My husband and I were craving some BBQ so we decided to head over to Memphis BBQ and try them out. It was absolutely delicious! We split the cheese fritters as an appetizer. They were so delicious with the sauce at the bottom. My husband greatly enjoyed his burnt end cheddar melt, and my Pitt master sampler was delicious and left me enough food for a whole other meal! The fries, Cole slaw, and baked beans were also delicious. For dessert, my husband enjoyed the apple cobbler, and I had the banana pudding - y'all, this banana pudding is some of the BEST I have had! It was so yum that I almost hurt myself on it because of how full I was (lol). The service was also very hospitable, pleasant, and quick! I highly reccomend Memphis BBQ! Updating my review from 4 years ago. We've been maybe a handful of times since. Our visit last night though was decent. They don't take reservations, and I even called to inform them we had a party of 9 and they said it didn't matter. Okay... we get there and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. If we had been able to make a reservation, that wouldn't have happened. The employees were all nice though. Our main waiter and the waitress helping him were attentive and got what we needed. One thing that really disappointed me was that they were out of brisket (told us after we placed our orders) and half our orders had brisket. We had family from the west coast here and the whole point of going to Memphis BBQ was for them to enjoy southern BBQ and I feel they didn't get the whole experience. Another thing, our waiter specifically said he put the 3 kids meals on one order so they would come out first... guess which ones came out last out of all 9 of us? Yeah, the kids. And the food was piping hot for them so they barely ate anything by the time we were all done with our meals. Which our meals were actually good. Except the water. Has an awful chlorine taste to it. Lastly, weren't we supposed to get complimentary pork rinds? I completely forgot about that until after we left or I would have asked for them. Bbq dry baby backs were amazing, smoked turkey and pulled pork to die for! We also tried fried catfish, also very good. No boring grits here, a bit spicy, enough to make it memorable. Just over the state line from Memphis, I stopped at Memphis Barbecue Co for dinner. I'm a sucker for grilled cheese and brisket, so I went with the Burnt Ends Cheddar Melt. We were on our way through MS, when we stopped for some BBQ. Let me start by saying there is no shortage of food when you eat here! For the table, we started with Cheese Fritters, Queso and chips and Rib Basket (pictures), all very good. My son and I shared the Pitmaster sampler (a half slab of baby back ribs plus sliced brisket, and pulled pork. Plus cornbread and two sides (we chose the veggies and mac & Cheese). I highly recommend the pulled pork - the rest was good, but the pork had really good seasoning. We got the ribs Muddy (seasoned and with sauce). One of my sons got a bacon cheeseburger and my husband had read a review about Guy Fiery being there and had a burger off the menu - but basically it was a bacon cheeseburger with fried pork rinds, Oh and they serve pork rinds to the table! A decent on the road stop while headed south on I 55 to Nola. Good for a quick bite. Not at all bad just not as memorable as I thought even some casual MS joints might be. The main hit with this spot was the service. The server Cordaryl was excellent. A super nice guy with that southern hospitality I hoped to find. He knew his menu and knew his town. I visited this spot because I couldn't figure out anywhere else to go to satisfy my picky colleague or my client. This is yet another DDD restaurant, but I didn't watch this particular episode and the menu did not give any indication on what Guy ordered during his visit. They serve pork rinds as a free app....which you can dip in their 2 sauces on the table, a sweet one and a bold one that's not that spicy. I ordered the half rack ribs, muddy, with turnip greens and red beans and rice with the latter recommended by our server. Ribs - pretty good sauce, tender, fall off the bone, some pieces were a tad dry, but this can be common with ribs, especially the smaller ends. Turnip greens - pretty standard Red beans and rice - pretty dang good for being in Mississippi. Ask for the hot sauce. Both my client and I really like this. Overall, this was a satisfying meal that we all enjoyed. We were in Memphis and wanted to have barbecue for dinner. Memphis Barbecue came out as one of the