Husband and I started what we thought would be a simple backyard project a year and a half ago that spun out of our control and with our limited time we ended up needing professional help. James and his crew graded the yard, paved a path and patio area for us, refreshed our irrigation system, and put down new sod. It looks awesome. the timeline got stretched a little bit from what we originally expected but there were some unavoidable hurdles like weather. Update: because the project finished in early summer last year, we did not have to use our sprinklers for some time after completion with the amount of rain we were getting. In the fall when we turned them on again we noticed a geyser coming up between the bricks near one sprinkler. It resulted in a lot of dirt and sand being deisplaced beneath the pavers. We were hesitant to repair ourselves and ruin the nice job James had done, so we contacted him about having someone from his crew come repair it. Well it's practically June now and despite several communications and assurances that someone would come out we have not heard from him since early April. I hired Blu Landscaping to landscape my front yard, and everything went beautifully. After my initial call, the owner made an appointment with me right away, showed up on time, and then sent his designer out later the same day. I had a beautiful design delivered to me the next day, along with a very competitive quote, and my landscaping was finished a week later, according to design. Everyone showed up when they said they would and they kept in constant communication. I've had some rough experiences with home service companies, but had no issues with Blu. Good work from landscapers and they were able to fit the job in their busy schedule. However, the reason for the average review has to do with Blu Not completing the job, the last 10%. James is really in the right business. He came over, discussed what my intent was and made it happen. I wanted to create privacy between different units on my property and he made it happen with nice pavers, beautiful tropical trees and he even took me shopping for some plants to put into pots. I contracted James Rester Jr on 7/21/2017 to completley redo my front lawn and flower beds. Also to install a cement slab in my driveway and install pavers along side my driveway. The excavation, the installation of the retaining wall, new shrubs, the cement slab was fine. When the so called pavers were installed and finding out much later that they actually were patio blocks The truck arrived with 5 yards of rock to be put into the flower beds and the weight of that truck cracked, chipped, or broken the patio blocks. It's almost a year that I've been fighting with James to replace them with real pavers. We had texted, calls back and forth with promises that it will be corrected and new pavers would be installed. At this point he has not called me or no compensation has been offered. I will not contract him again ever. I gave him a great review after the job was completed and called him a professional. But I take that back cause he doesn't care about the consumer who has paid him a lot of money. I don't recommend anyone doing business with him ever if you do you might regret it. read more
