Often times they say that they have already completed your request for maintenance and they have not. The front office does not answer your calls. You have questions in regards to your bill and no one returns your phone call. The lack of communication and professionalism at this place is horrible. At this point. I will continue my lease until it is up, but renewing will not be an option. They have now added on additional fees that were never added on before. We pay for water and sewage and trash and other additions like insurance and property fees that were not originally a part of the leasing agreement. Last, but not least, we lose water often, trash shoots are shut down, and security is a joke. You can get into the doors without any key or fob.

*Long Post Alert* I moved into Dekalb apartments in January of this year. I thought the price was…read morereasonable for the apartment. A pound me moving in the apartment it still needed additional work and I really wasn't all that happy. The service manager at the time was absolutely amazing (Marquis) he came for one thing and I was telling him about the other problems and in one day he fixed everything and even returned the next day to follow up. Little did I know that some minor maintenance would be the least of my worries. I had been living in the apartment short of two or three months, when the real problem came. After a long day of work I'm watching a movie and my boyfriend see's a mouse run across the room. I'm immediately upset and frightened at this point. I Have Never Been More Scared In My Life!!!! So, first thing the next morning I call the front office and they just acted like they were in disbelief and they would take care of the problem. Well......I can whole heartedly say it's been months and I'm still having the same problem. I have spoken with the office manager Megan and Regional Manager Karen at Scully company. They have since admitted to the older buildings as being infested with mice due to the construction around the apartments. Plus further inspection of the apartment, they have hidden holes where the pipes run for the heating, under the bathroom sink, behind the stove, etc. So it's like the mice can just go from apartment to apartment (because you can hear them all in the walls and kitchen area). I have spoken with several other tenants in the buildings and they have seen mice in their apartments. When I ask for a resolution they offered me to move on a sister property (which seemed like the simplest resolution but also was a hassle, seeing as they said everything would transfer over but when I called their property manager she said you have to go through the whole process of applying over again). So not only do I have to look for another place, I have to go through the process again, and as a healthcare worker find time to afford to move all my items somehow into another place. I'm very disgusted with management and Scully at how they are handling the situation. Mind you I haven't heard from the office in two months now, No follow up, No checking in, No Nothing!!! I want to say that the maintenance men have been absolutely AMAZING!! They have tried to make me feel as comfortable as someone in this situation can feel and they come out right away everytime I call. Christina in Dekalb office has tried to be as helpful as possible. But it's just not enough NO ONE should have to live like this. So this is just a FAIR WARNING to future residents you have been advise to LOOK else where!!!!!

Now I report things that I'm tired of…read morefixing myself such as caulking under the toilet to stop the roaches from getting in (as they crawl from under the toilet) and they don't bother to come or indicate that they are coming. Also, this area has a very bad problem with ants. Really bad. If you sit on the benches in the yard area, you will have ants crawling on you at some point... not just maybe one or two.. but quite a few. I used to sit out there with my cat who was an outdoor cat.... after a while, I had to stop doing it because there would always be an ant crawling on you. They get in if you open the window through any crack... and you have to open the window in the winter and early Spring because the apartments get so hot otherwise as there's no circulation. I've lived here 7 years and I have never even turned the heater on in the winter. You have to open the door into the hallway and/or open the windows outside to get it to a normal temperature. Is the price affordable? Sure. But I can't get them to stop my neighbor from stomping around and they're using COVID now as an excuse to not address it or fix routine maintenance problems such as the ceiling fan with is so clogged with some (I have no idea how to describe it but it's unclean and is almost like lint from a dryer). I can't turn it off... it's on when the lights are..... but they said, "we'll be monitoring your requests to decide when we come...." and apparently roaches entering the apartment from under the toilet is low priority for them . They also have plumbing problems here too. When neighbors run their garbage disposal, it clogs up somewhere down the line and it ends up backing up in my apartment... This has been happening for years. They've come a few times to fix it too... and they have fixed it... only to have it clog again later. I have to scrub out the tub every few days because the dirt that's left behind is almost like some kind of sediment. I put down clear pads on the tub to avoid falling because they painted the tub from a drab green to white by PAINTING it and because I nearly fell once... these clear bath pads are now brown... that's how much sediment and grime comes from the water here. Seriously... this area made the news due to the army base just up the street on NBC News dumping chemicals in the water... It made the news twice in recent memory. Aside from that, the neighborhood is relatively safe.. but just be mindful if you end up in C building on the lower floor... there's a reason I moved out..... if the only thing stopping roaches from crawling out from under the toilet is caulk (that breaks apart if the toilet is moved even slightly) and they won't fix it, you'll run into them too. There have been no crime(s) here that I am aware of since moving in. The management is quick to respond to reported issues and are always friendly. My neighbors have been quiet and people generally keep to themselves. No crazy drama going on outside either. The buildings are well maintained. They plow snow, cut the grass...etc etc...If you have a problem in the apartment, let them know and they will send someone out the next business day. (they have people available for emergencies of course..) It isn't the most fancy place you can find, but I think they are decent enough. They have pay laundry rooms in each building, a bit of room for storage in the basement areas. (Figure about another 20 dollars per month for this..) Heat / hot water is included in the price of rent, this is a good value. You pay for electric. (60-100 a month in my experience...) Traffic in and around the area isn't too bad, but you should learn some back roads during the Christmas time! Mall traffic is crazy on 202. Well worth checking out!