best barbecue restaurants but it's located in MS. It's about 11 miles so we went. Glad we did because everything we ordered were very good. The server brought us complimentary chicharon which was freshly cooked because it was still warm. I ordered brisket with green beans and red beans and rice. Husband ordered chicken barbecue with coleslaw and turnip greens. For dessert, we had cherry cobler with vanilla ice cream. The brisket and chicken were tender and very tasty. All the sides were good, but my favorite is the red beans and rice. I wasn't surprised to see how busy this place is on a late Sunday night! This one was hard. I settled on 3 stars as some stuff was 1 and other stuff was 5. If you stop here - don't get the brisket! We were greeted right away and seated quickly. Our server, Shea, came right away for drink orders and strongly recommended the ribs combo. We were not super hungry so we just did the brisket plate and added 3 bones for $9. Shea was sweet and attentive. Brisket is my go to so I dig in right away and then had to chew and chew and chew on the piece I cut off. I thought maybe it was a bad piece so I tried another slice and it was the same. I switched to the ribs and they were amazing! We got them wet and they were sauced just right. Meat came off the bone with just a slight tug. The sides are all good but the corn was exceptional. When I told the server we were not happy with the brisket she asked if she could get the manager. I said that was fine. The manager didn't say her name but she seemed to genuinely want to help and asked if she could get different slices because it's not supposed to be tough. I said that was fine or she could just swap out some ribs. She came back with more slices and it was more of the same. Delayed flight into Memphis had me hungry for dinner and this was close to hotel and airport. I had the BBQ combo with burnt ends and brisket with crispy fries and slaw. Great sauces for extra kick. The burnt ends are tender without being overly fatty, the brisket, sliced thin was also very moist and tasty. Is it the greatest bbq in all the land? I was visiting Memphis for work and a friend recommended Memphis barbecue. I've had many different types of barbecue, but I wanted to see what Tennessee had to offer. On my order I got burn ends, but I also got a side of ribs. For my sides, I got fried okra and the potato salad. Their meals come with corn bread as well. So the flavors, the burnt ends are not tender, so don't get your hopes up. Memphis BBQ is known for pork, so I ordered some ribs. They were tender and flavorful. The potato salad was good and the fried okra was decent. I think if the order would've came when it was supposed to the food would've been warmer, but I blamed the delivery guy for that. It's a pretty big spot and it's country style on the inside with all the fixings. Our waiter was patient and attentive. Complimentary fried skins are served as well. We ordered the Pitmaster Sampler, which was around 35 dollars. It came with a slab of ribs and 2 other meat options with 2 sides. We ordered the burnt ends and sliced brisket with a side of okra and mac and cheese. The ribs were tender and falling off the bone. We ordered them dry so we could dip them in BBQ sauce. There's 3 BBQ options at the table and I loved the "Classic" one. It's sweet and no spice. The ribs were my favorite! The burnt ends were nice and seasoned and came with a BBQ sauce that paired well with them. The brisket was tender and seasoned to perfection. Finger-licking good for sure! How can you serve mediocre barbecue in MEMPHIS of all places! The place looked like it could use a refresh and a deep clean. The kitchen windows were blocked by numerous cardboard boxes and the ceiling was leaking most likely air conditioner condensation. Our server was so personable and she made our experience. The food was sub par. They served a basket of my favorite, pork rinds. Unfortunately they were flavorless. We sampled the meatloaf, ribs and a couple of sides. The meatloaf was overcooked and DRY. The watery sauces could not hide how dry. It was like meatloaf jerky. I have had better in Toledo, Ohio. The ribs were chewy, rough and full of gristle. The barbecue sauces, while some were flavorful like the sassy, were too watery to stick to the rib. The bbq spaghetti was carb overload. The okra was cooked right crispy and delicious. Since they had been featured on Triple D's I was even more disappointed. They did serve diet Dr Pepper, hey I'm grasping for compliments here. I could not recommend them less.
