But we couldn't have asked for a better experience than the one Boris and Lisa provided us with at Lewis River Bed and Breakfast. This place has breathtaking views along the water and a deck from which to watch the sunrise and sunset while eating any of your meals. Our hosts went out of their way to cater to us and add those special touches throughout the room, in the main house, and when eating. For example, when we were trying to decide what to have for dinner, Lisa provided us with menus and helpful descriptions of local food offerings. We got pizza delivered and Lisa had chilled a bottle of wine for us to enjoy while we sat outside and took in the view. There is an entry hall; but no busy, impersonal lobby. They take great care to provide comfort and hospitality to their guests. I have particular requirements that they generously accommodate. Of course, I make these arrangements in advance. Ted makes amazing breakfasts. Please get up a bit early to give yourself plenty of time to appreciate this. It's all from scratch, made while the guests are still sleeping. No warmed over quiche or stale muffins here. The coffee is good. It's served on Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware, just like my great aunt had in her kitchen in the 1950's. Fresh flowers from the garden dress the table every day.

It is incredible enough that this beautiful Victorian home built in 1895 on the Columbia River…read morewaterfront has been lovingly restored, but I felt very fortunate that it is open to the public and I had the chance to stay there. It is very accessible from Portland and the drive there is beautiful, and when you arrive at your destination you immediately feel at peace. Brian and Linda do a great job of making you feel welcome. We brought our own snacks and had a picnic in the gazebo and enjoyed the view of the river, which is so wide at that point that it almost gives the visual of being at the ocean as ships rolled by. We stayed in the Hummingbird Room which has a very comfortable bed and a wonderful view out of the window. The rates are very affordable and include breakfast - Brian is a great cook and they offer several meal options. We added the firewood package and were so glad we did, as I type this I wish I could be back there next to the fire while looking at the river. They only have two rooms so if you went with some friends you would have the whole place to yourselves. This really is a hidden gem and I highly recommend making the trip while you can.

We did have leftover food from someone else left in our fridge, but again, we did book this very last second like day of so I kinda get it. Still a little gross, but again, SUPER happy we were able to stay here on such short notice! The beds were pretty comfy, too! We were in town for Halloweentown and they decorated everything so cute! Loved it! And the free breakfast was nice. Not the best again, but something to hold us over. The gym was pretty nice too. We used that as well. Definitely would recommend staying here if you're coming in to town. And again, shoutout to Wendy as well as the rest of the staff there for being SO kind and nice to us!!!
