    Sneak peek at Imaginary

Gateway is such a cool theater with old school vibes! They are currently remodeling some of the theater. I love that they offer a bunch of actual food options aside from normal popcorn and candy. Prices there are very reasonable and it's one of the only theaters that still does ROCKY HORROR midnight showings. Located by several restaurants and bars as well, this place is great for a date or a fun afternoon movie!

This is a cinema with four distinct theater rooms. A total of about 690 seats. They pride themselves on showing movies from the past and the present. This theater hosts many specialty films like foreign and International Film festivals. During regular movie showings, they have $5 day on Tuesdays....all day. There's free parking in the back of the theater. The concession area is small but it has the basics...popcorn, candy, chocolates, pizza, drinks, etc. Nice staff, comfy chairs.

The Gateway theater is being renovated and is under construction. The Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival is showing a lot of films there this year. The concession area sells food (chicken nuggets, etc. ), popcorn, candy, etc

Let's be clear here - there's a shortage of movie theatres catering to classic, foreign, and independent films. There... I said it. We can go on now. Bearing the aforementioned, it's with real pleasure that I introduce to you The Classic Gateway Theatre or Gateway Cinema as it's sometimes referred to as. This cinema has been around for I don't know how long, but what I do know is that it makes up a trio of cinemas in Broward County all catering to not your usual run-of-the-mill movies. The other two cinemas part of this group are Cinema Paradiso and Savor Cinema for those that are curious. Anyway, this place has something going on for it that I haven't seen in years for this type of specialized theatre. What is it? FREE PARKING! Yes folks, you can park for free in the back. Or if you rather be closer, go and pay at a parking meter. You have options. As for tickets, well - get them at the front or just get them online. If you get them online, know they'll e-mail you your tickets. They'll also text them to you an hour before showtime, which is pretty convenient in this modern age. Inside the theatre, you have reception in the center. They direct you to where you need to go, as I do believe there are multiple rooms inside for different showings. When I went last weekend, I went to see Parallel Mothers, which happened to be in the first room near the bathrooms. At the same area of reception, you have some snacks available for purchase. I didn't bother with any, but it's nice to know they're there. Something unique about this theatre is that they're welcome to commentary. Once the movie was over and done with, I walked out and found myself in front of a corkboard asking my opinion on the film. You can literally grab an index card and a pencil, write what you wish, and then tack it onto the corkboard. Made it a very memorable evening and one which I intend to repeat soon.

Such a classic scene here. Reminds me of the super theater growing up. Along with the typical popcorn and fries they also carry food menu with items such as chicken pasta alfredo , sandwiches, pizza etc. They were kind enough to prepare a marinara pasta meal minus the meatballs with garlic bread. It was pretty freaking tasty. If you're a fan of the cinemas this is definitely a stop for you. If we are just looking in for a good deal on a movie this is also your stop. I went here for a movie screening and left with a great impression, ready to come back for a date night. Oh, also, there is free parking after six! That's a pretty good offer considering the location.

Man, you want to talk about a blast from the past! We recently attended a birthday party at the gateway to see Jungle Cruise. We have grown accustomed to the theaters with big, leather, reclining seats. Theaters with snack bars that serve wine, beer and full menus! Theaters that have stadium seating that fits hundreds of people in them. This... is not that! :) What the gateway lacks in frills, it more than makes up in that classic theater experience. The smells of fresh popcorn, the look and feel of walking into my childhood, the flapping noises everytime you get up from your seat. This theater instantly brings me back. It has been a while since we had been a theater and the gateway was a great first trip!

Established in 1951, this movie theater cinema features first run and independent films. This renovated vintage theater doesn't have the new type of recliner seats but it is a nice viewing experience.

They are remodeling part of the club so we chose to eat in the bar which was functional and not pretentious as some clubs are. Our server, Dominc, was terrific. He greeted us warmly at the door, told us a little about the club given we were visiting and then proceeded to tell us what he liked on the menu which I always appreciate. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the salmon with mashed potatoes and spinach topped with crab and it was some of the best salmon I have had. My friend had a steak which was also perfectly prepared. And then just when I though I couldn't eat anymore, Dominic suggested their coconut cake. OMG! I love coconut so this cake with a center of coconut cream pie filling was unbelievable! I was only going to eat a bite but I finished the whole thing! It was dark so the view from inside was just darkness but I am hoping to go back on a beautiful day and sit outside on the patio and watch the world sail by. Service was over the top the way it should be at a private club. Since we were visiting this club, when we checked in at the front, the entire team came out to welcome us and as the local resident, they even took it as an opportunity to share with me how I could join the club it I wanted. Speaking of service, parking is valet out front and I loved that the valet graciously helped an older woman who was unsteady on her feet and was looking for something that she thought she had left in her car. He made sure she was safe on a bench and then went looking for the item which never showed up. But he made sure she had someone with her. I'll end where I began in my love for private clubs. The adage, "yu get what you pay for" is certainly true here. Can't wait to go again and see what the new addition offers. Sounds like it will be done in March 2024.

