Delightful. Peaceful. Magical. Respite. Oasis. Adytum was all of that and more. Opening up their warm and gorgeous castle to you, Kat and Donn make great hosts that have that unique balance of being friendly and leaving you to discover on your own. The rooms are beautiful, the First Light room, even at the smallest room, was still well appointed with a walk in closet modified into a treasure chest of books, movies, games, a mini fridge and food area (both stocked with snacks even!) water container, extra towels, blankets, serious, it's like a huge cupboard of goodness. Breakfast was divine, seriously, that woman should open up a restaurant closer to me so I can eat there all the time! We stayed two days and were sad to go, I could have been happy there for a week. They have a myraid of animals that roam about and we made fast friends with the cat and pups, having those as tourguides around the grounds was a nice welcome. But let me tell you, that Turkish steam shower? Wow. WOOOOOOWWWWW! As relaxing as it sounds. Maybe more so. Overall, I can't wait to return and with the great prices and fantastic food that comes along with it, it's a sure thing we'll be back again and again. This place is beyond words. What Kat and Donn have created is something beautiful. Every detail is thought out with such care, you could literally show up with pj's and feel completely pampered. Our days were filled with bocce ball, picnicking, bbq'ing, and just relaxing. Kat's breakfasts were amazing and happened to be gluten-free that weekend. The Orion suite was unbelievably wonderful, with a gorgeous view of the lake, our own little yard and fire-pit, infrared sauna, a kitchenette area (complete with fixings for s'mores!!)...I could go on and on, but it is a place to experience on your own. I honestly am not sure how to express how amazing Adytum is. I wish we could have stayed longer, and I want to go back already. Read on if you must, but if you're looking for an incredible getaway that's just about relaxing and beautiful scenery, well, this is for you. We stayed here for two nights for our one year wedding anniversary. We found it via Yelp, and all the other reviews seemed to love it too. We had gone to a secluded bed and breakfast for our honeymoon on Orcas Island, and this reminded us quite a bit of the same experience. The Orion suite looks down on the local lake, and trees and nature and birds surround for acres. It's just purely beautiful. Nothing to do in Mossyrock itself, other than swimming at the lake (which was nice, too) so if you do stay here, honestly you should just enjoy everything Adytum has to offer. It's more than enough. Our room had its own infrared sauna, and there was a hot tub to use as well. We didn't end up using the fire pit since the weather was too hot. There was also a barbecue grill, which we used, since there really wasn't anywhere to eat in the town. Kat was incredible to us. A stocked pantry with some gluten free options, tidied up when we went out to the lake (even though we didn't ask for anything like that), a bottle of champagne upon our arrival, and just incredibly welcoming and warm to us. Sometimes it's nice to be active and busy on a getaway, other times it's nice to relax and take care of yourself. Wow. Adytum is a place of luxury and serenity. Kat is an amazing hostess, so thoughtful and calm, and Donn is a great conversationalist. Together they have created a respite that is definitely worth your time. The house is well appointed and quite comfortable. The hot-tub on a misty winter night was just awesome, and the Turkish steam room felt so healthy. Kat's cooking in the morning was phenomenal. My wife and I found this place through the yelp reviews and decided to stay here to celebrate our 1st anniversary. I'm so glad we tried something new- the owners have put together a really special place. We pulled in late in the afternoon and the owner had a bottle of champagne chilled for us, adirondack chairs set out and a fire pit for us to sit out and watch the sunset over the lake. We had a short stay but had a really great time. The suite we chose was on the first floor and felt really private. The place was really nicely done. A little off the beaten path, but we enjoyed our accommodations and will be back and will spend more time on our next visit. read more

