We really liked the chilled ambiance and the friendly staff. But a fine restaurant isn't only about good ambiance and fun staff. Before sounding like an old grandpa complaining, here are some reasons why your experience in the lake house might be different to ours: -Maybe the chef wasn't in a good mood that day. It was, after all, a gloomy rainy day. -Or maybe our expectations were too high after reading all the reviews here. -Or maybe because we came in a big-ish group (13 in total, an unlucky number too, some may believe). But the famous lake house didn't live up to my expectations for the following reasons: 1. The food simply took too long to arrive. We ordered by 1pm and food didn't arrive til almost an hour later. Granted that we weren't a small group, but the restaurant was half empty and it wasn't well communicated that it would take that long to cook. 2. The flavour was quite bland for most dishes. It was as if the pasta was left to boil for too long, and there wasn't enough salt to season the burgers. The dishes came out with inconsistent quality. Some dishes, like the fish and chips and chicken, were quite good; while others didn't live up to the premium price they charged. Hopefully your experience will be on par with the previous positive reviews.. I think we were just unlucky. Maybe the trick is to do the opposite of what we've done: go in a small group less than 13, have low expectations, and bribe the chef with some lollies. Good luck.

There's a stage and bi-fold doors at the back of the stage. It's quite large. You can fit about 200 pax. Seated approx 150? A very unique and beautiful all for all occasions. There's one toilet and a parents room/bridal party room to store all your things. Upstairs has a good view especially for videographers and photographers. You can have caterers which is quite common. You need to book it with The Breakfast Point Country club and it does get really busy in the high season so be sure to book early.

The Collaroy Centre
This is my first time writing a review because I had lots I wanted to say about this place…read more I came here for my Year 4 school camp. This camp (?) was amazing. First of all, the beds were actual beds, with comfortable matresses and soft cusions. In my Cabin, I had 6 or 7 other friends. WE HAD 2 BATHROOMS!!!! This also included the modernised shower, along with a hanger and tiled walls. We also had cabinets to store stuff (although we didn't use it). Food was awesome. Although I only went there for 2 days and 1 night, the food was incredible. At the time of my visit, There was a condiments buffet. We even traded sauces and salts with eachother - like a market (we got in trouble though). Dinner was chicken with mushroom sauce. The centre also consisted of a "special diet meal" where my best friend had. He claimed it was suitable. There was also a breakfast self serve BTW. There was a disco night on the eve of camp, it was average. The collaroy centre is dotted on a nice hill on its back. There we glanced at animals. When we were about an hour before leaving, we played soccer that they provided, as well as other games. However, the activities were the highlight. This may be subjective, but it consisted of my favourate activities - Archery and Laser tag. The instructors were also humourous. Other activities (Giant swing, Balancing challenge, Treasure hunt) were ok. The only thing I was slightly dissatisfied about was the long walks (I am a lazy person). I had to crawl ~1km uphill to the giant swing. Our cabins were also slightly far from our drop off. Overall, A very nice camp compared to others. I was shocked to see its bedding and food alike. Activities were entertaining. Only docked a star because of long walks.

Drove towards the top and parked the car near to where the reception was. When I asked the staff about where the group I was supposed to be in, she quickly guided me and told me about the three groups which were there and the respective locations. Whoops.. I heard deaf as death. And yup, luckily I didn't enter the wrong group. Decided to go to the chapel and the cabins to look for familiar faces. Unfortunately wasn't easy to find as there are five different cabin locations. Decided to send a text to the person in-charge and finally I found them. Joined the group for both lunch and dinner. The dining area was pretty big overviewing the Pacific ocean. The weather was pretty great while I was there and so the slow motion waves were visible. Even saw a golf course before the ocean. Food wise, could say it was pretty good. Lunch, we had chicken cutlet with burrito wraps and cheese as well as salad on the side. Dinner, we had beef slices with yellow noodle and some paprika on the side as well as chocolate cupcake on the side. Didn't join in for tea break and supper which might have good variety of foods too. After lunch, just outside the cafeteria we spotted some birds. Managed to get close shots of those birds eating bread crumbs or apple. The families who were with us enjoyed interacting with the birds. The chapel has a big conference room with plenty of chairs and tables on the side. It has a small podium with microphone as well. You could see the sea view from the chapel - conference room as well. Overall, I think it is a nice getaway area for varieties of events. It is also near to a mall with bowling or laser tag area as well as close by beaches around the area. Before coming here, there are two petrol/gas stations nearby on the main road. :)

Down a little too much Veuve, stroll along the pier and make like a millionaire as you consider you're next floating investment. Just try and narrow it down to one. Then return to the bar and drink a little more Veuve... cool off in the harbourside pool and grab a leisurely lunch in the uber chic restaurant. A relatively recent restaurant fit out by Mike McCann of Concrete Blonde fame feels timeless, elegant and a little bit Colorado cabin on the water come winter with timber panelled walls and open fireplaces. Of course, the panoramic views of Sydney Harbour is a constant reminder that you are not in fact in Colorado... but the contrast works well nevertheless. Summer Sundays seafood buffets are a must. How many prawns can one consume in a single sitting? Only one way to find out. There once were jet skis on offer for endless Harbour fun, until Bob Carr put a lid on them. Cheers Bob. Well, back to the bar then I guess...
Eschol Park House
Heading to Eschol Park House for a wedding reception I didn't know what to expect…read more To be honest the princess in me was a little judgemental due to the location and impression I was given, well how wrong I was, this was a beautiful location for a wedding, classy, pretty and stylish with a heritage feel. It is a heritage listed house, the wedding we attended was one of 2 on the day, with the ceremony in the grounds. I know the wedding we attended was planned on a tight budget, but you would never have known that. It really was a beautiful day, the food was lovely, salmon steak with avocado, dill and capers as an entree, a beautiful main of chicken and sweet potato mash or lamb shanks and a dessert platter with a trio of little dessert tasters. It was a beautiful day!