It's located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood, and it feels rather safe as well. Maintenance is usually quick and easy - all I need to do is to write an email about the issue and couple of days later I come home to find the issue resolved. It's got secured building entrance, but package delivery is right to my door. Staffs are really nice although I don't really find the need to talk to them much. There are more than enough parking spots for both the tenants and guests. The lovely little pool could be an addition, if I loved water (and I don't). Another perk is free heating, not sure if that's standard in the area but there's big savings during Pennsylvania winters. As for downsides, there really isn't anything major to complain about, considering the price. Shared laundry, spotty wireless signal (I'm AT&T), monopoly of Xfinity internet, plain design and decoration, and that's about it. The storage might be a bit tight but for a guy it has been quite enough. So overall, it's totally worth the price. And they allow cats!

There's a free cafe with a KCup machine, a cozy fireplace, and free treats (often homemade!). They've got a free gym that's open 24 hours (and I have NEVER had to wait to use a machine!). And the view across the Schuylkill is stunning. Plus there is ample parking...where else in MANAYUNK will you find this much parking?! The best part, hands-down, are the guys who work at the front office. They are so friendly, set up great resident events (with free wine, beer, and food!), respond to emails at lightning speed, and always go above and beyond to do whatever their residents need! Both Managers are the friendly and Kevin is the best. If they seem strict it is because they are Managers and need to ensure people are abiding by the rental agreement. People need to read the fine print and stop blaming them for doing their job. If you do not like the apartment complex, then move or get your own house.

However, when I rented in 2024-2025, the experience was completely different. I think it's the office management, led by Marissa, but probably also Kaiserman corporate office has changed. They have become non responsive to residents, and very defensive. There were also many problems with water lines and gas lines. I feel so sorry for families with young children having to go without for days at a time. And no refunds to anyone. It's sad, as there aren't many rentals in the area that accept dogs, and again, the location is fantastic. However, I am so glad to be out, and warn anyone considering the move, it all changes once you are a resident. The office is literally hostile. Except for Cat who seems competent and human. I hope Kaiserman will consider making her the manager. Maybe things would improve!

The…read moreapartments are beautiful with high ceilings, wood beams, and exposed brick, and spacious kitchens and bathrooms. We had lived in various buildings throughout Manayunk over the course of about 10 years, and this was the cleanest and safest property by far. There are key fobs to enter the building and security cameras everywhere. (Our previous apartment to this was robbed, so this was a big deal for us.) And we'll really miss the parking lot. It fills up at night, but the security guard (Big John) will make sure you always have a spot. Management was very responsive to emails and calls--and you can submit maintenance requests online, which are promptly replied to.The walls are thin, but, in our experience, neighbors were very courteous. You rarely heard a peep after 10 pm. When we needed to end our lease early (we had planned on paying until the end but an emergency was making that impossible), Jackie was very accommodating and helped us secure new tenants two months early. It's a big complex, but management is understanding and helpful all the way.
