[[HIGHLIGHT]]We drove up from Miami and they did not disappoint--they brought all the energy and put on an amazing performance![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It happened to be Ms. Annie's birthday, so the band and the crowd were especially lively and fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Food (The 1-Star Dock): I'm docking the venue one star because they really need to step up their food game. There were four of us at our table, we all arrived hungry, and unfortunately, none of us were satisfied with our meals. Between us, we ordered the wings, cheese sticks, the chicken quesadilla, and a wedge salad with shrimp. For a venue like this, executing solid, good-quality bar food should be a given. As for my choice, the wedge salad was a total miss--the tomatoes were overly ripe (and not in a good way, I couldn't tell if they were in a strange marinade or just too ripe), and the lettuce wedge lacked appropriate crispness, arriving more like a flat pancake instead of a wedge. Now, I will say, as a self-proclaimed French fry connoisseur, the side of fries we ordered was actually pretty good! (Gotta mix the good with the bad, right?) But the rest of the menu definitely needs some major improvement. Pro-Tip: Be incredibly careful with parking out here and make sure you pay! I saw two different meter maids actively writing tickets while we were there. Don't let an expensive parking ticket ruin a great night of music. A coworker was retiring and this is her spot. I got there on the early side and parking was readily available. It's cozy and dimly lit inside. They were having their happy hour and there were several items to pick from. I opted for the smoked fish dip and bottled sparkling water. I loved every bite. At the start of the evening there was a singer and she did her thing working the crowd and her vocals. The set changed to a jazz band later in the evening and they did their thing also. Behind the bar a small area for dancing. Towards the back I noticed a small stage for performers. The crowd is older. I enjoyed the crusted Tuna. We were all happy with the food. The parking is meter parking. It has a shared parking lot. This area gets busy. I found out. We stumbled upon Blue Jean Blues during our first night on vacation. We had a long day of travel and needed a late dinner. We're so grateful we found Blue Jean Blues! I drove down to 33rd to Blue Jean Blues to see Dave the cowboy perform but he didn't start till 8:00 I got to see him unloading his car and it was nice to see him. I sat outside with a couple of gentlemen and I had a drink, service was good drink was good, I didn't have anything to eat, however the singer that was performing before Dave sounded fabulous. When she brought the pizza out 20 minutes later we said we were ready to leave. She MADE us take it. On top of that she charged a $5 pp cover even though we had just eaten a pricy dinner there! The music was good and the drinks were okay but the service was horrible. Our waitress disappears for long periods of time, was seen dancing with other customers and took off with my credit card. Then she came back 15 minutes later and said, so you need your bill? I ended up paying over $70 for three drinks because they never told us that there was a cover. The music had ended outside and v we were seated. I have no problem paying for what I know I will be charged for. I don't like being surprised at the end with the bill. It is the responsibility of the establishment to notify guests that there is a cover charge. We had just eaten at Greek Islands Taverna nearby and only stopped in for a few minutes. read more

Cool small place with good food and live bands that change. Came on a Monday night to watch a friend play drums and it was fun. Ordered pretzels and they were yummy. So was the peppermint martini. The whole place was managed by a set of identical blonde twins. We didn't notice when we first got there and sat at the bar. We noticed after we had ordered our drinks and the other half came and asked us if we had been taken care of. We will definitely be coming back to listen to more bands. The last time I ate at this place it was almost 2 years ago. We invited our friends visiting Miami from the Netherlands to eat here prior to boarding their Jazz cruise. The music was spectacular, the drinks were very good and we didn't eat since we just finished eating at a nearby Italian restaurant. The service provided by Erika was great, she really took good care of us despite the small bill. We spent $80 in around one and a half hour, we really enjoyed it and our friends were very happy to see local bands playing really good music. I saw one of the owners working as a regular server, not sure if they are short on staff, she may have been covering for a missing employee or she just likes to watch her business this may be one of the reasons this place is functioning smoothly and the services are fast and nicer as compared to the last visit. read more

I've been to Blue Jean Blues many times now and have had a great time each visit. I'm a big fan of jazz music, so when I want to get my fix, I head out over to BJB. They have a rotating lineup of bands that come out each night of the week. You can find their schedule online, but honestly I haven't seen a bad one yet. The crowd is an much older crowd, but then again I'm old at heart so I fit right in. Aside from the music, this place also has some great food. They are "famous" for their pizza. I've had it couple different ones and can honestly say its pretty good. I'm also a huge fan of their chicken caesar wrap with a side of fries. They also have a full bar so you can get anything from a beer to a margarita. All in all, its a great spot and should definitely be given a visit if you haven't already. read more
