This was our go to place before Covid. We didn't go back because of the open setting and tables close together. We went recently and although the seating haven't changed we felt comfortable. Food is still good, fish offerings fresh and cooked to order. Servers are the best, handling the crowded rooms easily. read more

There were 4 of us. The hot boiled shrimp and deviled crabs were good. The fried shrimp tasted like it was not fried to order. It was a bit rubbery. We were seated immediately as there were plenty of tables. We went on a Thursday night. The service was quick and our server did an excellent job of taking care of our needs. She did not wait to be called over, she brought extra beverages and hot hush puppies without being asked. Even though the shrimp was not up to their usual perfection we will go back. I had the 220 trout special- a huge fried trout baked potato and a small fresh salad- served fresh hot - crispy. Hubby had a 2 combo with trout & popcorn shrimp- equally delicious - with slaw & baked potato- Our server "Wendy" was fantastic- courteous friendly & efficient- older vintage fishermen decor- very unique. This is not a fancy place- but a family style restaurant with excellent seafood & service. Take out available. I've been eating 220 since I was a kid and it always used to be so good but I don't know what happened BUT I ordered the flounder and jumbo shrimp combo plate and when I tell you the fish didn't have any flavor The coleslaw wasn't sweet and no taste as well and the hushpuppies were ok but so huge I'm so disappointed paid over 60$ for 3 plates and they even forgot the Tartar sauce!! Would not recommend! Who ever is cooking now needs to quit! read more

The moment I entered the restaurant to pick up my order, I hear someone coughing; as I glanced over, I noticed who I believed to be a waitress, while I am signing my receipt, once again that nasty cough; I asked the cashier if that person coughing is a waitress and the cashier responded "Uhum " I told cashier to tell the manager that a customer questioned an employee "waitress" onsite and around food and customers coughing like that, to make matters worse, the waitress was not wearing a mask. I usually have always loved this place but visiting today, we stood in line at 4:45 for about 20 minutes before seating. The Big Trout I got was so bad I couldn't eat it. I had a quick work trip to Henderson, NC and wanted to dine at a local favorite. One of my college friends recommend 220. The parking lot was packed when I arrived so that made me excited to see what the hype was all about. It's a typical NC seafood restaurant with no flair or distracting decor. You come here for the food, to run into old friends and family, and to get a feel for the community. My table for one was promptly greeted by my friendly waitress. I explained it was my first time so she walked me through the menu. I usually drink water when I eat, but today called for a sweet tea. It was definitely sweet tea, with plenty of ice and sugar. But it was not too sweet where it is thick like syrup or over brewed. It was perfect. I ordered a combo of fried flounder and popcorn shrimp. She brought me coleslaw and hush puppies to nibble on while I waited for my entree. The hush puppies were golden brown fried goodness with a hint of sweetness. My entree was fried hard (or extra crunchy) with plenty of Texas Pete (the only hot sauce that really matters), cocktail, and tarter on the side. The fish was a bit under seasoned for me. I am a VA girl and we sprinkle a little old bay on everything... lol. It was piping hot and cooked just the way I ordered. The next time I'm in Henderson I will stop in again and try another type of fish. The table beside me ordered the trout and it looked really tempting. And if you have non-seafood eaters in your party don't worry they have them covered too. read more

Ooo-wee!! What an amazing dinner we just had. We're headed back to DC after a trip to NC. A friend had recommended 220 Seafood and we were feeling pretty adventurous. The line was out the door but heck we were already in the parking lot and quite hungry so, in the line we go.A quick view of the menu and I knew I was going for the trout dinner. A perfect serving of trout, a baked potato and coleslaw slaw and hush puppies all for the low price of...wait for it...$6.25!!! The fish had a great batter, and it was fried to perfection. The baked potato was almost creamy, the steam coming off it with a pinch of the foil, and the coleslaw was delightful with bits of relish, nice and crunchy, hmm. The only thing that could have made it any better was a good ole mason jar of freshly brewed sweet tea...and they had that too! It actually tasted like tea and not that fake version I'm never happy to taste. I may have taken a few jumbo shrimp from my husband's plate. Plump and juicy with THE BEST cocktail sauce. My only wish was that we lived closer. Have no fear though; we will return! read more

This restaurant has a cozy and very family and friendly meal service style that makes you feel at home and comfortable. Every person that works for this establishment will provide you with top shelf customer service, the hostess, the cashier, the busser, the servers. It was a pleasure to be treated with such friendly and quality care the entire time of my visit. The food is very fresh, and tasty. I have had the opportunity to try out several different menu items over many visits. Everything on the menu here is a delight to eat. All of the fish dishes are fresh, buttery and cooked to perfection. I was absolutely blown away with the excellent customer service provided by the waitress Sandra. She was pleasant, friendly, caring, attentive, at ease, and very happy to look out for her customers. Sandra should set up training courses on how to be a top restaurant server. But I must admit that everyone including all of the waitress here provide top quality customer service. The place is clean, but slightly shabby, as it has been for many years. Service is good and fast or slightly uncertain, depending on the experience of the server. We decided to eat here after trying another restaurant in the area that we walked out of while waiting. This place did not disappoint. It is a little "old" hole in the wall with zero bells and whistles. We enjoyed our meals and the service was good. The servers are very attentive, and are constantly coming by to make sure you have everything you need. If I could give 0 stars I would. Firstly , pulling up to the restaurant. It looks like it needs a renovation definitely. We came around 6 pm and it seemed like that was rush hour so we had to wait in a line for about 30 mins. The hostess was nice enough to tell us that they were cleaning off our table. So when we finally got seated we see the crowd. It's mainly locals and old people which is no offense but it's just not my scene. Then they kept staring while they were eating making us feel like we weren't welcome. The food was definitely not all of that. I got the baby flounder with a baked potato and my partner got the regular flounder with french fries. Secondly the waitress got our order mixed up with another tables order and had made us wait for our food. The fish wasn't even hot coming out. Their coleslaw that they serve wasn't good either the only mildly good thing were the hush puppies. After eating the fish my hands were very sticky and honestly the food just turned it off completely. Felt like i had wasted my $$. Don't go here unless you're old and looking for that scene. Then some of the customers phones were ringing so loud that we couldn't hear our conversation that we were having. 220 has been the place to go for seafood in Henderson ever since I can remember. They're always busy so I would suggest going when they first open around 430. In my opinion the food is mediocre. The food can be seasoned a little better but the bushpuppies and coleslaw are always really good. In my opinion the scallops and fried oysters are the best. They do offer all you can eat specials featuring different seafood on each day. They are closed on Mondays as this is the day they sponsor various community fundraisers. If a fundraising event is going on you can still go in and purchase a ticket for a fish plate. read more
