It is very accessible from Portland and the drive there is beautiful, and when you arrive at your destination you immediately feel at peace. Brian and Linda do a great job of making you feel welcome. We brought our own snacks and had a picnic in the gazebo and enjoyed the view of the river, which is so wide at that point that it almost gives the visual of being at the ocean as ships rolled by. We stayed in the Hummingbird Room which has a very comfortable bed and a wonderful view out of the window. The rates are very affordable and include breakfast - Brian is a great cook and they offer several meal options. We added the firewood package and were so glad we did, as I type this I wish I could be back there next to the fire while looking at the river. They only have two rooms so if you went with some friends you would have the whole place to yourselves. This really is a hidden gem and I highly recommend making the trip while you can.

The innkeeper is so sweet, friendly, and welcoming, she really makes you feel at home. And her cooking is mouthwatering, so good! Our downstairs suite was really large too, with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. Basically an entire apartment. If you're looking for a romantic break away from Portland but not too far, this is the place to go. Walk around downtown a little, see the antique stores, visit the Twilight souvenir shop and Twilight filming locations, and go out into nature or drive along the river towards Astoria. But stay at Nob Hill, you won't regret it!

It's a cute bed and breakfast with a huge front porch to play games or relax on while enjoying the stunning view of the lake and mountain across the road, which is also part of the Lodge. There is a dock for jumping off of or fishing. There is a fire pit area by the lake as well. There's a huge grassy area for the kids to run. If you're going to Mt. Ranier, you can't beat this cozy Lodge. The owner is very nice as well. Just one thing to mention: you do have to share a bathroom.

Breakfast included. There is a private dock just across the street and lovely views from the front porch. Well stocked kitchen with fridge , toaster, microwave and coffee pot. Lots of nooks and crannies to find a quiet spot. Huge selection of dvds , books and board games if its raining outside. Everything you would need is provided- towels, blankets to sit outside, folding chairs etc.

But we couldn't have asked for a better experience than the one Boris and Lisa provided us with at Lewis River Bed and Breakfast. This place has breathtaking views along the water and a deck from which to watch the sunrise and sunset while eating any of your meals. Our hosts went out of their way to cater to us and add those special touches throughout the room, in the main house, and when eating. For example, when we were trying to decide what to have for dinner, Lisa provided us with menus and helpful descriptions of local food offerings. We got pizza delivered and Lisa had chilled a bottle of wine for us to enjoy while we sat outside and took in the view. We came expecting some delicious hot breakfasts to start our days, especially with a holiday where everything around was closed. Unfortunately, they recently changed to only providing continental breakfast... Not what I was expecting especially for a bed and breakfast that I feel I paid the premium for. This is a solid 4-star place but with the removal of hot breakfasts, I could easily have rated it as 3 instead. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal if we had been given a heads up before we arrived of the change, we could have planned ahead for it by bringing something to make our own. With that said, Adam goes out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of and comfortable the entire stay. They set up a grill so we could cook hamburgers and he was great to talk disc golf with. They also have a great spot to enjoy a fire, toast marshmallows, and make smores. They also have $5 pay to play if you just want to play disc golf and not stay at the inn.

The owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The breakfast on the weekends is incredible. The rooms are very reasonable although the bathrooms are small due to originally being closets. Tucked away on a secluded 14 acres you'll find cows, pigs, sheep and chickens, not to mention some friendly cats and the requisite farm dog, Jesse, patrolling the property. A picturesque little creek runs through the property and is great for kids to play and wade in. Don and Kitty are delightful hosts; funny, charming, warm, accommodating, and exceptional chefs to boot! We were lucky enough to be staying over during one of their cooking classes and got to experience the most scrumptious multi-course Italian feast with different varieties of handmade pastas made from their own fresh eggs from the henhouse. Breakfasts are hearty and tasty, and it's a great having it on the sun porch, rain or shine. The house itself is really lovely. Recently built in the last few years, it has very welcoming open floor plan, enviable kitchen, and spacious and comfortable guest rooms. I can't remember when I slept so well. In fact, the entire getaway was just perfectly relaxing, and I was content just to lay about the house reading and hanging out with our hosts. Kitty was even kind enough to give me a lesson on making hooked rugs after I expressed some interest in the lovely examples decorating the living room. All in all, we had a great trip and I can't wait to go back!

The sitting room across the hall was handy and I used it to get some work done. Breakfast was sumptuous. I enjoyed it outside (which was extra work. Thank you Kathleen!) and the outdoor views are postcard worthy. I won't go into how, but I accidentally made things a little harder on Kathleen than necessary and she was so very gracious about it. I may visit the area again next year and I hope to enjoy Twin Gables' perfect hospitality again.
