They trained my black lab and I couldn't have been happier. I went on weekends to visit and one of the trainers always spent time with me so that I could learn about how they train. No barking is ever heard from the kennels which is wonderful - and NO, they don't hit dogs to keep them quiet. Their training methods WORK!!! I would recommend them to anyone and have! read more

We brought our dog here simply for boarding, the gentleman said he would have his dog bark at our dog and see his response, we assumed it would be bark on command type deal, but NO, his dog came out and violently barked at our dog and even bit at our dog through the fence, our dog did not respond at first but after about 20 seconds of this, our dog finally responded and stood up for himself and growled back. Within 5 seconds I knew I'd never want my dog to stay with this guy, I wish my dog had of growled back sooner, our dog is very friendly and loves to play with other dogs but he is a German Shepherd and is not a chump. So this guys whole "evaluation" is to have his dog threaten violence against your dog, and apparently he wants a dog that will just stand there and take it for however long he deems to be appropriate. Just know, if you bring your dog here, he will expose your dog to violence intentionally immediately, and this may affect how your dog responds to other dogs in the future, it's really not cool. We have kenneled multiple dogs with Roddy at blowing Springs. They are not just a boarding service though. We were having lots of discipline issues out of our last dog that was a Weimaraner and took him to blowing Springs for training. When he came back and was finished he was a new dog and a better trained dog. Most of the time with obedience it's not always the dogs fault it's the owners and they take the Time to help you help your dog. When we lost our last dog to heart problems and we saw that Roddy had just had a litter there was no hesitation on our part to buy one of his labs. We could not be happier with our choice. If you have a dog that has not been trained or is hyper then this is not the best boarding choice for you. read more

Best place to board your pets in the area. Friendly staff that takes care of your pet like it is their own. Blowing Springs is also a great place to have your dog trained. Can't speak enough great things about this place. I brought my 8 weeks Goldendoodle here for their one month training and couldn't be happier. I bring my dog to work everyday and don't run into any issues with chewing, barking, or jumping on customers. If you're getting a puppy or dog, make sure you bring it here for training. I brought my dog here for training when she was 1 year old. We had taken 2 months worth of training at PetSmart (puppy and intermediate) with no improvement. The difference in her performance and obedience after just one week at Blowing Springs was night and day. I was so impressed with the results that after 3 years I am still a big believer in the work that they do. They provide helpful, constructive feedback and will work with you to ensure you have the tools you needs to be successful when you take the dog home. Watch out for the bate and switch. I called then and spoke to them about their puppies and told me that they had a few for $1,000 and some for $2,000. The following day I called and confirmed when I again asked for the address to make sure I imputed it correctly in the my GPS. When I got there after a 21/2 hour drive from Atlanta I was told that I had to speak to a different lady and the price was suddenly $3,500. That said,they do have beautiful dogs and the people there are friendly and their training seems great but they could have saved me a long trip for nothing. read more

If you are looking for a doggy spa and a place to have your dog take mud baths along with pawdicures then this is not it. This is the first kennel that I can leave my two dogs at to be trained and not have to worry about them being attacked by other dogs. If you open your mind you will realize that all the training conducted serves a purpose and in the long run you will have a dog that is well behaved and gets along with all family members and other dogs. I have a rescue and a fully trained lab who absolutely love this place. If you bring your dog here and take the training to heart you too can become a better dog owner. We boarded or dog with blowing springs a few times, and will never do so again. Our dog is a good natured rescue dog who was a little skittish around strangers at first, but quickly settled in. Months after he settled down, we began boarding him at blowing springs during our vacations. The second time we inquired about training. One of the trainers "worked" with him in front of us which entailed kicking him across the room. We indicated we weren't interested in that kind of training, and figured he'd be fine to just board. We boarded him one more time and he came home with large welts on his head and face. Now he is extremely aggressive towards men. So much that we can't have people in our home without locking him up. He has never been like this until we took him to blowing springs. We are working with him to slowly undo the damage. I understand that there are many different effective ways to train a dog, and their method may work for some, but certainly not for our dog. read more

In the case you are seeking only to board your dog at Blowing Springs Kennel, the owner will critique your dog and your training of him/her with little tact and in a somewhat condescending way. In my opinion, he is not professional with customers and in the event I was seeking to spend a lot of money getting my dogs "perfectly trained" by this acclaimed "perfect dog trainer" I would not feel comfortable with his help and arrogant, know it all attitude. The staff there is also not too friendly I might add. Friendly, tactful people makes sales and keep customers - duh! To add & be clear to Blowing Spring's comment back - I was not a new customer... my puppy (10 mo old German Shepherd) in addition to my other dog who has stayed there before was new and of course they have tendency toward aggression. The way he was evaluated was a quick walk up to and along a fence with another dog on the other side... He barked and his hair raised but he likely felt defensive being held on leash on the other side of fence. I have no problems with him at off leash dog parks and neutral territory places. I was also "educated" that was not proper as well as for as socializing. However, his inability to be boarded was not what really displeased me - rules are understandable. I also remember from my previous experience feeling talked down to with regards to my other dogs collar and weight - which could have been appreciated but the tact/manner in which my "truth" or "education" was given was impolite. I am paying you to board my dog not for you or your staff to give me advice in a condescending way on how to raise him - there is a way to do it right, professionally, and sensitively -- especially when you are trying to sell your services. read more

Sent our (then 8 month old) Catahoula for their month long training program. While our dog definitely is better about some things, I struggle with justifying the cost. We basically have to remind him daily of how to walk properly, stay off furniture, etc but I will say once we do that he is good. The one thing that I really wanted help with was essentially not addressed and I was told "it was tricky." Our dog really would t act up in front of the trainers as he didn't want to be in trouble by them. He still wants to jump on everyone he comes across and is super excited and hard to contain. Although he does try to contain himself better than before. He still tries to surf countertops and still knocks down the grand-babies when playing. The staff were all nice and gave us advice that has certainly been useful. I would venture to say they care more about training dogs to hunt, etc than training them to be household pets. While I am grateful for the things I learned and the training they provided I don't feel justified in the final result versus the cost. read more

My sons dog Oxford (lab, golden, poodle) just turned 1 & he is a smart well behaved dog (half horse) thanks to the constant reinforcement approach that has been taught to him since he was a pup. The staff and owners are forceful but Oxford (80+ pounds). Thanks to their teachings I can control Ox when I take him for a walk in our neighborhood !!! read more
