We don't usually venture to Whyte Avenue, but we decided to try something new for the mother in laws birthday. Walking in it gave a pubish feel, and they still had their St Patrick's decor and specials on. I ordered a Guinness in the honor of my Irish friends :-) and a Jameson shot. We started with the garlic fingers served with donair sauce. I'm not a fan of the sauce but the fingers were pretty darn good. For mains I ordered mussels and clam chowder soup and the wife got fish tacos. Fist off, the food took forever to come out. Over an hour. We had an escape room to go to so when the food did finally arrive, we had to stuff our face and book it out of there. Quality of food was hit and miss. The garlic fingers were good, however the wife said the fish tacos were cold and my mussels were meah. The soup was nothing special. Too much potato and not enough of the other dressings. If I were to go again, it would strictly be for drinks and maybe appies.

Obviously if they could afford to eat here, they would not be purposely writing fake reviews out of spite The food is excellent, the manager cares, the staff cares, and Nicole is the best! Whoever is posting these angry reviews has no business being on Yelp trashing otherwise excellent restaurants for no reason beyond they cannot afford to eat here. While on Whyte ave we stopped here for a late lunch. 1:45PM Sunday it was pretty busy 80% full. But we learned that is because they have a brunch 10AM - 2PM. By 2:15PM it was only 50% full. We ordered Not from the brunch menu and were told it would be over 20minutes for food as they "switch over from brunch to lunch" and asked if that was okay. We agreed but in the future will try to avoid this time. It took 25minutes for food - I am Very happy they warned us or I would have been quite upset. Staff was very friendly and we got a refill of water once. Decor is really nice. Classy, well lit, appropriate for a bar night with friends, bringing family, date night, etc. Stools had cushions which I really appreciated and felt very comfortable. We tried the fish tacos - I like that you can order as many as you want as they are $5 each. Very good taco. Fish is not breaded but was cooked perfectly. Slaw was refreshing, and flavorful. Wrap was toasted and soft. It was a little moist for my taste as juices were leaking out making quite the mess while we tried to eat. But overall very good flavor and portion. We also tried the philly cheesesteak poutine. This was very good although we were very hungry by this time. Fries were pretty standard. Gravy was rich but could easily be from a box mix - but I do not mind a good box mix. Chese curds were authentic. steak bits were sooo tender and delicious. Green pepper was cut very thin and very cooked. Overall tasted great, portion was appropriate for the size but I can't imagine enjoying the entire thing on my own (too much fried, rich food). Overall good food, good staff, nice place.
Second chance was a charm. Lively place had a fun atmosphere with the oilers game on 2 big screens. I have to say weekends here are where its at. Great food, good drinks and great service. The service is always great here, and the beer choices are awesome (i like the wide variety of canadian beers!) I think my first visit was an off day, because my second visit was stellar. Hopefully this place can keep everything consistent for future visits. I have tried the iconic dishes on the menu and I have to say the best items on the menu are the fish and chips, the lobster rolls, and the blueberry donuts. The ratio of lobster in the rolls was perfect and I really liked how the meat was seperated from the coleslaw which really made these rolls stand out from others I have tried elsewhere. The fish is one of the best in edmonton and the donuts were an elevation of their carnival cousins. Overall, this place seems like a great weekend spot for sharing east coast comfort foods.
The best fish and chips we've had! Moist and juicy on the first bites and we were sold! Got to come back for the fisherman's basket and try more seafood. They say their seafood is flown in from the East Coast too! The tartar sauce though is amazingly good! The fries were decent, a bit salty. And we also tried the garlic fingers because that's what our East Coaster friends top recommendation was! And they were good! The vibe was chill on a Sunday it was a nice lunch stop. Prices weren't too bad either. Lots of seating and mice background music was a good date spot. It's a seat yourself which I personally prefer. Parking wise it's Whyte ave so snag what you can but the side streets were good to us! Interesting note the Caesar's were on special on Sunday and they come with donair meat on a stick which looked super intriguing.