We recognized the restaurant the moment we parked and it turns out we have been here YEEEEARS ago for a fellow Yelper's birthday. So we're like "Ooh, we HAVE been here before." Usually we do Dine Out to try local spots we haven't tried yet, but it's been so long, it felt like a new experience all over again! It's Wednesday and we had checked out their Dine Out menu prior to coming, so to our surprise, we had no speak of it when they sat us down. We had to inquire about it. Our server said, "Dine Out is only on Mondays but my manager said we can honor the menus for you guys today." I didn't want to argue, but the website has NO note about it only being on Mondays... so just be forewarned! I provided a screenshot of the website and highlighted the Dine Out dinner hours too in case you might need proof. Hubby picked out from the $60 dinner menu and I had my preferences selected from the $45 menu. Both menus had a great deal of options! And because we came a little after 5pm, we had until 7pm to enjoy the Happy Hour menu also! From the HH menu, we got the Lamb Lollipops, a Manhattan cocktail, and a glass of Cab. The lamb chops were sooo tender and juicy, not gamey at all! Hubby said he could simply eat just 6 orders of it! We also shared our orders from the Dine Out menus. He started with the Grilled Octopus (crispy from the char yet the meat was soft, while the bean salad was very flavorful) and I had the Arancini Lobster (4 small arancini balls DROWNING in the best pink sauce I ever had... wished I had bread to dip and enjoy more sauce lol). For entrees, he had the Seafood Spaghetti (very creamy and had TONS of chunks of lobster, shrimp, and crab) and I ordered the Veal Saltimbocca (I wouldn't have paid $40+ on this dish to be frank, but from Dine Out, it was a steal! Again, I wish I had bread to soak up all the extra flavor!). Dessert took a while to get, but we felt like our server got very busy at the dining room area (we sat in the bar area). But I admire the attentiveness of the other workers who had his back -- team work is very apparent here. We had the Blueberry Crème Brûlée and the Italian Ricotta Cheesecake (both were really good and of good portions... I actually felt stuffed from my cheesecake!). We enjoyed every bite we ordered this evening! I don't remember the piano player from the initial visit, but mostly because we were a big party and sat in the dining room area, so it was a very nice treat to enjoy dinner and a little piano show from the bar area's booths. It was very dark and romantic -- totally appropriate for a date night! We were highly impressed and already want to return! If you're looking for a nice Italian date night spot, this is definitely a great one to try out!

If I am being candid, my dining experiences in Fort Lauderdale have mostly ranged from almost…read morepleasant to completely forgettable. Now don't get me wrong - there are certainly good restaurants ... but few create an experience that lingers long after the check arrives. Cafe Vico is one of those rare places. Although I am a native Californian, I spent a decade in Las Vegas. From the moment I walked through the doors, I saw and felt something increasingly rare. The best old-school Italian restaurants were never merely places to eat. They were stages for conversation, laughter, family stories, friendships, and bottles of wine that somehow emptied faster than anyone intended. Cafe Vico understands these traditions. I must confess that I arrived with more skepticism than optimism. Perhaps it was the Southern California snob in me--but I found myself wondering, "How good can a strip mall restaurant really be?" The first surprise was the room itself. The walls are covered with countless photographs, which would normally send my inner minimalist searching for the nearest exit. Yet somehow it all worked. The effect was warm, nostalgic, and deeply personal--less decoration than history. It immediately brought to mind not only vintage Vegas ... when Italian restaurants were institutions rather than concepts, but also the Brown Derby in Hollywood ... where every photograph carried a story. Better still, the atmosphere was fully matched by the food. Chef Marco, whose own story is as interesting as the restaurant he has built, personally selected our bottle of Chianti, opened it tableside, and poured it correctly. That may sound like a small thing, but proper wine service has become something of a lost art. More importantly, it reflects a philosophy. Details matter here. Hospitality matters here. Chef Marco has that increasingly rare gift of making guests feel less like customers and more like old friends who simply have not visited in a while. Then there was Eclair--yes, that is her real name, and, like her namesake, she was sweet, warm, and impossible not to love. Welcoming, accommodating, and remarkably efficient, she deserves special recognition because I may be a high-maintenance (but I am always fun!) Our server, Chris, was equally impressive--young, polished, knowledgeable, gracious, and highly efficient. He navigated the dining room with the confidence of someone twice his age and represented the restaurant beautifully. In an era when so many restaurants are bound and determined to be fashionable, Cafe Vico has chosen instead to be timeless. It understands that great dining is not merely about food - It is about making people feel welcome, cared for, and part of something larger than a meal. I shall absolutely return to those crowded walls once again - a glass of Chianti in hand, surrounded by hospitality that cannot be manufactured, and an atmosphere that cannot be copied.

Both the ceremony and reception areas feel intimate yet truly breathtaking. I don't typically leave reviews to criticize businesses, but rather to bring awareness so others can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, our experience had a significant issue that needs to be shared. During the wedding rehearsal on Thursday, the venue was extremely hot. When I asked a staff member about the air conditioning, I was told that nothing was wrong with the system and that it simply hadn't been turned on prior to the rehearsal. We were reassured that everything would be cool and comfortable on the day of the wedding. However, on the actual wedding day, both the ceremony and reception were just as hot--if not worse. There was no effective air conditioning. It became so warm that the bride's cake actually started to melt. The staff attempted to help by setting up a couple of fans, but with over 150 guests in attendance, this was nowhere near sufficient. We brought the issue to the staff's attention again and were told it would be addressed, but unfortunately, nothing changed. Because of this, I feel it's important to share this experience with future couples considering this venue. While it is undeniably beautiful, please book with caution. Your guests may be extremely uncomfortable due to the heat. Given the cost of renting this space, working air conditioning should absolutely be a standard expectation.
