For all the reviews and friend's recommendations, I was expecting a lot of Blue. But to be honest, even the view didn't make me shout "wow" - and the weather was nice. Probably because I first visited Skylounge, that for some reason felt more impressive to me. But, don't get me wrong: it's still a place to have a nice coffee break in the afternoon, or even a "brunch with a view". The food is nice and the coffee is as expected - nothing impressive here. But things there are somehow affordable, what is good, considering the hype around it. As mentioned before, it's kinda confusing to find - you have to go inside a shopping center around the Flower Market and take the elevator (this part is easy, since there are signs guiding you). The elevator itself is panoramic, fast and with a funny shape. If I'm not wrong you can also access this shopping center through the basement floor of HEMA of Kalverstraat (I had to go there to withdraw some money since Blue's pin machines weren't working that day - but it seems to be en edge case). read more

The 360-view of Amsterdam's city center is amazing! You're basically surrounded by the most famous architectural treasures this city has to offer: the unique 'step-gable' houses. (try to spot the Concertgebouw/Royal Concert Hall) Despite being in one of the most vibrant areas of Amsterdam, BLUE has a peaceful vibe. It's one of my favorite places to end a long shopping spree with friends. read more

This was one of the most ridiculous gem we stumbled upon while exploring Amsterdam. Did not read about this, nobody recommended going here, didn't find it nearby or find it on yelp. It was ridiculous luck that we went to H&M and looked around the shopping center to keep climbing some circular flights of stairs. Did not seem at all touristy asides maybe being located at a popular shopping area. The vibe and decor here was off the hook. Great place to just digest an amazing view and comfort of Amsterdam. Night view was just okay, day view is a whole new ball game. The place was really calm, clean, beautiful, and modern. It was the definition of cool. Time just slowed down while I was up at Blue. The WiFi was faster than McDonalds, Starbucks, and the hostel I was staying at so I was just having a blast using my phone inside. Staffs were so friendly and ease. Life just seems so great while you're sipping Amsterdam coffee and enjoying the amazing weather and beautiful view while you're there. Apple pie here is amaze balls, but maybe I'm speaking for all Amsterdam pies and sweets. read more

Horribly long wait time after ordering, expensive not-so-great food and completely inattentive staff made this the worst dining experience I've ever had in Amsterdam. I ordered their "3 course menu" which was an appetizer, main and a dessert for €30. I quickly finished my soup appetizer which did come quickly but wasn't very delicious. Then had to wait over 50 minutes for my main (a simple burger with fries) which came ONLY after I had to flag down a staff member to remind them that they didn't bring the rest of my order. I ask for ketchup (which never came), then quickly finish the burger (also not very tasty) although I wasn't hungry anymore after such a long wait. I then had to wait another 30 minutes just to flag another person down to bring my check to pay. I ask what happened to my waitress and was told she "went upstairs" and forgot about the tables she was waiting. I paid and before walking out, realized they completely forgot my dessert and yet again I had to wait 10 minutes before flagging someone down to ask for it. No apology, and after a few minutes they gave it to me in a to-go box. Will never go back and would not recommend. read more

What a fabulous find! Another great tip from the Amsterdam Yelp community was to check out the amazing view from Blue, so we made sure we went during our trip! Fortunately, it was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel! Scott and I had a wander around the shopping centre, then took the lift up to the very top floor to Blue (the lift really didn't help my vertigo, just don't look down!!) It was a lovely clear day so we managed to get a fantastic view of the city that just can't be beat! The service was also excellent (another thing I noticed about Amsterdam in general, fantastic service everywhere) our waitress was polite and attentive. I opted for a chicken and bacon sandwich, delicious and warm, it certainly hit the spot, and was at a decent price too! I'm really glad we managed to visit Blue. Well worth a visit for the sights over Amsterdam alone! read more

Fantastic views of Amsterdam and great food. I was expecting it to be very pricey based on the decor and the menu options but this wasn't the case. I got a mint lemonade and a slice of apple pie for about 8 euros, and the burgers are about 12 euros and look very filling. Not in the most obvious location but worth a visit! read more

The view is great and the food is decent. The elevator is inside a mall, so you're not likely to just stumble on it, but if you're looking for it then it's not hard to find. The bitterballen were hot out of the fryer and tasty, and the ginger ale was made with fresh ginger, but not so much as to make it harsh. Solid food, but nothing amazing, and a good view. read more

Fantastic find in Amsterdam Centrum for a coffee, a drink or a small bite. It is located atop a shopping center and really under advertised thus making it a perfect place for respite after hours of wonderful walk along the grachts on a beautiful sunny day. One thing I really enjoyed about Blue is the view of the city as it is higher than most buildings around. Also, the big glass walls that covered the restaurant allows natural lighting to penetrate and uplift the mood of the client. A perfect site indeed. The food menu at Blue is quite limited to mostly small bites or snacks and the same is true with drink (some wine, dutch beer and the usual coffee and tea). The food was average but the service is very attentive. read more

Loved this place! Came here on a whim because it was rainy and we were looking for an interesting vibe and place! This place covered it all! Good food, friendly service, great view. Found out about this place from various sources and all said about the same as what I found to be true. So sought it out for a nice Sunday breakfast. Not too hard to find if know what to look for. It is on the other side of the canal from the Flower Market at Rembrandtplein. Some have said to look for the Kalvertoren shopping centre as Blue is on top of it. Others have said look for the H & M which is in the shopping centre. It is easier to look for the North Face store. Then go to the top floor of shopping centre. Food was tasty and well presented. Service was friendly and quick. But the view is what you come here for - a 360 degree view of Amsterdam. This is a great venue with a SPECTACULAR view of Amsterdam, especially during the night. It is just behind the flower market but for some it might be a little difficult to find (well only for those that are not really locals), because you first need to get inside the shopping center and then take the elevator that goes straight to it. I have been here for an Yelp event (so not really for dinner) and the atmosphere was really great, staff was very friendly and the view (I know I already mentioned it, but worth saying again) is simply amazing.