Here's why it's awesome. 1. Kat. She's the heart and soul of this beautiful property and is super generous in many ways 2. Lovely amenities 3. It's like staying as a house guest at a friend's place. ..worlds better than a stuffy b&b or a faceless hotel. I was happy happy happy there (and you will be too) Okay, so here's what you should do in the Orion suite. 1. Sit in the salt water hot tub at sunset and with your wine while the pups and kitties lay on the deck behind you. Keep your eyes peeled for owls in the trees and watch the sun set over the lake (There are binoculars in the Orion suite) 2. Be grateful and meditative 3. Go from the sauna, to the amazing shower, to the hot tub 4. Bring some food to grill for dinner. We opted for steaks, corn, potato. Kat provided a watermelon and bowl of fruit in the suite and even offered extra onions and potatoes if I needed them. There's a pantry full of dry goods to cook with in the suite. Tons of pots and pans and breakfast is in the fridge to cook in the morning. 5. Walk the property, and the dogs with come with. Bring the provided lantern at night. There's a fire pit toward the back of the house. Pass the big garden on the left of the house and find the gazebo toward the end. S' more it up. (Smore ingredients also provided) (Incredibly generous) 6. Go explore the area..but don't stray too far for too long. This is a property I didn't really care to leave. It's a destination in itself. If your focus is on travel and you have a short amount of time, I'd sleep elsewhere. It'll just bum you out to leave so soon. My husband and I stopped here prior to getting on route 101 for our west coast honeymoon road trip. This place is awesome, and provided some much needed relaxation. The views itself from the bed and breakfast are breath-taking, overlooking Lake Maryland. The flowers and gardening on the property are gorgeous. The owners Kat and her husband are very welcoming and accommodating. Kat made us dinner reservations without us even asking her! How sweet! Her breakfasts are to die for and are waist friendly too! Everything was low-fat, organic and gluten-free. We were stuffed! The hot tub overlooking Lake Maryland was divine. And the sauna was amazing! This bed-and-breakfast has got to be one of Western Washington's best kept secrets. My only fear in giving Adytum Sanctuary such rave reviews is that the secret will be out and it will become impossible to book a stay here in the future. My husband and I needed a place to spend the night for the Blueberry Festival in Mossyrock last minute and we are not really the camping type, so it seemed like an impossible task for us to find something other than a campground near Mossyrock on such short notice. I googled lodging in Mossyrock and much to my surprise I stumbled across The Adytum Sanctuary and decided to check out their website. The pictures do not do this property justice, even though the photos show incredibly beautiful scenes of what they have to offer. I literally booked the Orion suite online just a couple of hours before the 4 PM check-in and as soon as I completed the transaction my cell phone began to ring and it was Kat the owner calling to confirm my reservation. She wanted to call me personally because she was out running errands in Olympia and was not at home to look over my reservation so she wanted to make sure we did not need any special accommodations and did not have any questions. We pulled up to a huge contemporarily rustic Tuscan style home with acres of lush colorful landscape and I was immediately at ease. There are fountains, ponds, statuary, wind chimes, vines, comfy sitting areas and sweeping lake views everywhere you look. Gabe and Liberty, the 2 rescue shepards, came out to greet us at our car and were the best co-hosts anyone could ask for. Kat soon appeared as well to meet us and give us a personal tour of the suite and property. It was close to 100 degrees outside when we arrived, so Kat congratulated me for making a good choice and picking the Orion suite because it is located in the walk out basement of her home so it was nice and cool without the need for A/C, which neither of the suites have. The Orion suite is probably the most quaint and charming lodging I have ever seen. The attention to detail is unparalleled in my humble opinion. The minute I walked through the door I was instantly disappointed that we were only able to stay for one night! The main portion of the suite housed a cozy living room with a rock fireplace, a huge flatscreen TV, a beautiful brown leather couch, and a comfy accent chair. The other side of the main portion housed a fully stocked kitchenette and dining table. This placed was stocked like a luxury home and not like a rental unit. You literally just need to bring some clothes and everything else you could possibly need was provided, and then some! The middle portion of the suite housed the bedroom and bathroom. The bed was covered in fluffy pillows and beautiful bedding. It was tucked into a dark little nook which only added to its inviting charm. It was very hard to resist the urge to just jump onto the bed and snuggle up in all the fluff! The bathroom was to die for! There was a huge tiled 2 person shower, granite countertops with a beautiful vessel sink and a large mirrored closet. Just like the rest of the suite the bathroom was fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair dryer and even facial cleansing wipes. There were more fluffy towels than any couple could ever need. The back of the suite housed an infra-red sauna, yoga mats, yoga DVDs, a few Dumbbells and stacks of books on any topic you could think of. This place even smelled delicious! It was meticulous, spotless and filled with all the comforts of a luxury residence. It is clear that Kat and her husband are passionate about their home, their property and their guests. I am already planning my next escape to Adytum Sanctuary and next time we will definitely be staying more than just one night. I look forward to spending more time at this peaceful oasis in the future and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for the perfect pick me up getaway. read more

