I can only go on the fish suppers as I have not tried anything else, maybe they just don't get fresh fish straight off the dock like the Hurrie or Viking do but the Haddock fish suppers here leave me cold. For those that remember the old fish and chippy in Giffnock "The Glen" it will always be sadly missed as it was the best fish and chippy in the southside but surprisingly shut down many years ago; the owner (a lovely lady too) actually now works in Asda at the Avenue on the tills. The service at the Catch also leaves a lot to be desired, they just seem to want to sell and take the cash with no real friendly customer service as such. The Glen always knew all of their regulars by name - hint, hint as that is part of what keeps customers coming back but it seems this is a forgotten skill as its all about the money and speed of service now it seems without any attention to making a good fry up either!

For main I went for the half lobster and it was really nice - delicious meat, a nice amount of garlic butter and the claw came cracked so I didn't have to worry about that. We got a side of potato fritters (which weirdly aren't on the menu, but they do have them) but they were underseasoned and bland until I loaded them up with salt and vinegar (the chips didn't have this problem). I'd definitely go back to Catch and would get a takeaway here, but I do think the prices are pretty steep for what is a casual fish shop dining experience. The prices are considerable cheaper if you're taking away (cod is £10.95 for eat in or £5.40 take away!) so we will do that next time. The name of the restaurant was in sideways vertical lettering on the building face. Making my way in the entrance, a host greeted me and took me to an open table. The dinner rush at that time was small, and I looked over the menu. I went with fried haddock, hand-cut baked/fried chips, small white orbs of pickled onions, and tartar sauce. For my beverage I went with water with lemon in it. Prices were excellent (for example the pickled onions were less than one pound) and the servings were very large, I was happy I was hungry. The fish was perfectly flaky and fried to a golden perfection. The tartar sauce was thick and flavorful and the fries not too crispy nor soggy. They were especially good dipped in the tartar sauce. The restrooms were marked by gender - male and female. I felt more at home with those terms than I did the terms man and woman used back in the United States of America. Found it as a form of confidence builder as a female solo traveler that night. It was still light out when I left and I felt safe walking back out through the alley and to my hotel.

The food itself is deep fried stuff, and the portions are huge. if you sit down. Take out the same. They claim to have invented the famous Glasgow Fish tea, I don't doubt it. The staff are a laugh.
