Hey, I'd like to see you try to resist the lure of post-gig chippy at 10pm on a Saturday night! Maybe you have stronger willpower than me and can resist - well, congratulations. I'll give you a high 5 next time I see you. As soon as the bright blue lights of Blue Lagoon hit my eyes I was drawn in and there was no stopping me. We got cheese & chips and a large chicken pakora to share, and a can of juice (coke) for Graeme. That cost nearly £10 all up (JEEZO) but it was pretty quick and off we went. I've got to say, I already had low expectations so don't think I'm a novice at this late-night-chippy thing. But sadly, the food was just bad. The pakora was wrong on so many levels - dry, unpleasant texture and the sauce was semi-congealed and bland at the same time. I would never get the pakora here again. The chips and cheese was better but still - it's chips with cheese on top, I'm pretty sure that can't go too bad. The kicker? They also didn't have any potato fritters. What fresh hell is this?! Make better life decisions when you're on Sauchiehall St on a Saturday night. And I'm not just talking about the food.

I arrived at The Chippy Doon The Lane at the right time, around 5:45 p.m., on Tuesday 16 July 2019…read more The walk in to the entrance was through an alley between two buildings and had signage marking the restaurant was getting near, as I approached not another person did appear. The name of the restaurant was in sideways vertical lettering on the building face. Making my way in the entrance, a host greeted me and took me to an open table. The dinner rush at that time was small, and I looked over the menu. I went with fried haddock, hand-cut baked/fried chips, small white orbs of pickled onions, and tartar sauce. For my beverage I went with water with lemon in it. Prices were excellent (for example the pickled onions were less than one pound) and the servings were very large, I was happy I was hungry. The fish was perfectly flaky and fried to a golden perfection. The tartar sauce was thick and flavorful and the fries not too crispy nor soggy. They were especially good dipped in the tartar sauce. The restrooms were marked by gender - male and female. I felt more at home with those terms than I did the terms man and woman used back in the United States of America. Found it as a form of confidence builder as a female solo traveler that night. It was still light out when I left and I felt safe walking back out through the alley and to my hotel.

Food was lovely and I was so surprised it sold alcohol The service was amazing with lovely staff…read moreWas definitely made very welcome
