained that I needed to check with my friend that I was going with and asked if they had openings for the two of us, and did she have us down for two people. She said "Sure do! Call us back if your plans change and you want to come in earlier". We ended up coming in at our normal time, only to be told by the receptionist that she only had one person booked. The receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. All she said was "I don't know", when I explained that I had confirmed via 2 phone calls that there were going to be 2 people, one of those calls mere hours ago. She finally sighed "I *guess* I can ask the stylist to stay later and do one of you at a time." We told her that was unacceptable, and she huffed "I can re-book you and offer you a complimentary mani or pedi." Um, no, we told you we had Groupons we already paid for, why do you think that would help us? And after this great initial booking experience, do you really think we'd trust you to book us again? The great thing about Madison is that there are tons of great salons. I recommend Lotus for awesome nails, which is not too far from here. My husband bought me a groupon for this salon for my birthday. I was very disappointed in the service I received. I had a shellac mani and polish pedi. When I arrived at the salon, they showed me back to the "lounge" which was empty and I was not offered a drink by either the receptionist or the technician when she came to fetch me. The tech was very friendly. The pedicure was short, and the chair was not the most comfortable thing. I am always much more satisfied when I go to an Asian ran salon down the street. The manicure was unlike any I've ever had, and not in a good way. It was done completely dry, and it hurt my cuticles a bit. The shellac started peeling completely the week after my appointment. I love the concept of this salon, but it was definitely not worth the price that they state it costs in the groupon, and barely worth the price of the groupon. I came Saturday morning with two friends, we had a few services a piece. One had a blowout... her hair looked better when she walked into the salon (in a top know not washed!) I had an color balance... granted, it was only $55.00 which is quite inexpensive, but I left with purple shampoo and yellow hair. :/ The third of us, had highlights, chunky ones... where they went no one knows, you can not see a difference. As for the "bar" aspect, they are allowed to serve 6 ounces of alcohol... and when we ordered mimosas, the person making them came to ask what goes first, the OJ or the champagne. I honestly can not even give them a single star. They are so disorganized. I was here for a group event with friends and they said they could do us all at once and they split us up. Two people were done way before the other three. The pedicure was literally a soak with two swipes of a file. Wtf?! My big toes are so callused. I'm a triathlete. These feet need help! They were cleaning the foot rubs while we were still getting polished bc another group was coming in. The polish on my friend's nails was all over her cuticles. Let me start by saying I have not been a customer here for over a year, but certainly not by my choice. My first couple of experiences here were nice. I've had my nails and my hair done at different times and was pleased with the results. That being said... when I was in charge of planning a bachelorette party for mid-May I instantly thought this place would be great start earlier in the day. All the girls could get mani's or pedi's and drink while we do it?! Perfect! I emailed from the website two months in advance since there were 9 of us and I knew scheduling that would be extremely difficult. I received no response. With all the rest of the planning, I forgot to follow up for some time (which I completely take responsibility for). I emailed once again a month later hoping that getting an appointment would still be possible. Still no response. Many of the girls in my party had purchased groupons for this specific service and were unable to use them for the party due to the fact that I literally could not get anyone to email me back. Granted, I should have called, but what is the point of having an email contact on the website if I am unable to reach anyone from it? I was hoping that my experience was a fluke, but after reading all of the reviews (not just the bad ones in my attempt not to be biased) I have come to the realization that I am not alone. While this by itself would not make me swear off of Blow Dry Style Lounge, after reading the owner's responses to reviews I will definitely not be coming back. I will not even go just to use the groupon I purchased. Not only is the responder abrasive and rude in every response, they consistently blame the customer, groupon, anyone they can place blame on that is not themselves. I decided to brush those off and give this place a try- bought a Groupon and scheduled my haircut and partial highlight. When I scheduled the earliest opening they had was a week and a half away.. not ideal but whatever I'll take it. I show up for my scheduled time and the receptionist tells me that my appointment has been cancelled. No call, nothing. They did NOTHING to my feet. They didn't clean under my nails, they didn't get rid of dead skin. What the hell is the point if your feet are still rough and horrible after your nail appointment. Don't just put some sugar scrub on our feet and pretend it did ANYTHING. I would never recommend and I do not intend to go back. I absolutely adored Victoria who did my nails, but everything else about this place kind of sucked. Granted, I bought a Groupon so I did pay a very cheap price. However, a complimentary drink was supposed to be included. I was thinking champagne. Nope, they were out on a Saturday, also my birthday. Pretty disappointed... in my restaurant if we ran out of something, someone would run and get more to keep our customers happy for the day. The receptionist was rude, not only to me but to fellow staff. The colors for nails, shellac and regular, were quite limited. I went to get my nails done for a wedding and they did not have lilac or lavender. All in all, I probably won't go back. Extremely disappointed in this salon. I purchased a great deal coupon online directly from the Style Lounge - a deal for a manicure and pedicure. I had a tough time finding an available time for an appointment, even when I offered times between 9 and 5 (when you think it would be slow). When I got an appointment scheduled well ahead of time, they canceled it 5 hours before my scheduled time and didn't provide a reason. They had confirmed it just the day before. They didn't offer any new times in the initial phone call. I called and asked for a refund and they refused. If they can't accommodate their customers and can't manage their schedule, I'd just like my money back. I have a wonderful, affordable nail salon that takes walk-ins, so why would I go here? read more
