    Beef tacos

Unfortunately, I was only able to eat at Blue Agave once during my stay at Paradisus, but it was a great visit! I'm sad I was unable to figure out the schedule so I could go again! While there I ordered 2 beef tacos and a mimosa. The tacos came out with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was just ok, but the chips were really good, and the tacos were FANTASTIC! They came with a green sauce I wanted to pour on everything! Had I known I wouldn't return, I'd have ordered way more tacos!

Family style- quesadillas, tacos, chips guacamole & salaa

Came here for lunch and dinner during our stay, it was a very nice go-to restaurant that had availability for seating majority of the time without a wait. The tacos were nice bite sizes so you can try all of them. My favorite was the shrimp soup- MUST GEt if you love seafood!! And the quesadillas were made to perfection- I liked the plabano with corn the most. A lot of my friends liked the beef tongue too that comes in a taco form. We got family style too so we were able to try a bunch of stuff. Add the appetizer salsa and guacamole in your taco to make it more tasty!

Our group of 7 wanted to go downtown Isla Mujeres and downtown Cancun with a mission - to find authentic street tacos that we crave so much out in California. We never expected Blue Agave to beat out the majority of tacos we tried in the streets! The meat was high quality, perfectly spiced. Guacamole was fresh. Quesadillas.. Omg! Several people said it was the best they'd ever had. Slight crunch on the outside, generous melted cheese with tender chicken, pork, or beef inside. Don't forget to order an Ojo Rojo - kind of like a bloody mary but made with beer, and not super salty like bloody Mary's in the US. It's very refreshing. Service waS friendly and attentive, albeit a little slower. However, a lot of all inclusive restaurants and buffets are the same and this was faster than the others. Huge bonus that most restaurants are closed for lunch except this and the main buffet. We had no problem eating here daily! No one got sick of it. And I'm not even a huge fan of mexican food. Or maybe I always was. Just not a fan of crappy mexican food If you stay at paradisus, this place is a MUST. No reservations needed and resort casual attire is fine.

A very nice, casual place with attentive service and very good food. We chose Blue Agave for our first dinner in Cancun, because our concierge said we didn't need reservations and he was right. It wasn't too crowded at all at 7 PM on a Saturday. Complimentary chips came out fast with small bowlls of salsa, guacamole, and a spicy smoky sauce. We ordered two taco plates (around 30 pesos or $2 each), a quesadilla plate (even cheaper( and 2 bowls of shrimp soup (about 75 pesos or around 10 bucks. The tacos were small and served on round corn tortillas -very reminiscent of what we get at Bartaco in Connecticut. The flavors were terrific- a great combination of warm tortillas, meats, veggies and spices. The shrimp soup was not memorable, it was salty and had a pretty high concentration of shells in it. Bottome line? Good food, OK service, rock bottom prices. A-OK in my book

Oh we ordered just about everything on the menu. Hubby loved the lengua and I enjoyed just about everything else on the menu. All their food is fresh and it's all taco style so that's how we tried everything. This place had a mariachi band that went table to table! This is how you eat in Cancun

    Chorizo and chicken tacos

The service was great tacos delicious I could eat 30 of them the the spicy dip they had for chips was amazing

They have the best ap pastor and carnitas tacos! Guacamole and salsa was amazing as well! This is my favorite restaurant in paradisus

The staff is very friendly and helpful. This place is a 10/10 in my book. I honestly hope they expand to more locations and eventually come to the USA. This place would be a hit in New York. I loved the tiki bar esthetic lots of palms and reeds. Great music and they were playing the Knicks game when we arrived. Really an awesome place. Probably great for grab and go as well. I was there with my wife and kids but I could really see how this place is great for a date or quick bite with friends. Not a huge restaurant there were maybe four or five high tables but they use the space very well.

