I do hate to give a bad review - however this place warrants it…read more We made a reservation to have high tea. Their website said they only needed 24 hours noticed - which we complied to. To make this review short and to the point after being seating we were (rudely) informed they had no such reservation and needed 48 hours notice - not 24. Something always important to me is customer service and our waitress had none. When we explained our situation she became confrontational and did not apologize for our "lost" reservation. We ended up leaving due to the attitude of the waitress. She made me feel uncomfortable. I will not be going back. :(

So I decided to take my family for a nice relaxing Saturday afternoon lunch at Olinda Tea House…read more This would be my second time at the restaurant and my first experience was positive due to the idyllic settings amongst the greenery. After arrival, we were seated and provided with two lunch menus and a beverage menu. Lunch menu were in Chinese (understandable given we are Chinese), but I requested English menus instead. The first indication that this was not a well run restaurant was when the waiter returned and placed another two drinks menu on our table. He had obviously not checked what he was handing us and we ended up requesting the lunch menus again. We ordered three dishes, one fried rice and two fried noodles. The food took about 35 minutes to arrive and all around us, the later arrival patrons were served first. Luckily one waiter noticed that our order appeared not to have been prepared, otherwise we would have had a longer wait. While the noodle dishes were reasonable, the fried rice dish was bland (kinda hard to do with fried rice, unless you really try). Then the waiter whispered that she would provide us with free coffee and tea after we had eaten, to mitigate our delayed meal. My wife ordered take away coffee and when that arrived, we went to the counter to pay for the food. And would you believe that the bill included the supposedly "free" coffee. I paid the bill and left without questioning the bill. So my experience is that the restaurant is not very well run, food not as good (and more expensive than run of mill Chinese restaurant due to it location), service hit and miss. I will not return to this restaurant and will advise my friend to patronise it.

What a place! Well worth the drive and what a picturesque drive it is. The first thing you notice…read moreis the magnificent looking silos. On a wet summers day the mist was rolling in so it made it all the more pretty. Everything about the cafe is thought thru, from the bakery to finishing touches of the decor. Our waiter was efficient and had a great sense of humour. He certainly made it all the more memorable. The drinks came quickly followed by our delicious meals. We were there for breakfast but there is everything from buying a loaf of bread and toasting it yourself, pastries to the purchase of three different sized picnic baskets. And if the salads on display are anything to go by I'll certainly be back to order one and stroll through their gardens. They are currently expanding the gardens. But there is plenty to do! From lawn bowls, children's play areas, picnic area and meet bubble and squeak the residents of the pig sty. I couldn't recommend the Piggery Cafe enough. I will certainly be back. I could imagine that it will get busy on the weekends if during the week was anything to go by - so be prepared. Happy eating.

The Burnham Bakery and Piggery Café is Shannon Bennett's new venture and rumour has it, there'll soon be a six star resort built here & a micro brewery. The food was yum, we had the BLT on brioche & charcuterie, and five senses coffee was lovely. Watch out for the wasps! Service was pleasant. This spot is available for functions / weddings, etc. Sadly I didn't realise it was a bakery until after we left so next time I will try their baked goodies! They have two funny pet pigs on site, aptly named "Bubble & Squeak". Definitely will return next time I'm looking for a fun day out! Oh I almost forgot! The most important part! Dogs are allowed (on leash) in the outdoor areas and there's an off leash area for dogs near the car park! So bring your pooch! X

Burnham Bakery and Piggery Cafe - Bad 'cashew and almond pancakes with banana and seasonal fruit'. Dry, expensive ($14), and the 'seasonal fruit' was a quarter poached pear.

What disappointed me here was the lack of vegan food. Now seriously guys, it's not as though I have leprosy, a simple non egg pasta with a tomato based sauce would have done. Anyways we were booked in prior to a long Oxfam Trailwalker training walk of 48kms, so I needed to eat. I had two entrees veggie spring rolls and the bruschetta which were both magnificent and actually constituted a full meal for me. All they should have said on the phone was "we can do two entrees"!!!! Service was good and it was a tad pricey but the colleagues enjoyed their spag bog and we had more than enough fuel to keep us trekking for 48 clicks.

The outdoor seating has plenty of shade - even on a very hot day like today. The menu was very varied & had several options for vegetarians :) & some options even specified could be made to be vegetarian which I thought was a very thoughtful. I had a soy flat white coffee & I'll say it was straight down the line. It was the best but I would go back & have another :) The pricing was a bit pricey on some things - however, the taste was well worth it! Ah, & I couldn't resist the lemon tart & I'm so glad I had it.....YUM YUM YUM!!! A must if you are in the area :)