I came here on a Sunday night with two other friends. The service was very attentive and friendly. It's a seat yourself type of place. The place was medium busy and maybe about 70% of the tables were filled when we came in. On Sundays, they have garlic fingers ($4 off) and ceaser ($2 off) specials. We ordered their garlic fingers, lobster rolls and am OG ceasar. Between three people, these dishes were enough to fill us up! Garlic fingers came in a pizza shape cut up in rectangles. Very cheesy and delicious. It came with a sweet donair sauce. My friend didn't like the sauce but I did. It depends if you're a person who likes garlic cheesy taste mixed with sweetness. One of the reasons I came to this place was because I've seen many pictures of their lobster rolls on social media so we definitely ordered it. It didn't disappoint. The mini buns were nice and crunchy. The lobster was delish and every bite was of the roll was so flavorful. I didn't try the OG Ceaser but my friend liked it. The presentation of the Ceasars must be one of the most unique in the city. It came with a donair on a stick. I haven't been to Halifax so I can't say how authentic this is. Blowers & Gafton is a great addition to the Whyte avenue scene nonetheless. It wouldn't be my first choice to pick to eat since there are many other great places on Whyte. However if I'm craving some seafood and fried food, this would be a place to go!
This is a very cool little restaurant on Whyte Avenue. They advertise as Halifax Street Food and bar, as I have never been out east I can't confirm but talking to some people from out east this is exactly what their menu is. I had their fish and chips which was very good I paid an extra six dollars for a third piece of fish that I could split with my two-year-old son. The three pieces of fish and chips fed both of us and we were both very full. The fish was very crispy and didn't get soggy on the bottom like a lot of other fish places get. We would definitely go to this place again.
I went with my husband and we shared a bucket of muscles and a plate of lobster rolls with fries. I thought it was all amazing. I had a nice beer on tap as well. I went a week later with an East coast friend of mine. She knows her fish and chops. I put them to the test. They passed. She really liked them, but the tarter sauce got the thumbs down. I like the atmosphere. The service is OK. Great music: Tragically Hip, Stompin' Tom.... There is no attitude. Its so comfy. I thought the prices were fair as well. I would like to get through the rest of the menu. Especially the pizzas.
Been wanting to eat here for a long time now but bec of the pandemic, it got delayed. Anyway. Ordered the lobster rolls with fries. Yes, they were mini. There were mini three rolls which i think was okay for its price. The bread was buttery and so good - i mean who doesnt like buttery goodness on bread? The lobster filling was just right for the size of the bread. It was not under nor over filled. And the lobster amount was generous. Only thing i did not like are the fries - they were soggy right from the time i got it. Maybe separate the fries from the rolls instead of putting them under the rolls? My mom ordered the fisherman's feast $36. I think it was a little pricey based on what she got. The fish fillets were of decent size but the clams, scallops and shrimps were of little amount. About four regular sized shrimps, five small scallops and some small clams. The seafood chowder was excellent. Better than what i had at san francisco wharf which i thought was really good.

So I am rating this purely on the Lobster boil we attened. The place was sold out and so it was super busy. The waitress though did her best to get drink orders. However service was blunt and not the friendly atmosphere that we are use to here. And since there was only one item on them menu, the food actually came out quickly. Food was okay. Lobster was good considering it needed to be flown in and they were on the bigger side. Corn was excellent. Potatoes were undercooked and the mussels were overcooked. It was hard to take them off the shell because they were that shrivelled. And the biscuits were terrible. They were an afterthought. Dry and sandy in texture. I would come back here for a restaurant for sure because we sure enjoyed the food. And they have teh best lobster rolls. But I wouldn't come back for the price point for the boil. ( I think it was close to 70 bucks a person). I will just grab my own lobster and make sure my potatoes are cooked. read more

Great foods!! Especially living in Alberta where seafood is uncommon thing, having a fresh seafood just such a great experience We had fishermen feast, lobster rolls and seafood chowder, all of them just amazing! You can smell the freshness from the foods! read more
OH. EM. GEE. Seafood? Mmm, yes! Donair nachos? A million times yes! Wish the lobster rolls had more lobster, but my friends insisted that it was pretty standard practice to not be overly generous with the lobster. There rolls were nice and buttery though, went great with the lobster. We picked the chips as the side to the rolls, but the donair nachos use the same kind of chips, so in hindsight, we should have gotten the fries. Mussels were nice and succulent. We did all agree that the donair nachos were pretty cheap on the donair meat though. We saw the fish and chips coming out to the table next to ours, and it looked great - generous portion size and smelled delicious. The prices seem a bit on the expensive side, but the food tastes great, so we will definitely be back. Great, friendly service. Dishes came out pretty fast, but it was a weekday afternoon and the place wasn't too busy. It's right on Whyte, so no free parking unless you venture out further away. read more