My husband and I needed a wintertime retreat and decided to give Adytum a try. We have never had a more relaxing weekend! We stayed in The Star of the North and this is what we enjoyed about our stay: - The breakfasts were creative, healthy (vegetarian and I think for the most part gluten-free), and made us feel like we were dining in our own private, upscale restaurant. - We made use of the Jacuzzi tub in the room along with some lavender bath salt. - We went hot tubing before breakfast on a picturesque snowy morning. - The entire house is so carefully and exquisitely decorated that it makes me wish I was an art major and could appreciate the collection from around the world more! - The two dogs and cat were such sweethearts and became our quick friends. - We ate some of the best Mexican I've ever had at this little place out of a convenience store nearby. - We enjoyed a bottle of wine with our room. - There was a selection of movies for our perusal on the large TV in front of the bed. - I had the most restful sleep I've ever experienced. Kat mentioned that the bed in this room has a magnet in it which facilitates restful and productive sleep (meaning that it cuts off an hour or two of the sleep your body needs). - We enjoyed a long hike down to the fish hatchery and took in a magnificent view of area - who knew the little town of Mossyrock could look as gorgeous as the breathtaking greenery and diverse terrain of New Zealand? Kat and Donn are great for conversation and have such an amazing story of how Adytum came to be, along with some brilliant dreams for the future. We will be recommending to friends and hope to make it back someday! read more

We first heard about Adytum on Tippr earlier this year, and it truly was a blessing! We had a weekend away before our wedding, and it was all we wanted, plus so much more. A perfect chance to reconnect, relax and enjoy the beauty surrounding Adytum. Kat and Donn were the most amazing hosts ... and breakfasts were incredible: healthy, fresh and delicious! We loved it so much that we decided to plan our "minimoon" there - a few days away after the wedding. (Our honeymoon is four months later!) Once again, it was amazing... a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi tub with a cup of tea and therapeutic bath salts was just what I needed the day after the festivities! We were treated to rose pedals on our bed, and heart shaped carrot cake, along with some wine. Adtytum is quite the amazing getaway! read more

This is an experience you will never forget! The property itself is beautiful inside and outside. As my partner stated, "It is a foodie's place to be." Kat and Donn spent 2-3 hours preparing us breakfast and we were the only guests in their home. Breakfast consisted of fresh juiced veggie shooters, gluten-free belgian waffles, roasted potatoes and fresh fruit parfait with house-made blueberry compote. Not to mention fresh baked muffins and scones where the remaining were given to us to snack on for the day. They can accomodate many food preferences and serve organic foods. The animals are an added bonus for some amazing cuddle time. The suites are beautiful with an impeccable view. I hope to return very soon. read more

My significant other and I had the pleasure of staying at Adytum the evening of September 14. The best word to describe our experience was magical. The grounds and the rooms are absolutely stunning. Once we walked into our room, I never wanted to leave. The jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was lovely. Dash and Gabriel, the canine hosts, were delightful. Very sweet dogs. We had the pleasure of having both of them hang out with us on our deck. The hot tub was saline instead of chlorine. I've never experienced one of those before and what a nice surprise. No overbearing smell and my skin felt amazing afterwards. If I could visit Adytum on a regular basis, I would. It is the nicest place I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. read more

We came here for a long 2 day weekend. I highly recommend going for at least 2 days...you will feel cheated with at least one, I think...because it is truly so relaxing there. We both work Type A jobs, very high stress. From the moment we arrived...I felt like I knew Kat from our emails and the hug was warm and genuine. They really want to share their beautiful space! We got the grand tour and then were shown to our area. We had chosen the Orion Suite lockout, as it has a separate entrance, private patio, bbq area and a small kitchenette. It was beyond perfect! Since we were getting away, we opted not to eat with the other guests, but next time we just might....Kat and Donn gave us a few muffins the next morning for the road, and they were amazing! YUM! Everything in the suite (and the rest of the house) is first class luxury, without being showy or feeling sterile. It is warm, inviting, serene and comfy. I wish I had more adjectives! We spent our days on the golf course, then came home to this view (see the photo) Wow! Our favorite place was the hot tub...we took bottles of wine there and sat for hours! It's saltwater, so no chlorine smell. Watched the sun set, then sat under the stars. We left after 2 nights, feeling well rested and completely at ease. I know we will be back! read more

