They had a cool collection of gifts for budding artists, kids and professionals. Tools for painting, carving, crafting & POTTERY!! my good friend just purchased a pottery wheel. I will be sure to tell her to visit the gilded rabbit. Two woman working we're helpful. I loved the smooth artsy jams playing over the radio. It got me in the mood to create. Prices are reasonable for a standalone art supply store is comparable to those you would find in a big box store. Although you would never find the selection or specialized tools in a big box location. Having said that ...... WHY NOT SUPPORT THE LITTLE GUY! If you've been holding out on art supplies or thinking about getting into an ARTSY MESS, I recommend checking out the gilded rabbit!

This is my "go to" spot for quality framing (I always get really good advice and is always an "easy…read morepeasy, lemon squeezy"process) as well as special art supplies for my classroom :-) Marion and her staff are very accommodating and SO knowledgeable about their inventory. As well, it is a great place to stop in and talk all things art, art supplies and everyday. This is what makes this place special....it is not only a shop to acquire art materials, but a space of community where you can drop in and see the wonderful things to buy AND to have a quick visit with those who work there and enjoy their customers business and their company :-)

When I followed up for the remaining payment that was owed, the owner not only refused to pay but spoke to me in an extremely rude and vulgar manner. The level of unprofessionalism was shocking. This is fact was not the case. the puppies where put in a very small pen and you would only get to visit them for not even 5 mins. The pen hardly big enough to fit all 3 puppies was also saturated with pee of which I had to step on to see the puppies. The selection of pottery was very limited and all started at a super high price point. it would have been nice to have some more affordable options. To top it off I wanted to pay and a staff memeber was asking for my personal information half way across the store. I had to ask them to come closer so my information would not be disclosed to those around me. I'm happy the cost of the event is going to help the shelter but this could have been better executed.

I don't buy fabric that often, but I happened to be out in this part of town on a Saturday and thought, "Why not?" Years ago, Allan G built me a framed board that I upholstered & added cup hooks to to hang my necklaces in my dressing room on (our 1950s house had NO closet space, so I made one of the bedrooms my IKEA-closeted paradise). However, in my new house, the fabric no longer worked where I wanted to put it. My new bedroom is in silver, gray, and very pale lilac-- sort of Jean Harlow 1930s glamour, so I was looking for some fabric with a nice shimmer or an actual metallic fabric. Found one! Absolutely gorgeous silvery print-- almost like a shantung. My cutter was super friendly and helpful (I can't think in metric). When she asked what I was creating, I had to explain that I had this board, and it was 24 x 26 inches...). When she told me the price I just about fell over, considering the exorbitant prices Fabricland charges. I think I paid around $22.00 for my find. They now have a customer for life, and I'll come back here FIRST before ever spending a dime in another Fabricland.

Great value and great selection, but not enough to get me a perfectly matching seat over for my…read morekitchen chairs. However, I still got an acceptable replacement at a great price. I suggest you should visit Marshall Fabrics before trying elsewhere.

OK, I'm a Scrap-a-holic and Urban Scrapbook is a fabulous place to get my fix…read more Urban Scrapbook is a scrapbook supply store just off 118 avenue and 142 street. I've been getting inspiration and supplies here for nearly 5 years. It has, in my opinion, the best selection and prices for scrapbooking products in Edmonton. Their products and supplies turn over at a quick pace and as such you aren't stuck with the same themes and embellishments every time you go. Not to mention the size of their stock increases monthly! You may get overwhelmed when you walk in due to the amount of products they have, but will quickly be put at ease with the assistance and guidance from Urban's helpful and friendly staff. A children's area is available with toys and a TV so you can shop without distraction if you bring your kids. A layout area is available so you can go in with your pictures and choose products to complete your layout right there. Urban Scrapbook also offers numerous workshops and cropping sessions throughout the month and over the year. I recommend becoming a member of Urban Scrapbook which entitles you to discounts on product, specials, and "ins" on upcoming workshops. By being a member you also receive weekly newsletters filling you in on hot new product and upcoming workshops, events and important things in a scrapbookers life. Urban Scrapbook has a well lit, large crop room at the back of the store with ample room for cropping groups. They also provide dye cuts templates to help you with your creations. Now, don't get me wrong, Urban Scrapbook isn't just about scrapbooking. It basically sells anything to do with paper and paper crafts. It's a wonderful place to start if you're thinking about making invitations of any sort. Happy Scrapbooking!

If you love scrapbooking as a hobby, you will love this place. I stumbled upon it online, and made…read moreit my mission to seek this place out. It's a bit hard to find, located in an industrial area of the city, and it's kind of small next to the big Fabricland store right beside it, but it's worth the visit if you're an avid scrapbooker! I was overwhelmed stepping into the store, I didn't know where to start. They have everything you need for scrapbooks and other craft projects, including rows and rows of stickers and rub-ons, chipboards, paints, brads, and crafting tools. There's also an entire wall of cardstock paper in all kinds of beautiful colours and patterns. While they had everything one could possibly need for any project, some of the items were a bit pricey, even for a scrapbooking store, I would say. So be selective with your items, because you can get certain ones for cheaper elsewhere. That being said, be sure to check out the back, as that's where all their clearance stuff is currently stocked at half price. I found some really cool cardstock paper back there for really cheap. They also have a room in the back where they hold their craft and scrapbooking classes. You can sign up via their website; I think one usual session is about $20. They also have examples of projects throughout the store, so you can get an idea of what they make. And there's a small play room for kids right beside the entrance, for moms who want to take their time getting stuff but can't find a babysitter. Sign up for their points system and get 10% off once you reach 200 points, which shouldn't be too hard cause this place is awesome!

I'm a huge fan of Jelly Parrot Trash Crafts!…read more I ran into the owner, Jan Przysiezhiak, at SUB while I was at the U of A. He turns trash into crafts! And not in a cheesy way, this guy's stuff in amazing! Here is a bit about this guy's company: All of his crafts are from 99-100% reclaimed/recycled materials. He collects materials from dumpsters, recycling buns, generous individuals, etc and turns it into something beautiful! I bought 2 journals from Jan yesterday. One has front and back cover made from vinyl records - it's incredible! The spine of the journal in made from an old coat hanger and the pages are recycled paper. It's amazing! The other one I bought is made from an old record album cover and it is equally incredible! Jan also puts an inscription in each of his journals/notebooks telling you a bit about them. He also had some amazing coasters made from vinyl records but there was only one left after I got back fro the ATM! I was crushed! This is such a great thing that Jan is doing. He is helping our environment and he is creating beautiful and creative pieces of art. Jan sets up shop at different places throughout the week. SUB is only one of his stops (he's there every Friday, I believe). He also sells his work at Earth's General Store, Frog Kisser's Den, Modaboho, and Alternations (Saskatoon). You can email him at jellyparrot@hotmail.com to find out when and where he will be near you! I've included pictures of the journals I bought. The prices are great too! The vinyl journal was $14 and the album cover journal was only $10! Great deal, great cause, great stuff!
