A solid neighbourhood pub-type family restaurant: this place has such an expansive menu! When I visited with my service club, it was wing night so I got the salt and pepper wings alongside a soup. The soup was a sizable portion and was really tasty. The wings were great both fresh in the restaurant and as leftovers. This place isn't fancy but does the job well. All of the people in the group got food that they liked and I appreciated the fact that there were different portion sizes of some of the dishes! If I had the need for this type of restaurant experience in this area of town again, I'd be sure to consider this place. read more

Came here for supper with a couple people. Place was 50% full at 5PM. Lots of parking in the communal strip-mall parking lot. I tried the Beef dip. 6/10. Was very dry, cheese costed extra, au jus was pretty bland. I got the side salad and it was simple but good. Friend 1 got the Reuben and loved it. Soft bun, good portion meat, good sauces. He got the soup (Beef barley) and it was quite nice - very homemade feeling. Friend 2 got the Whiskey Jack Burger and said it was fine. She got the sweet potato fries and they were 9/10 good - just needed a touch more salt. read more

This was my first visit to this café. I was pleasently surprised. Service was immediate and friendly. The coffee came quickly as did our orders. My guest and I both had the standard breakfast which, I believe, is available all day. She said we can have hash browns or a bowl of fruit. It was nice to have the option because I'm tired of hash browns. The breakfast was definitely better than average, with 21 grain bread (excellent) the fruit and berries, etc. The coffee was your standard restaurant coffee, not better but not worse, it was okay. The café was really busy at around 11.30am but there were also lot of staff and they seemed happy. The WiFi is password protected so ask the server for a password however if they are always this busy I don't think that this is the kind of place that you bring your laptop and work for a couple of hours. I recommend you try Muggn'z out, especially if you're in the west end. There is a separate lounge for the evening. read more

Was there for breakfast recently, ordered a benny soft poached. Eggs came medium, had the server come around in the first few minutes I'd have been able to send them back but I was hungry and she was busy talking to her friends (or whomever it was behind me, then coworkers in front of me). The hollandaise sauce was more like a semi-creamy broth of some sort, not sure exactly. The hashbrowns actually came extra crispy but if it weren't for the ketchup, would have been tasteless. I came in tired and dressed highly casual as I was prepping all night for contractors who were in my condo while I was killing time, perhaps she thought I'd have been a crappy customer who wasn't going to tip. Still gave her $5 on a $24 bill because I'm just like that. But avoid this place for breakfast, it's less than stellar. read more

So we went to this place because it was featured on a Global News food segment. On the segment they claimed to have the best hash browns in the City. They were absolutely NOT they were bagged frozen cubes, similar to the ones you'd get at a husky gas station truck stop. They also said during the segment the Benny omelet was the most popular item on the brunch menu. Horrific absolutely Horrific! The hollandaise sauce tasted like it was right out of the can. Cheese used was brick sliced into chunks which is fine but it was unmelted in the omelet. I had an original eggs benny again the hollandaise was horrific, one of my eggs was completely uncooked the English muffin was raw rubbery, no way it was even toasted. I don't know if the back bacon used could've gotten any thinner, Jesus toss 2 slices on!? Very Very Very low quality dishes! On a positive our server was very nice as was the dude at the door they were both on the segment. The Caesar was on special for 5.50. Global needs to their diligence on places that there show casing I feel like I should be sending my bill to global for a full refund. Sad thing is I picked this place over places like OEB, high level diner and DeDutch. Crazy I know Idk maybe some other dishes are better? Had some pre-Easter errands to run and didn't feel like making breakfast myself so opted to try out Muggn'z. I went in with very low expectations, as I normally would for a neighbourhood pub. Boy was I wrong!! With the family side bumpin' busy, we sat on the pub side, which was fairly slow. We were warmly greeted and sat where we wanted. Our server quickly fetched up some menus, and asked us what we wanted to drink. While she grabbed our drinks we made our way through the menu and decided upon a classic "house breakfast". Food came out VERY FAST!! Even with a very busy restaurant, I was very impressed. Food was hot and exactly what I ordered. Nothing spectacular, but it's a simple breakfast. No complaints. read more

Have walked by this place a bunch on my way into the Shoppers, but hadn't been in before now. I'm new to the west side, so I'm trying all sorts of places I hadn't been to before. I decided to take a Sunday to relax with breakfast out before a visit to the farmers market. Since Muggn'z (what is with that ridiculous name? I might have gone in before now if it weren't for that) is right next door, I decided to support local. It took quite a while for me to be acknowledged, and a while longer to even see a menu. But once I was, everything went smoothly. I ordered the Greek omelette and coffee. The omelette was good-- feta, black olives and herbs, but it was a bit salty. I think it's a Greek seasoning that they use that contains salt. With black olives, you usually don't need much salt. The potatoes were nice and hot and crispy outside and soft inside. And the rye toast was...rye toast. The coffee was on the meh side. But as far as breakfasts go, I've had far worse. The price wasn't bad, and the service was good (once it happened). read more

The food was amazing. This was my third time eating here, and I absolutely will be coming regularly. The service was fairly fast which surprised me as a waitress because they were so busy! The food was fast as well. I can't remember my servers name unfortunately, but I told her I was running low on time, and she was very understanding about that. I actually came here 2 days before that as well, and I got the skillet and it was delicious as well. Also can I just say, the bacon here is the best I've ever had. I said I wanted my eggs fluffy, and they weren't, but it wasn't a big deal. It's a great place and it's clean too. Very loud so don't come here if you want peace and quiet, but it's a sports bar so that was expected, and it wasn't an issue for us. The potato skins were very good but pricey... or maybe I'm just cheap aha. But I like this place a lot. read more