What a great find! I took my family of four to Adytum for the weekend and stayed in the 2 bedroom suite on the second floor. We grilled brats on the gas grill, roasted marsh mellows in the fire pit, and took a dip in the sauna. We even got a tour of the grounds from Dash, the smartest and most well behaved tourdog ever! The best thing about this place is the aromas. From the flowers in the garden to the aromatherapy scents wafting in the rooms, this is a great place to rejuvenate and unwind. read more

I cannot agree more with all of the other reviews that have been posted on behalf of Adytum. I am pretty sure my mouth was wide open during the entire tour of the house that Kat gave us upon arrival. Everything is so wonderfully thought out and the details of the house just got better and better. We did not have the opportunity to meet Donn, but Kat was like a breath of fresh air and I couldn't get enough of what she had to say. I could've listened to her talk for hours on end. She's very intelligent, knowledgeable, and passionate, and the best part is that she genuinely wants to listen and learn from her guests as well. There are only two times in my life that I have ever wanted to keep my eyes open and not go to sleep. And the evening spent at Adytum was one of them. It was an amazing clear night and there was perfect view of the Milky Way and millions upon millions of stars. We even saw two shooting stars! We were able to enjoy the evening watching the stars in the hot tub in between playing in our fire pit that was all set up for us upon arrival, including fixins' for smores in the pantry. We stayed on a Thursday night and it was if we had the whole house to ourselves. The turkish steam room and the facial masks offered by Kat to use (at a small price) were beyond words relaxing. I could seriously go on and on and on about this place because it is that good, but I will leave you to form your own opinions, and I know they will all be good ones. My only suggestions to people coming to stay are these, bring wine! Or any delicious beverage you drink in a relaxing environment. Bring your own food/dinners, there is a grill and small fridge and all the utensils/plates/cups you will need. I say bring your own because although the two area restaurants, chinese and mexican, are delicious, you will seriously be disappointed if you have to leave the property at all after you arrive. I also agree with another reviewer that if possible, you should take 2 days here, you will definitely appreciate the extra time spent, but I'm sure will still be a little depressed to leave, as were we. read more

Although the pictures on Adytum's web and facebook page are absolutely stunning, they don't do this place the justice it deserves. INCREDIBLE getaway!!! I am not sure that I will ever experience a stay greater than my time at Adytum. For those who don't want the detailed review: 1) Unparalleled Privacy and Comfort 2) The best possible host-not intruding but always available and willing to accommodate 3) Did I say comfort?? -sauna, hot tub, shower, towels, robes, bed, lighting, etc.--amazing. The reviews on this place are awesome for a reason. Just do a little research (via adytum website, airbnb, etc.) and you will NOT find a bad review. Now I know why. My new wife and I spent the first leg of our honeymoon in the Orion Suite. This suite (located on the bottom floor of simply gorgeous, castle-like building) is a cozy, extremely private living space that has EVERYTHING you need and then some!! We were blown away by how much food is stocked in your pantries and in the middle of our visit (which was only 4 days), the amazing host, Kat, asked if we needed anything and she went grocery shopping for us. On top of that, while we were off exploring the beautiful area, she changed our sheets on the bed and THOROUGHLY cleaned the entire suite. Her hospitality and generosity went WAY above and beyond. People say this all the time in there reviews because it is true: Kat is the best host out there. Kat is a host that makes a difference. She will make your experience amazing. We took the kayaks out one day, she kindly gave us directions and a tip on the best place to go. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This was a private getaway tucked back out there where we never could have found it, if it wasn't for her. We greatly enjoyed as much of the amenities as we could but there is so much there! We just savored the ability to truly relax and the Orion Suite at Adytum is the PERFECT place for it. One day we did not even leave the Suite! There is a infared-sauna that my wife and I fell in love with. She has fibromyalgia and it was very healing and pain-relieving for her. The place is full of warm, comfortable towels and two bath robes that I wanted to wear all the time. The bed is definitely the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept on. We were given two complimentary bottles of wine. We enjoyed the salt-water hot tub which sits in a great location to see the sunset over the valley with a river below. Or once the sun sets you can stare at the stars above. The two dogs are very people friendly and did not bark once. I could go on and on about our experience at Adytum. The price for this place is mind-blowing too. It should be WAYYYY more expensive for all the comfort and amenities provided.
