Memorial Day 2023 - My wife's birthday celebration. She wanted an "Old Fashion" BBQ/picnic, but what would be the best way to have 30 - people, a Cornhole tourney, fun, and games without having to worry about cooking for days ahead of time. We decided on having the event catered, but who? Looking on the internet we found 5, 10,20 different companies that would do it. However, from friends, we learned Blue Collar Catering located in Forked River, NJ was our best bet. I did my due diligence and found no complaints at all. So, Blue Collar, it was. Blue collar Catering had many choices on its menu. They offered the COUNTRY BBQ, TRADITIONAL BBQ, LUAU or CLAM BAKE. Since this was going to be an "Old Fashion" BBQ/picnic, we chose the TRADITIONAL BBQ. The process was easy, we called Karen and set up the day. Then 5 days beforehand we confirmed the event and made a few changes, and that was that. Fast forward----Saturday Blue Collar arrived on time and the woman that was delivering the BBQ began setting up. She arrived with trays of prepared food; Jerk chicken, potato salad, cucumber salad, mac-n-cheese, sausage-n-peppers, and Kaiser rolls, she also brought a kooler filled with huge hot dogs, big hamburgers, and American cheese. The trays and stereo were set, the grill was hot and our guests began to arrive. Then at 2:30 the 8 oz. Fresh Angus Beef Burgers and the 1/4 Pound All Beef Hot Dogs were on the grill. These were grilled to perfection by my sons. As stated above, the 8oz. burger patties that were supplied were huge. Fresh, and tasty. The ¼ lb. Hot dogs were unbelievable in taste, size, and quality. The jerk chicken was cut perfectly into nice small pieces. It was spicy, favorable, and tender. If you did not know already, Jerk chicken is a Caribbean dish featuring chicken marinated in the famous jerk sauce of Jamaica. The sausage and peppers were delicious. Tender pieces of dense sausage, perfectly cooked with sauteed onions and peppers. That tray was demolished by our guests. We also chose Mac-n-cheese because of the kids. This Mac-n-cheese was cheesy, flavorful, and had a nicely baked crust on the top. This tray was devoured by both the kids and adults. We also chose cucumber salad and potato salad. The cucumber salad was fresh slice cucumbers with pickled onions, spices, and enough vinegar to give you an explosion of pure heaven in your mouth. This was absolutely delicious. In addition to all that, there was fresh bread & Butter Corn on the Cob and cold fresh Sliced Watermelon. Also Included in the Package: Lettuce/Tomato/Onion/Pickle Tray, plenty of Condiments & Kaiser rolls, and hot dog rolls. Fresh Brewed Iced Tea & Lemonade, which was also great, Paper Products, Set-up & Delivery, Racks & Sterno, and Serving Utensils. All in all, I would give Blue Collar Catering a 5 out of 5. The only thing I could note was the potato salad was a bit dry and had very little taste. However, would I recommend Blue Collar Catering? Absolutely. When you think of a Traditional BBQ, this is it folks. The quality, the quantity, and the service were spot on. They thought of everything that one would want from a TRADITIONAL BBQ. read more

I live in California, but was throwing a birthday party in New Jersey for my mom. I searched google for different catering companies and came across Blue Collar. Their prices were great, as were all their reviews. On a wing and a prayer, I hired them and hoped everything would go smoothly. They did not disappoint! The amount of food was insane! Everyone said it was amazing, and the crowd I had would not give compliments if they weren't deserved. The servers, Barbara and Meg, were fantastic. What do you do when your having your husbands 70th party at your house with 36 guests,,,CALL BLUE COLLAR CATERING...go to the menu decide...call Karen, go over the menu, she gives great recommendations on party planning times, if you need a server, that's so you can entertain your friends without worrying about setting up and cleaning up(at a fair additional charge) we had our server for 5 hours..what a game changer. I NEVER had any outside help I would do the cooking myself and serve and clean up..NOW I FOUND A NEW WAY...We had ceasar salad, cheese lasagna, beef with gravy, chicken Marsala, roasted potatoes and sautéed veggies, rolls and butter and all the plates, and utensils..I loved the fact that someone else would be responsible for setting up and making sure that all the tables were looked after for being cleaned up. The food as always is delish, as even going to the Elks to eat all the time, meeting friends for lunch or dinner...our friends had a BBQ from blue collar this summer and was awesome...another friend had a luau for their daughters engagement party..pretty AWESOME...thanks Karen and Blue Collar for all your talent and coordinating it..looking forward to some more great food...thanks so much Lori...our party was a great success!!! read more

