I needed to get my men's jade ring sized, and had called ahead of time to find out the cost. Mr. Nhon Phung, the owner, quoted $20, which in my opinion was a great price, considering that other places, like Paris Jewelers, charged five times (!) that amount at $95-$125. I went to see Nhon on a cool drizzly September morning just before noon (September 24, 2018), after picking up my girlfriend's little 8 year-old boy from school and dropping him off at his mom's place for lunch. The boy had been acting bratty that morning, and just before I got him out of my car he defiantly kicked me in the groin which really hurt, so much so that I didn't know if I'd be able to see Nhon that morning. Fortunately, it was only a five minute drive to his shop from the West Edmonton Mall area where my girlfriend lives with her child. When I got there, Nhon was very friendly and inviting despite the agonizing discomfort I was feeling . I was still in excruciating pain, yet Nhon diffused the situation with humor and a few chuckles after I told him what had happened. "The boy kicked you in the balls?," he asked me, with a devilish smile on his face. Yes, after I tried to pull him out of my car," I said. "You are a man. He is a boy. He know where to kick you!," Nhon replied with a giggle. I couldn't help but laugh along, even though I was still twitching uncomfortably in my seat! Nhon quickly put me at ease and got to the task at hand. Every time I moaned, Nhon would check if I was alright. "How's your balls? You okay?," he asked. I told him, "I'm okay. It's just the kid kicked me really hard." Nhon replied, "What a naughty little boy!" I shook my head and let out a big groan. Nhon couldn't help but giggle. At least he was sympathetic and concerned, which shows you what a kind person he is. He then told me my ring would be ready in a few hours, and even though the jade in my ring was "bezel set", which can be a challenge to work with when resizing, he assured me that it could be done with no harm to the stone. He said he would cover and protect the stone, to shield it from the heat as the ring was being resized. In addition to resizing my ring, I also asked Nhon if he could polish my men's 18k gold bracelet. After two years of wearing it, it had become scuffed up with scratches and wasn't that shiny anymore. Nhon took my bracelet to the back, and in less than 5 minutes he made it as shiny as the day I bought it! I was amazed at how nice it looked. I left my men's ring with Nhon and went back that same day, five hours later at 4:30 pm. to pick it up. The ring fit perfectly on my right ring finger. I was very happy. In addition to getting my jade ring resized and my bracelet polished, I bought a Citizen men's Ecco watch from Nhon. He gave me a good price on the watch. Overall, I was very satisfied with both the workmanship and great customer service at this store, and especially with Nhon. The guy is easygoing, considerate, and has a sense of humour. Although he was amused that I got "kicked in the balls" by a small child, he still showed genuine concern and kept asking me if I was alright. I will no doubt go back to him for my goldsmith and jewelry needs in the future.

Not only had Mark done a fair amount of work with old coins previously, but he also had some great suggestions about how to set them and how to keep the price down to within my preferred price range. He started by talking me through what I wanted, estimating the price range I could expect depending on various options, and understanding exactly what I was looking for. Then he followed up with a few quick sketches to give me an idea of options to choose between. The cufflinks were completed on time and look great; the recipient was very pleased. At length, when designing my wedding ring to match my fiancée's ring which is an heirloom from my grandma (which he had cleaned, engraved, and fixed up a bit already) he gave me a few design ideas, then I gave him something completely different that I had already thought about. Mark got excited about my idea and ran with it, completely leaving his ideas behind. He didn't try to push at all, he just started brainstorming off of what I gave him. Together we came up with an idea which I was very happy with. He then gave me a ballpark idea of price, and said if that was too much he could make it less wide and/or thinner to knock down the price of the ring. Then the real treat, I presented my grandparent's wedding bands and said I wanted them to be made into the ring, he weighed them and assured me that when the ring was finished he would deduct their weight from the price. If you've ever tried to do something like this before you know that the jeweller will usually buy your gold back (at half price or so) then sell it to you in the ring. While you are getting the ring at a discount price, you're still paying for your own gold! Not just the labour put into it! Mark just used my gold and took it off the price of the ring which brought down the cost considerably. It was a pleasure to do business with Mark, he was professional and cordial in every way.

