Was not asked if I wanted a drink refill both water and my cocktail. Food is OK. I had lunch steet tacos. Waiter did not check back to see if order was correct or if food was ok. Did not bring bill. Had a party of 4, and all of our food was delicious! I had the street tacos - so flavorful. I've had chips, salsa and queso at restaurants many times, and it often is an indicator as to how good/mediocre the rest of the food is going to be. That was the case at Blue Agave as well. The chips, salsa and queso were delicious! I had the Spicy Mango margarita-it was very tasty!! Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu! No complaints about the service / just needed more napkins and silverware. read more

Had been hesitant to stop as I don't believe many Mexican restaurants on the westside serve anything close to authentic fare. Table ordered- Benito Burrito A large flour tortilla stuffed with grilled chicken, rice, and black beans. Topped with cheese sauce, chorizo, jalapeno, and pineapple. Barbacoa bowl mix of greens, black beans, avocado, cilantro, white rice, Pico de gallo, sour cream Paloma and spicy margarita. Glad I stopped place was on point both from a service, drink and food standpoint (tasty and large portions). Prices are inline with other places on the west side. Also, due primarily to how busy they were, the service wasn't nearly as good / prompt as in previous visits, so dropped to a 4*. For dinner, I ordered the Spicy Tortilla Soup (see picture) and thought it tasted very good, with a nice kick. My wife ordered the Fajitas Shrimp (see picture) and also liked it a lot - be aware that it is a very large portion, with almost enough food for 2 people on this plate. I need to follow up on my original review. We visited this establishment again. Service was initially great. Drinks and food came out fast. But.....the Burrito Azteca did not have shrimp or chicken in it and the Coronarita was not frozen as advertised. Both were still good, but we were somewhat disappointed. And again, the time it took to pay took forever. It seems that once you get your food and everything is good, you get forgotten about. We waited forever to leave this place. Frustrating. For these reasons I'm downgrading to 4 stars. This place costs too much to have these annoyances. read more

No.1 is service. Geronimo was our server & oh my word, he had us laughing, checked in on us multiple times & was the pinnacle of our visit. He shared stories with us afterwards & we hope to get him again!! The restraunt it sent is beautiful & the decor inside is gorgeous. A large open space where you can hear each other & enjoy a meal. All of the food looked so amazing & we struggled to select what to try first!! The food was BEAUTIFUL. All of the options were so macro friendly & we had drinks galore. I got the mango habanero margarita - it was too spicy for my britches but I stayed strong anyways. We split the chipotle chicken tacos & garlic shrimp tacos, both were INCREDIBLE. I had to sample their Elote & wanted to bring it home - it stood no chance. I ate the entire thing SO quickly. Really good food and drinks. I got a blackberry mojito and it was so nice and fresh, I will definitely be getting it again! The salsa was seasoned well, as well as the street tacos and mexican rice. If you're a local, this is very comparable to Malo in downtown Des Moines. Upscale mexican food and great drinks. This is a great addition to the neighborhood, especially with a multitude of American food joints nearby. MIXED on how to Rate. Went on a Sunday @ 4 pm.... Not too busy. Service was Excellent AND- Awful (Meaning: it was Prompt to take order -However- the food was served almost immediately- BUT, I'd ordered a cocktail and was almost done eating before it was served (AND, had to inquire about the margarita I'd ordered). No one asked if I needed anything else, or if everything was okay. Decor is Very welcoming (music was a bit TOO loud). Growing up in Southern California i was raised on some of the best street tacos anywhere in the world as well as hose water. So my expectations are always high. i visited Blue Agave on a Sunday morning/early afternoon and was sat immediately. i ordered the Asada Street tacos with cilantro white rice. They brought chips and salsa right away along with a glass of water, i am pretty sure came straight from the hose; just like being a kid again. The Asada meat in the tacos are served with chorizo and potatoes. This was different than i have had before in a street taco but it was really good. The cilantro white rice is average but what does one really expect with a simple white rice? i am definitely satisfied with my choice and will be eating here again, preferably not alone next time. The restaurant is clean and the decor is inviting as well as the friendly staff, they also have patio seating. 5 tacos is my rating. read more

I had a great experience here for my birthday yesterday! They offered to sing to me and offered me a shot when they found out it was my birthday. I had the lettuce wrapped garlic shrimp tacos and a frozen strawberry margarita and they were incredible. I went with a friend who is celiac and she had several options to choose from and did not have any issues with cross contamination. Our server was great and the staff were friendly. Ambiance = 10/10 Food= 7/10- average taste, good presentation, expensive Service= 5/10 We were immediately seated, then a young lady brought us 2 waters for 4 people. We asked for 2 more but did not receive them. Then we waited about 10 minutes and no one had stopped by to take our food or drink order so we went to the host stand and asked. After that, someone came over and took our order. We asked for cheese dip and quesadilla sampler for an appetizer and tacos and a "giant burrito " for meals. The appetizer came out at the same time as our food, but they did not bring plates or silverware. Their tacos are served on a platter, so not something you could add a side/sampler to. My husband's giant burrito was absolutely giant, but he said flavor was just okay. My tacos came with cilantro rice that I could not taste the cilantro. The quesadilla sampler was a good size and could easily feed 1-2 people as a meal or 3-4 to share. We didn't drink and the Ambiance was solid, so I probably won't pay the high price for food again, but may come and sit on the patio for a marg. read more

Last item service, while they move fast and seem to be running everywhere it seems not many speak any English at all and when you ask hold the onions no picco here comes the food with onions and pico. I visited this restaurant with friends on a Wednesday evening. It was very busy for a week night. Our server was very attentive. I had the Key Lime Margarita and it was out of this world delicious! For dinner I had a chicken taco salad and it was the best taco salad I've ever had. All of my friends raved about their margaritas and dinner items. We sat out on the patio and it was perfect. I have had my eye on this new spot since RTaco closed. Boy, what a difference! You wouldn't even recognize this place. It is a legitimate sit down restaurant now with a bar, etc. It is also is rather swanky and the decor is very fun. Like many restaurants of this type, they offer complimentary chips and salsa. I really liked their chips, the salsa was good but very cilantro-y (unfortunately I am soap cilantro person). I thought their menu had a nice variety of dishes, but they do highlight the drinks and tacos. I was there for the tacos! Orders comes with three tacos, I was pretty bummed when the waitress said they don't allow mix and match. I settled on the corner tacos, I liked them but three was too many of this flavor. I would of been much more impressed if I could of tried three different options. My mom ordered the Mexican mule drink, which I tried and would recommend - A combination of my two favorite drinks, a moscow mule and a margarita!