We had a birthday party this weekend with the barb-e-que package and it was excellent. the grill person, Patty, was so good and eager to help, and made the best hamburgers we've had in years. I hired Blue Collar catering for my boyfriend's surprise 30th birthday party this weekend.Our server, Kelly, was absolutely fantastic. She was on time, professional, and so friendly. We had about 25 30-somethings who were drinking since the night before, and in no condition to be in public. Kelly took care of everything. I was nervous about the surprise reveal, but she put me at ease and even took charge of taking the photos when the birthday boy arrived. Now the food, it was amazing. We had the Luau package and it was perfect. The pulled pork was a hit and the steak was cooked perfectly. Even the rolls were on point. I have never used a caterer before, but since I was so stressed about pulling off the surprise, my friends talked me into it - and boy was it worth it. Attended a family reunion that Blue Collar catered. The venue was family style BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs and everything that goes along with it. OMG the food was amazing, from the grilled items to salads, items that needed to be chilled were. The Grill Master and the server went above and beyond with their service, even cleaned up and bagged all the garbage. I would defiantly utilize this caterer for my events in the future. read more

My family and I decided to have a surprise birthday party for my mother in law which was held this past Saturday at our home. We wanted catering because we didn't want to have to do much other than enjoy ourselves. I literally just googled "catering near me" and blue Collar Catering came up. My husband decided to go with them and then luau package for the party. The food was unbelievable and Kira the staff who was at the house for the 5 hours we booked for was delightful. We stopped here on our way home from the beach. Good and fast family favorites. It's worth the 5 minute drive off the Garden State Parkway and everyone was beyond satisfied. Lovely people, amazing, fresh favorites, like cheesesteak, pulled pork and fried clams, and refreshing prices (compared to the beach-resort up-charges over by the shore). Portions are huge. We brought plenty home with us, including some of their garlic bread -- yum!-- it's garlic pizza dough, light and fragrant. Had Garlic Parmesan wings which were wonderful, decent buffalo wings, a main that was fried eggplant with spinach in a vodka sauce (excellent!) and some other really good items (large salad etc). I was so impressed with their service and their attention to detail. The food was fresh and delicious- best crabmeat stuffed flounder I've ever had! We've ordered delivery quite a few times from them. Sadly I have to give them a 1 **. First the opulent looking stuffed sandwich in the picture is deceiving. We ordered two cheese steaks & they were scantily filled. Hardly a $10 sub. One fried chicken dinner - chicken good but the leg & wings portions were miniscule - could have been from a pigeon. And all with these DEAD french fries, you know the type - rippled, bought in a big box stores or even Shop Rite, in giant bags. Why they don';/t offer their crispy hone fried types I will never grasp. And finally the star of the evening, a sloppy Jjoe sandwich, a satsifying mound of corned beef, swiss, rye, coleslaw, et al...But again, more of those dead fries. Oh yeah,an $8.00 order of 10 chicken wings, uh, I mean pigeon wings. We were embarrassed because we told our friends that this was a good place to order from if you didn't want Italian or Chinese. And bear in mind that they cater. If they keep this up, they wont get much good word of mouth. read more

We just discovered Blue Collar and are sorry it took so long. The meats were cooked perfectly and the Bbq sauce was amazing. The fries were wanting salt badly, but the other sides were great, especially the onion rings. Even the chicken fingers, normally a standard children's fare, had a great flavor.