I was staying at a hotel next door, WAITING to try this place. I came before it opened was told to come back at at 8. I had an excursion booked and was waiting on my shuttle at my hotel, I asked the blonde bartender how long it would be for 2 burritos, she assured me 5-10 minutes. She said she UNDERSTOOD I couldn't missed my shuttle for my trip and it would be fast!! By 8:30, my shuttle had arrived and I had to leave. I told the bartender I can't wait any longer and had to leave, she asked would I be coming back tonight after my excursion. I told her I would. When I came back at almost 9pm, I had to go back and forth with the manager about what happened. He said he understood about catching the shuttle and he had to make a call to his boss. After 45minutes of waiting and going back and forth, he said his boss checked the camera and I left even after waiting half an hour for 2 burritos, so I get no refund and no burritos!! I SHOWED HIM SCREEN SHOTS OF MY RECEIPT WITH THE TIME I was charged and the time I had to leave!!AND HE ACCUSED ME OF LYING SAYING I SHOULD'VE WAITED LONGER than half an hour, so he wouldn't help, just argue with me about why I left? I came back later that night thinking they would give me a burrito that I paid for!!! To go back and work and argue over something so frivolous, after THEIR EMPLOYEES misinformed me of the time it would take!!! If the PERSON YOU HAVE AT THE FRONT IS TELLING PEOPLE IT CAN BE MADE IN 5-10 minutes THATS WHAT SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED!!! They took my money and REFUSED THE COMPENSATE!! Then the manger accused me of lying - disgusting business and unprofessional management. Took my money and my food. Trash business. Unprofessional service. While we were arguing, other people weee complaining about their service too. If you're a tourist, DONT COME HERE!

Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. The service was flashy but slow, and we followed the waiter's recommendations for both an appetizer and our entrees. He told my girlfriend her entrée didn't come with a side, so we ordered one. After several cocktails, her entrée arrived--but mine never did. I sat there watching her eat while I waited. When I asked the waiter where my meal was, he simply said, "it is not working." I then asked a manager for help, but he disappeared and never returned. The bill came with no apology, no explanation, no discount, and nothing complimentary. It was an awkward and uncomfortable way to end what was supposed to be a special evening. Mistakes happen, but what really bothered me was that there was no effort to acknowledge the problem or make it right. I do not recommend. Me quedé sentado viéndola comer mientras yo esperaba.

I took some notes and this is what I thought of the dishes. Xoajacan Imoladas - The mole is perfection. The flautas, superb. Everything in this plate is a symphony of what I would expect from Xoajaca. 9.5/10 Barbacoa Bonemarrow - Barcacoa is on point. The Marrow is Sublime. Together with the accompaniments is superb. I dream of Marrow everyday. This is a 10/10 Yellow fin Tosatadas - Superb!!! One of the best tostadas I have ever had. The microgreens, the sauce and the square Tostada works well all together. 8.8/10 Salmon - Cooked perfectly. The corn is a great accompaniment. The fish is impeccably seasoned. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak. Needs a little more zip, some citrus or vinegar would give this salad some justice. Its a little uninspired 7/10 Service is impeccable and attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.

Anyway: the food, presentation of the dishes itself, and the overall vibe: 4/5. My favorite dish was definitely the steak. I should've took more pictures of the food but whatever- the mango tuna thing with avocado was delicious. Very mango forward. Great alongside some salsa as well. The octopus: OK enough, slightly overcooked. Chewy. Chicharron guac was yum. It's pretty hidden so be sure to look for the Marina Sunrise sign ( see in my pictures). You walk upstairs and through a Starbucks pop up store/convenience store and then back down to the patio. Very small area but all tables have a gorgeous view of the water and if you get there at opening time (8am) like I did, you get to see the guys getting the rental boats ready for a fun day out on the water. This place is sooo inexpensive and really tasty! If you're looking for a break from the overpriced hotel breakfasts, this is your place. For 90 pesos ( roughly $4 USD) you get your choice of eggs, meat, OJ, coffee. That's a serious bargain. I mixed it up and got scrambled eggs with chorizo and got Grapefruit instead of OJ and opted out of coffee since it was already so hot outside. They also provide delicious tortillas. Totally worth every penny and more! Back home a basic breakfast like this would have run me close to $17, so it was nice to get a break for breakfast not costing you as much as other meals.