I was obsessed with them! These aren't plastic or glass beads or anything. They're gold! They had yellow gold and white. So many designs! I had absolutely no "concept" of the price before entering the store. I'm glad they had the white leather barstools lining the display case because once I saw the prices, I really needed to sit down. I guess if I had more money than I knew what to do with, maybe it wouldn't be such an indulgence but considering I can barely afford rent and food...not going to happen.

Beadmaking is not just for hippies anymore. This store is huge on the inside and features several rooms of charms, strings of beads made from different materials like glass or stone, ribbons and strings with clasps already attached (just add charms), and even a small selection of wallets, purses, and pre-made jewelry. The charms and pendants are incredible. There is a huge selection of religious ones for Christians and Buddhists, ones for sports, ones made from fimo clay, and even ones from Swarovski crystal. Many are from the Shag Wear designer line. I bemoaned the lack of Stars of David, but otherwise had to exert a great deal of self control. I got one horizontal fimo charm, a string of beads that look different than anything I own, and a bag of jump loops (used to connect pendants to a necklace). The prices are much lower than any other bead store I have visited and the selection is better. I am inspired and will be back.

They beaded ones reminds me of what the ladies from the 60's used to wear in their hair as an accessory. Really classy looks can be created. The popular thing these days seems to be the peacock feathered looking items. They have lots of these items to choose from; the earrings and headbands are the ones I really liked. They also have a really great collection of non-prescription glasses, or at least I think they are non-prescription. Anyways, they look great and we all like to look and feel smart once in a while. I'm sure you can find some frames that will suite you personal style. They have a lot of items like rings, wallets, earrings, necklaces, headbands, glasses, scarfs, purses, bags and anything I'm forgetting to mention. Oh they have some nice tights and leggings to choose from and they carry them in larger sizes, so that's nice. Because there is just so much to look at I suggest you take your time and look through everything so you can find all the great items first before anyone else does. I just really love this store. It's nice to dress up and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it. The items they have in their store are just really fun and fashionable. They pretty much stay behind the counter and do their own thing until you head up there with a purchase.

I have been a big fan of Fossil watches for over three years. The designs are fun, the prices are…read morereasonable and the three watches I own have held up through the wear and tear I have put them through. Recently, the battery died on two of my watches and I thought that since they were both Fossil I would take them into the WEM location for a battery replacement, instead of my usual stop at The Bay. Everything turned out OK in the end, but I wish I hadn't taken my watch into this store. When they replace batteries or do any service at this store, they take the watches into the back, so you have no idea what is going on with them. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the saleswoman came out to the front with one of my watches and said that they didn't have a battery for the second watch, and that they were also having some trouble with the screws in the back, so it would be a few minutes before the second watch was ready. I thought this was odd - why wouldn't they have a battery for a watch that has 10 different style iterations currently on display? I took my functioning watch and paid, and put the second watch in my bag to take to The Bay to get a battery. When I got to The Bay, the man that was responsible for watch repair informed me that the screws on the back plate of the watch were stripped and that he didn't even want to try to get them off. I looked closely, and sure enough, two of the screws were mangled pretty bad. Since I have never replaced the battery on this watch, this only could have been caused by the Fossil store. I marched back down the length of the mall to the Fossil store to see what they would do for me. Again, it goes into the back, and 10 minutes later the manager comes to talk to me. He said that clearly the man at the other store ruined my watch, and they hadn't done anything wrong, but "just this time" they would do a damage replacement. After waiting for them to find the a replacement model in their system, it was put on hold at the Southgate location for me to pick up. It was really frustrating to have my watch damaged by the store, and even more frustrating that they wouldn't accept responsibility for it. After I left the store I wondered if they just couldn't get the screws out in the first place and made up the excuse about the battery being unavailable? Either way, I question both the competency for repairs and the honesty of the store, and I will not bring any of my watches back to this location.
