I stopped here by The Crossroads on my way into Clarksdlae, MS. I only had the fried green tomatoes. They were OK, a heavy coating on them, but what do I know? Im not from the Delta. The place was exceptionally clean, sweet waitress. There appeared to be a buffet table that was empty. I got there late in theie day. Supposedly, the buffet is every day. This place was delicious. We had the buffet and everything we tried was fantastic but the fried chicken topped it off. It was by far the best fried chicken we have eaten in a long time. Stopped for dinner around 8 pm. Sat at a booth next to kitchen area, similar to a Waffle House booth as it has a little pass through cutout. Old diner feel. Waitress was friendly and got our drink order right away. I had hamburger steak with grilled onions and brown gravy and cornbread. It was delicious! Onions were caramelized hamburger had crispy edges,Cornbread was dry but other than that I will probably order that again next time. Wife had chicken tenders which were also very good, son had the catfish sandwich, which was good as well, but he wants to order just the catfish filet next time. Great tea as well. This place is a hidden treasure! I don't know why I haven't heard about this place but I'm so glad I know about it now. A friend suggested this place as she had been here many times in the past. Stopped in on our way back from Clarksdale MS. The outside looks to me like a cross between what use to be an old gas station and the nostalgic side of the road diner. I love this kind of stuff so I was sold on the decor alone. Inside the colors are blue and white with silver. There is plenty of seating from the tables , booths or the old looking spin around bar stools at the counter. A case full of donuts sit on one side of the counter. They have menus but we knew we wanted the all-you-can-eat buffet bar. Now this is not your full on speed ahead all-you-can-eat but it is a smaller hot bar and a salad bar. I've had the larger bars and sometimes 1/2 of the food is not that great. But I'll take this smaller bar any day with hot fresh homegrown vegetables and the best tasting meats you can put in your mouth. Everything and I mean everything on the hot bar was delicious. The hot bar was clean. The food hot and fresh not sitting there stuck to the heating trays drying out. In talking to the waitress who by the way was the nicest server told us that the turnip greens were hand picked and that everything including the desserts were homemade. Now this is right up my alley. Eating here just reminded me of sitting at my grandmas kitchen table eating her cooking. True comfort food. Mac & Cheese, turnip greens, Lima beans, mash potatoes with gravy, meat loaf, green beans, pork chops and so much more. The atmosphere was amazing. I engaged in a conversation with the lady in the booth next to me as she was eating breakfast. The stack of pancakes she had made my mouth water. They were fluffy and looked liked they were cooked on a griddle. She said they were the best pancakes around. I can't wait to go back for breakfast! I made 2 trips to the bar. I'm a light weight that was all I could hold but I found room for the dessert -homemade pineapple cake which came with the meal! I will definitely go back. True diner vibe that has a basic menu and average food. Friendly southern staff, cheap food, and a clean dining room. The portions were on the smaller side, but it's more than enough for the price. Don't judge the place from the outside, the inside is clean and the food is served hot. They had a buffet for lunch and people seemed to love it. We were flying all morning and opted for their breakfast menu. They mixed up one of our picks on our plate so they just took it to the back and swapped it, which we found comical. The food was average as you'd expect for a small diner. Not great, not terrible. My mom took myself and my 2 girls, her granddaughters, here for a late lunch after she had dropped off some blankets and other goodies at the Tunica Humane Shelter down the road. She had already stopped in earlier to grab a couple of pies to take to the volunteers at the animal shelter but now we had gotten pretty hungry and I knew we couldn't wait until we got back to Memphis to eat. Plus this place looked pretty cool and vintage and I figured the food would be a 10/10 just based on looks alone. Did not disappoint. I had the namesake Blue and White Burger with onion rings. My mom tried the Rueben with fries. Kids got the buffet and we got fried green tomatoes to share. Seems a basket of those sweet smelling huge yeast rolls comes along with your order. I was unable to eat my entire meal but ended up with a couple of boxes of leftovers. Sweet tea was perfection. We decided to drive over to Tunica yesterday. We like to seek out the places popular with locals. Blue & White has been around since 1937, so that certainly fit the bill. Inside, it is still the cute 1930's diner it started out as. Honestly, it's adorable. We were greeted by the very friendly staff. Service was a tad slow, but we obviously got there at the end of lunch rush when all the other servers were getting cut. Food wise, the menu is fairly diverse, and there is also an extensive hot bar & salad bar. We ordered wings, my husband got a catfish dinner & I chose the catfish hoagie. The wings were enormous, but they were treated exactly like fried chicken, battered and fried, but then drenched in wing sauce, which destroyed the crunch. When my hoagie arrived, it was cut in half and looked like two small sliders with a side of soggy, unsalted crinkle fries. It was $13.99, which I was a tad high. Having said that, it was delicious and served on a roll that had to have been homemade. Unfortunately, I found out afterwards that the catfish is pond raised. Honestly, why, when you're in the heart of the delta??? This is a fun little place, steeped in history . I might stop in again if I found myself in the area, even if it's just for their killer sweet tea. read more

