I am a little behind on this review, but I wanted to give the business a chance to respond to me. They advertise a great deal on a catered Christmas dinner. Roast turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed pototatoes, corn, cabbage rolls, buns and two appe pies. Enough food for eight to ten hungry people for $150.00 We ordered this for Christmas 2010 and it was great Mom wasn't stuck cooking all day in the kitchen (she got to enjoy time with the grand kids), so we decided to do it again in 2011. Unfortunately, that was a bad decision. The turkey was ok but had a weird spice that it was cooked with, the stuffing tasted horrid, the mashed potatoes were burned brown in the serving tray, the cabbage rolls were charred black on the bottom, luckily you can't screw up corn and they bought the pies elsewhere. Being Christmas day there wasn't much we could do... Our Christmas dinner was horrid but we made the best of it. Their website has a contact form so I filled it out that night wanting only an apology at the least. No response in three or four days. My father took the tray of burnt cabbage rolls back to them but there was no management in the store when he was there so he left his name and number, no response. Before this year I had given recommendations to use them every time some was looking for a caterer, now I recommend you avoid them like the plague! read more

Just want to say "Thank You" to D'Arcy's Catering for the full turkey dinner and all the fixin's for our family reunion get together this XMas. Ordering the dinner through D'Arcy's made our lives so much easier and allowed us to spend quality time with the little ones instead of slaving over cooking and cleaning pots and pans. We like certain things certain ways so we do like to jazz up the mashed potatoes and change out the perogies and cabbage rolls for my mother's instead, putting D'Arcy's perogies and cabbage rolls away for another meal or time. And we add a special dessert or two because I agree that the 3 small store bought pies don't cut it. If I could suggest improvements to the service I would like to see them allow for substitutions for certain items like the perogies, cabbage rolls and pies but they won't do that at this time. Instead of the 3 pies, I would prefer one large exquisite pumpkin pie or apple pie or other great choice of desserts. They can get them from Costco just as easily. They could use generic or their own logo'd packaging and use Costco's products. Would be a much better presentation. Overall, with a few of our own additions, and substitutions, it was still great and appreciated by everyone. Overall I think it's a good deal. A great service! We ordered a meal for our Christmas party (30-36). We also ordered extra side dishes. We had no major complaints of the food and the portions were fine except for the turkey. I was told there should have been 30 lbs of turkey and it was gone after the first 15 people. We contacted them and they said we got the right amount of turkey but we could come back to get extra at a cost of $80 more. After spending over $800 they were quite dismissive. We went to Safeway and bought 3 more Cooked turkey breasts to cover the party. We will not use their services again. read more

I have been debating writing this or not. But after enough negative feedback, it needs to be done. My husband and I hired Darcy's for our wedding on June 20th, 2015. I have been to many events that Darcy had catered, and there was no question that we wanted them for our reception as we were having a "Down Home Country Wedding". Up until the wedding, Darcy and his manager Trixie were fantastic to work with. They were there for any questions or concerns I had, and for that I give them 5 stars! However, when it came to the wedding dinner, it was a whole different story. The salads were good, and so were the potatoes. The beef (eventhough I don't eat red meat), I was told was very tender and tasty. The rest of the meal, was HORRIBLE. The corn and baby carrots looked like they had been sitting for a while and looked like they were left overs. The chicken was DISGUSTING! It smelled like it was rotten, and tasted even worse. I took one bite and had to spit it out into my napkin. When we advised the servers (who were dressed in jeans and shorts with fleece vests - AT A WEDDING) about it, one of them actually told us at the head table to either put gravy on it or dip it in wine to hide the taste. We actually pulled the chicken from the buffet table. We were told that it was a new spice and bbq sauce they were using, but clearly, that wasn't it. Once we pulled the chicken, I informed the servers to start serving the remaining fish (that was ordered for minimal people who didn't eat read meat), however, they refused and wrapped what was left and brought it back to their kitchen. They also refused to serve more meat to guests who wanted seconds or thirds. Now I get why they always guarantee that if they run out of food that the meal is free. They don't serve the entire meal and skimp so they always have food leftover. I would understand if they were worried about running out of food, but that wasn't the case as they left with almost have a foil container left of beef! To keep our hungry guests happy, we had to order pizzas, which we were never offered to be paid for by the caterers. On the Monday after the wedding, we had called Darcy to tell him the issues. He agreed to refund us the money for the chicken, but pretty much brushed off all other issues and had a response (an excuse) for everything. My biggest concern was that he had told me he had three or four (I Can't remember) other events he catered that day. He also made a comment about us having our reception at the "cheapest hall" and that he was doing us a favour with what he charged us. We took it as "cheap hall, cheap meal - they won't care. " Not knowing the meaning and history that hall has with my family. I was very disappointed in the fact that there was no other offer to pay for at least the pizza we had to purchase as extra for the missed meal or any other compensation for all the problems. After talking to many caterers (casual and formal), they could not believe, a. that this was actually from Darcy's as they are so well known and good and b. there was no other compensation. Thank goodness that the rest of the wedding was Fantastic so everyone can forget about the horrible meal and service we received. Up until our wedding, Darcy's was always the one I would recommend for any event, but now, I don't know if that will be the case. read more

I have had such great experiences year after year with ordering Christmas, Easter and New Year dinner. Portions are always perfect and the Stuffed mashed potatoes are to die for! We had an odd request and D'Arcy's Catering came through for us! We wanted to do a Taco Bar for approximately 60 people. I was looking for someone to cook the meat only, chicken and beef. I contacted D'Arcy's Catering and they were fantastic. Obviously, taco meat is not a usual item on their menu. D'Arcy was in contact with D'Arcy Meats and they organized everything. Later on, I dealt with Carmen, but she was just as helpful. The meat was cooked perfectly! Thank you for everything! read more