We randomly passed blowers and grafton during a little shopping trip to whyte ave and we thought it looked charming so we decided to stop in for a bite instead of driving home. The inside is super cozy and relaxing, I loved it! We we're suggested some great drinks and food. We went with the donair as its wednesday's special with fries and gravy and the b+g house salad with shrimp. We are from a small town that has amazing donairs and have not found a single good donair in Edmonton and surrounding area. WELL! this is your place for a serious good donair, quality meat and seriously good sweet sauce! everything we ate was delicious. The fries.. oh my goodness. This place was great! Even my salad was delicious!! It had so much flavour and didn't feel heavy at all. It was refreshing! BUT I can't stop there... Sandy W deserves a raise. She was so kind and knowledgeable over the menu and recommendations. We had a great date night. Give this place a try! Food is great and so is the service! read more
We first visited this place after reading some reviews about how good the restaurant is for its seafood dish. After being served with an incorrect dish, we finally got what we ordered. Fisherman's Platter consists Atlantic haddock, fried steamer clams, scallops and prawns. Due to being served with Fish N' Chips previously, the food was free. However I have to come into a conclusion that everything in deep fry must be good! We decided to come here as it had recently opened and had all sorts of great reviews. Since it was Saturday night around 7 it was pretty busy but we didn't wait more than 10-15 minutes which I thought wasn't bad for a Saturday night. As we were seated, and given a few minutes to look over the menu, the selection of food was very straight forward and mostly things you'd expect to find at a bar or pub. They have a large selection of pizza options, as well as your typical assortment of seafood (fish, clam, scallops) and chips, other seafood options as you'd expect from a Halifax themed restaurant, and what they call an "OG Halifax Donair". We decided to get the Garlic Fingers to start, as well as a large OG Halifax Donair, and a Clam Po' Boy for myself. If you were thinking about getting a pizza as an entree I would strongly advise against the garlic fingers because the garlic fingers is a cheesy mozzarella pizza with garlic butter, served with donair sauce as a dip. The donair sauce is very sweet, and at first feels strange to pair with the garlic cheese bread, but the more you eat it the more it seems to work. The Clam Po' Boy was a bit dry and more tart than I expected. It's not something I would personally get again, but it wasn't a bad sandwich by any means, it just didn't wow me. The donair on the other hand was one of the best donairs I've had in a long time, the meat was flavourful, the sauce worked perfectly in harmony with all the other ingredients, and it was just a solid donair. The service was very friendly and often checked in on us despite it being so busy. My only other comment would be that this place was a bit on the louder side, from the music, to all the people wanting to have conversations over the loud music, it just isn't a great environment if you're looking to have a conversation on a first date or something like that, but if you're looking for a fun place to get some good pub Halifax style pub food and some drinks, this is the spot to hit up. read more

Five stars does not indicate five star dining in this review. The high rating is because this establishment hits every mark for the category it is in. Casual dining that gives more than we've come to expect in Edmonton. Self seating was in effect but somebody welcomed us and told us to sit wherever we would like. Efficient. Upon first glance the menu looks small but don't judge there is a lot to choose from. We arrived hungry and ordered fried pepperoni while we perused the menu choices. We were back and forth and between three of us we ended up with two pizzas and one lobster roll with side salad. Pepperoni - we weren't sure what was going to arrive but make sure you try these. Hot or mild with honey mustard dip. Donair pizza - lots of places have this pizza on the menu but be sure this one is better than any one you've tried previously. The donair sauce is generous and on point. Zambian Pizza - it was good but not memorable. Lobster Roll was perfectly flavoured. We took away the chips and bun and added a side salad. It came on a bed of coleslaw so the salad wasn't necessary. I requested a grilled lemon on the side which was a good addition. Blueberry Donuts - order and discover for yourself. We will return and already know we are going to have pepperoni, mussels, donair and fish tacos. Almost forgot about the decor - very well done. Thanks Blowers and Grafton well played. Once I heard they have lobster rolls, Blowers & Grafton was at the top of my list of new places to try! I came here for one thing only. The lobster rolls. MINI lobster rolls (thanks for the misleading pictures, fellow internet people). Size aside, the lobster rolls were delicious and satisfied my craving. I don't think you could get any better in Edmonton (I'm only aware of one other restaurant that has lobster rolls as a regular menu item). I also tried the garlic fingers, as I've heard they are "just like back home". I mean, you can't go wrong with a boatload of cheese and garlic. Now, I have no comparison for authentic Halifax street food, but if you like seafood, pizza, or donairs, you probably won't disappointed here. read more