Muggnz isn't really special or different. That's why it's good, I guess. It's old-fashioned and simple. Just good food and good service at decent prices. What more could you want when you're hungry? I tried the seafood fettucini and loved it. My vegan sister had a Peach Beyond Beef burger, and she swears it's her favorite new thing. Who knew? My mom likes the lasagna and Auntie had a clubhouse sandwich. It's actually a pretty extensive menu with all the old favorites. If that's your thing, go for it. Came to Muggn's as it's very close to where I live and I thought I really should give it a try and support a local business. Came in on a Saturday around noon, and we were a bit surprised that it wasn't busier, but during the pandemic, I was actually thankful for the few patrons. We were lead to a booth and noticed that there were a number of tables that had plexiglass partitions up and thought that those tables were being blocked off. As we sat and waited for our food, that was not the case and all of the tables were filled. When we had arrived the host met us right away and showed us to a booth. Large enough for 6 people if needed. Menus were all via QR codes. Our server was by to take our orders, and because Muggn'z is a diner/pub, I thought I'd go for something that was in line with that type of food. Went with the Beef Dip. Our orders seem to take a while to come out, and once on the table all was good. Not great, but definitely good. There are plenty of TVs around so if you are into your sports, you will have something to hold your attention. Overall, it's a large space with large tables. I was a bit surprised to see that they will allow every table to be used, especially with our pandemic/social distancing measures. The food is good, and it's what you'd expect for pub/diner. Prices are decent and the servers are all very good ! I'll hit up Muggn'z again at some point in the future. read more

This place gets it wrong in so many ways. First off, clean the place. Dust everywhere and food all over the floor. There was a fry on the floor close to the entrance when we came in and it was still there when we left. Health code violations I found out about after eating here. This was our second time here. Both times there were issues with the quality of food. Fries aren't good, gravy is bland, salt and pepper wings were dripping with grease. My partner's burger was good but my crispy buffalo chicken sandwich was just a large breaded processed chicken strip with a little buffalo sauce put one side. Baked potato soup had a weird flavour and it wasn't hot. Total for mediocre food in a dirty restaurant was $65. Service was good hence the 2 stars. Never again. read more

Yes, the food is nothing to rave about. Yes, the coffee is terrible. And yes, I love coming here. I think it's nice to have a neighbourhood spot you can go to when you just feel like something basic, casual and comfortable. The modern decor and cleanliness of Muggn'z make it far nicer than most other diners in the city. The food, although nothing special, is satisfying. I mostly come here for breakfast, but have also had lunch here a few times. The home fries are really good. For me, breakfast potatoes make or break a breakfast joint. We come here every week. It's our local pub and my hubby has been coming here for 30 years since he moved to Canada. The pub has a great local atmosphere and the family side is also great. Extensive menu...the breakfasts are always good. For lunch and dinner I would recommend their hand formed burgers, chicken wings, or one of the daily soup and sandwich specials. The staff are like family and they treat you like gold. The owner is awesome and will always come and say hi when he's there. Give it a try if you're in the west end! read more

There were two waitresses on duty and although busy they always were attentive, courteous and friendly. I wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was on the inside, I was expecting more sports bar style. The booths are comfy, so that's a plus. Service was so-so, it seemed as though we were more of an inconvenience to our server rather than customers. It's pretty hard to screw up breakfast, except someone can't seem to tell the difference between white & brown toast. But that's minor. We have been here a few times now. I really enjoy taking our kids here as they actually get a fair amount of food for them and they love that. The prices on the menu are pretty straight forward and seem reasonable. The only thing that irked me was yesterday when we went, our daughter wanted chocolate milk. Well, on the menu it says $.99 for milk/juice substitute from pop for kids and we got charged $2.99. The reason being they brought it in a large glass instead of a small plastic cup that the normally use. We didn't ask for a larger one they just brought that out. Also, the coffee isn't good at all. Breakfast though is very delicious and worth the pricing. I would definitely keep going for breakfast but make sure to choose different drinks. read more

Been there years ago. A former friend turned me onto the place. When I lived in the area I guess I went there more. Use to be a location in St. Albert too but guess it's gone now. Anyway went for breakfast on a Sunday in the summer. Always busy then as there is a farmers market right outside. Checked the website first to see the menu and the prices. After getting my meal, was a little shocked it was more than what their website said it was going to be. Maybe I shouldn't have been, after all who knows the last time they updated their website. Obviously the prices changed since then. Would be NICE to keep you site with your prices listed, UP TO DATE so your customers and potential customers know what to expect!! Been there twice since then, well including the busy Sunday. Never got my order brought to me by my server, they have hired younger staff for that. Tip, if you're going to be in the hospitality industry, try and be a "little" cheery. I know it's a hard job and you have many tables and you get dumped on for everything that goes wrong, and it seems there is more bad than good, but just because your having a bad day or don't like your job, isn't the persons fault who comes in, buys the subpar food to me is OVER PRICED ( I myself make just over what the new Alberta standard for minimum wage is starting sept 1st, and I work overnight for a company that says they value workers but it's the money they care about) and keeps you in a job. I don't treat our customers like we'd be better off if they stayed home. This was my second visit to Muggnz. This particular visit I was quite disappointed with the food. I ordered French toast which is a classic breakfast dish. The French toast was bland and soggy. The toast had no flavour and when it arrived at my table it was cold. I smothered it in syrup and ate a little of the dish. I will return to Muggnz despite this unfortunate experience.