I would definitely eat here again. There were a few flies in the restaurant but this time of year, and in Mississippi it's not uncommon. This place is so delish we returned 10 years later going out of our way to stop for brunch. My first trip around I had the omelet which I can only describe as the best I have had in America. Fluffy eggs with ham and cheese. This time around I had the big blue breakfast to try something different. Scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuit and pancake. I didn't eat for the rest of the day. My fellow travelers thoroughly enjoyed their steak and eggs (poached & fried) as well. If I ever make my way down south again I will definitely be paying another visit. The staff are lovely. Pretty sure this is a Gulf gas station turned into Toodle House turned into Blue and White!! Love it! Super tender pulled pork sandwich. Yummy! Our fries were over cooked, which we were sad about. Fried chicken sandwich had great flavor on a great bun, but was beaten way too thin, which made it dry. I'll go back and have it again, and ask for it not to be beaten all to heck. Coleslaw is, I think, made with pickle juice. Really really tasty! Service was great. Waitress was no fricks given. I loved it! Food was fresh and tasted good! Will definitely return! read more

Stopped by here while we were in Tunica today and was glad we tried it! It's a small place but the food was pretty good! I ordered the fried chicken with fried green tomatoes and Okra! The chicken came out steaming Hot but the Fried Green Tomatoes were the Best I have ever had! My wife ordered the pork barbecue with beans and potato salad! I recently gave this restaurant four stars but after today, I am giving them two stars. I'm a semi-regular here (order out at least once a week) and I've never had a problem with my order. I order the fried chicken salad with a small side of extra lettuce since I prefer more lettuce over toppings. Usually I'll be charged the typical $1-$2 up charge and that's it. Today (June 10th) that did not happen and I met a worker I've never seen before who honestly soured the entire restaurant for me and guaranteed that I'll never give them more of my money. I picked up my order and was greeted by an older white lady (did not catch her name). She rung me up and before I paid, I asked for a small side of lettuce as usual since I forgot to ask when I called in. Today she informed me that for a small side of lettuce I would have to purchase an entire salad (but not receive an entire salad, just a small cup of lettuce). This was simply, a shock. But what was more shocking was her attitude. She was dismissive, rude and it was obvious that she did not want to serve or handle my order. There were plenty BOH employees present for the exchange who all looked confused at her statement. After this, I asked another worker if there were somewhere else to purchase the lettuce they use (while talking directly to another worker)- the same worker who rung me up and then walked away turned around to tell me "you can order it from Sysco". Sysco, a common vendor for many establishments, does not have a physical store or do small orders. Besides this, I had a second order to purchase and she still walked away and went to help the other (white) customers in the restaurant while ignoring me. Luckily there was another employee to help me. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you're driving through time and have no where else to eat or you're curious about it based off their history. Not very long ago, this was a pretty segregated place to eat in town and many African-American citizens stil do not eat here. I see why now. Despite the food being amazing, the BOH staff being amazing and other employees being great- this one employee has made it obvious that if she does not value you as a person or customer that she will not put much time or energy into serving you and will up-charge you $10 for a bowl of lettuce. Love this place. Brea is great and served all day. Off menu items are served hot and fresh. The girls are friendly and helpful to all. They also have a lunch time buffet which lately has been hit or miss. One of their cooks can be heavy handed with the black pepper to the point you can taste anything else. Today the pepper level was good. Fridays catfish nuggets were good but today they also hush puppies for a change. We were looking forward to them. They looked great but they disappointed. The place itself takes you back in time, with its old diner simple but charming style. The food is very good, I tried the Creole Alfredo pasta, while other friends in our party tried catfish or breakfast offerings; it was all delicious. I had a three egg omelette, my wife had a wedge salad. The omelette was good, the fillings were generous. They used processed cheese slices in the omelette. I suspect the hash browns were from frozen. The biscuits were fluffy but they served them with margarine instead of real butter. The Mrs. enjoyed her wedge salad (which I think is the "self check out lane" of salads). The servers were prompt and friendly, with quick refills. The ambiance was that of an old diner. I've been dining at Blue and White for about seventeen years. I love the food and especially the Sunday lunch buffet. As a POC going to a small-town local restaurant in Mississippi can sometimes cause anxiety. I never felt that at Blue and White until this Sunday. Unfortunately, it was from one of the non-POC staff. After driving from an hour away and waiting twenty minutes in line to get a table, to be passed up for a table when I was next to be seated. Others behind me complained also, but it took the manager to correct the issue. I was the only POC customer in the restaurant, but that shouldn't matter. The other customers didn't care. I stayed and enjoyed my food, tipped the server well, who treated me with respect and provided great service. read more

Hands down one of the best restaurants around Tunica, not fancy but down home country cooking that you can tell is homemade. We went when there was a lunch buffet, but we ordered breakfast. First, don't be turned away by this being in an old gas station, it is a true hidden gem in this area. Second, if there is lunch buffet, get the fried chicken. I wish I would have and from the people around us, they raved and had multiple pieces. The crust looked just like my mamaw would have fried it up. The salad bar looked amazing as well, just something to even put the fried and buffet type of foods. So overall the buffet looked 5/5. However, get the breakfast, the Hobo Breakfast at that. It will be the best dang thing you have ever eaten. Think of a skillet of eggs hashbrowns onions cheese meat, you name it all cooked and served massively on a plate. It's like the cure for any and all hangovers and completely fills your belly all the way up. The Hobo Breakfast was definitely a 8/5 easily. Customer service was exceptional! Our waitress was extremely nice, down to earth, and Very attentive. Our drinks were never empty, and she explained anything on the menu to us.