The food was okay if you're craving east coast cuisine. The portions are average and the price is kinda steep. My guest and I shared a bowl of Atlantic Seafood Chowder soup and the Mini Lobster Rolls appetizer. The Seafood Chowder was creamy and had all the elements you expect: seafood pieces, potatoes, onions, celery, carrots, and fresh dill. It wasn't overly salty which I appreciated. The dish doesn't come with any bread or crackers but it doesn't really need it. The mini lobster rolls are accurate, they are mini. They come with hand cut fries or kettle chips made in house. We got the chips and They offered a dipping sauce, which came at an extra charge. The chips were nice and crispy and not too salty. My guest enjoyed the dipping sauce so I guess it was worth it. The order comes with 3 mini rolls and there's not a ton of lobster in it but it is an appetizer. The flavour was mild but balanced. They don't have physical menus, instead you use your smart phone to scan the QR code on the table and view it in a browser. It's a neat process and limits the printing cost to the business. The ambiance is kind of dark in there so it feels cozy I guess. Of course the tables are spaced well for Covid precautions. They also have plexiglass screens on tables to separate them from their neighbours. We were on Whyte Ave a few weeks after our visit and considered going again but decided against it cuz our lunch cost $40 before tip. That's a bit more than I'd want to pay for lunch on a regular basis. read more

Get here now. This place is going to blow up, well it already is. Atmosphere here is very authentic and unique. The staff was extremely personable and well willing to go out of their way. And then the food...Josh is the brains behind the food and he is something of a genius. What not to miss is the OG Caesar and the lobster rolls. You are welcome. Tam and Sam are the masterminds behind this eatery. And they will take care of you. They are very eager to listen to feedback (more sauce) and are working on ideas for a cool brunch menu. This is the second "street food" joint (Dorinku is down the road with Tokyo street food) and I see a trend developing. I, for one, would be very supportive of a Whyte Ave full of street food from around the world. How amazing would that be? Also, they use cardboard straws. High-five B&G! read more
Loved the whole experience here! Found the decor and atmosphere very welcoming with a very modern Pub feel. We tried out their Garlic bread sticks which were incredible the Donair sauce pairs so well you will basically consider ordering another ( they come in a pizza shape maybe 10in but not sure on that, enough to share 2-4ppl) Then the Fish n chips with their amazing Tartar sauce to top it off made us fans. Wow, we LOVED our visit here. Heather and I love Halifax (my favorite Canadian city) so we were excited to try this place and made a point of it this past Saturday when we were in the Whyte Ave area. We loved the restaurant itself and all the pictures of Halifax on the walls. Our server was amazing, and the selection of Nova Scotia beers was awesome. We had the Donair Nachos (DO IT... these are absolutely amazing, the thin sliced potatoes instead of tortilla chips perfects these. We added jalapenos and they added some kick!) and two fish tacos (grilled fish, not deep fried. Excellent). We loved our meals, our beers, our service and the room itself. What else can you say? Came to B&G on a Saturday evening. We had already made a Plan B, in case we couldn't get it. There were only a couple of seats at the bar so we took those. The gal working behind the bar was friendly and we ordered drinks. We were looking through the menu and decided to go with the Almost Famous Donair Nachos and the B&G Poutine (nice healthy choices there). The host that seated us, asked us if we wanted a table and we decided that we'd move. The server at the table was super friendly and joked around with us. Our food arrived and the first bites into the Nachos... oh man... Delish ! The nachos aren't corn chips, but instead made with potato. So much better than the standard nachos. The donair sauce that is drizzled on the nachos is sweet - which is the Halifax style. I like it but I can see where others might not. The poutine had some very rich gravy with it. Both dishes were very good. Overall, the place is fairly small, and quite loud, so if you are looking for an intimate place, this might not be what you are looking for. Our server was really good and for the most part it's good value. Our food took a little bit longer to come out, a bit longer than I thought, but it was busy and it was Saturday evening. I'm going to go ahead and say the B&G is my favorite place for food + ambience on Whyte. There are so many spectacular restaurants in the area but what I like about this one is its casual bar atmosphere, windows that slide open onto a front patio during the summer, cheery cocktails and most of all their Halifax inspired nosh. The garlic fingers (add bacon) are an insanely good comfort food appetizer and their donair pizza is the bomb. My husband loves their garlic and mushroom pizza which has arugula and lemon on it (yum!). Their salads are perfect for two to share with a pizza. Oh I must not forget the fried pepperoni which you can get in regular or TNT(spicy). Overall pretty much my favorite place for casual Saturday/Sunday hangs and yummy comfort food.
