This was a very enjoyable experience. It's located right off Loch Broom in Ullapool. We went for…read morethe fish and chips. We were with a group so they knew in advance when we would arrive. The food came out quickly and was still hot. Although we typically do not eat fish, if you're going to try it, try it here. We left nothing on our plate. Service was quick for such a large group. No issues and thanks to the staff for a great experience.

I was doubtful when I looked at the Yelp reviews but someone recommended this place, so we went…read more It was really great! I had the fish 'n chips and was informed the come two ways....the regular way and then with breadcrumbs. I asked the server which he preferred and he said with breadcrumbs, so that's what I ordered. Oh my, they were delicious! The fries were so good too. Nothing was greasy. It came with a small side of mushy peas and I could've had a whole plate of those but with the huge generous portion of fish I got, I couldn't even finish the second fish let alone having more mushy peas. My husband ordered the mussels and they were plump, juicy and large. I don't know how many he got but there were a lot of mussels! I'm wanting to say probably 20 or maybe even more. He said they were amazing, and they were served in a tin bucket which was pretty cool....the lid served as a perfect receptacle for the empty shells. We shared a sticky toffee pudding at the end which was incredible. The service was wonderful and friendly so we highly recommend this place!

This is a MUST VISIT if you're in Inverness. I was lucky enough to get to chat with Bruce…read moreMacGregor, one of the owners, and listen to him play. His passion, talent, and story telling is unmatched! The roast dinner was delicious and the cocktails were so fun! They take great care with the details around the pub, giving nods to history while pushing forward progress within the re-adoption of traditional Scottish music. Come for a drink or a meal, and stay for the vibes, history, and immense talent on stage.

Re: Delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding…read more To the Greek couple we met in Inverness, with great apologies, we suffered confusion of which delicious desserts we had at various restaurants around the city, inadvertently directing you towards a place that did not serve sticky toffee pudding. We should have pointed you towards MacGregor's as having the most delicious sticky toffee pudding, now verified after having several others that did not perfectly balance sweet with salt as that of the sticky toffee pudding at MacGregor's. If the pub is full, please find your way to the end of the bar and the small door to the left that takes you to the cosy table service room where Jess and other wait staff, including little Nala, will take the best care of you. We also highly recommend the steak & ale pie and fish & chips, should you require something a bit more than the sticky toffee pudding. Again, apologies, and we are certain you will have a fantastic experience at MacGregor's!

I'm giving this a four star rating, but it's very much a back-and-forth between different concerns…read more First, it's cool that there's a local brewery on Skye and that's probably a full star bump. The beers themselves are just so-so although some of that is just because the local styles aren't exactly my jam. British pub ale (which is what most of their beers wind up being close to) is just not my jam. That said, they have a few better and more complex beers. The Cuillin Beast (scotch ale) and Black (stout, but not too heavy and closer to a less creamy Guinness) are both pretty decent. Nothing mind-blowing though. If you're a craft beer person, this is a "fun because it's local" more than "fun because they're really good" stop. There's a few bottles of stuff you can find in the shop (including a smoked beer, an ESB, and a lighter ale) that aren't available in the restaurants around Skye, but mostly it's the same beers which you can (impressively) find for sale in almost all the restaurants on Skye. The brewery shop itself is disappointing. It's basically a bottle shop with a bunch of merchandise near the pier in Uig. There's a small coffee shop, but you can't do tastings, there's no food. There's attempt to make a space to hang out and enjoy anything near the pier. Even a few picnic tables with a view of the harbor would be really nice. This all rounds out to a four star for me, but it really depends what you're looking for.

Nice little shop with nice staff, but there isn't a tasting room to try before you buy(I'm not sure…read morewhat the UK's laws are regarding this.). So there is some risk on buying something you might not like, but all the bottles were reasonably price anyway. I paid a reasonable £3.30 for a 500ml bottle of tasty ale.
