Very pretty but there is a charge which is not great. If there was free access to go swiming or put a board or kayak in that would be nice

We have been going to Blue Lakes for around 10 years. We were very disappointed this stay. The staff was edgy and unfriendly. The grounds were rundown. The staff stated when we got there that they couldn't wait to get out of there to go home, meaning Texas. Since the captain left the pool is closed. The management was using a mole poison on the lawn where pets and people lounge.Our towel was stained and the floor under the bed unswept.Barbara could use a lesson in customer service. This lake is so beautiful! A perfect place to be at on a hot summer day. It's located right off the highway, with parking on the shoulder. The area we hung around at had a huge rope swing! It was my first time on a rope swing and it was scary but fun! The water felt really nice as well. There are a couple resorts across the lake. I'd love to visit this lake again. read more

A lovely place to swim and relax on the shore of Blue lake. Has picnic tables and a green grass field bordering the lake. There is a dock you can swim out to and dive off of. Highly recommend. read more

It's a private member resort but lots become available from time to time.Plus cabin rentals available to non members. Rustic but across from your cabin is a gorgeous spring feed clear lake. read more

#125 I had a friend ask me, "Why do they call it Blue Lakes? They should call it Green Lakes." Well, maybe because Green Lakes sounds less like I want to swim in it I suppose... We had such a great time here. The scenery is beautiful. The water is warm. There are tons of activities for both adults and kids to have fun. We even met two families from Santa Cruz enjoying the #lakelife while we were there. I asked, "Why would y'all leave the beach to come to the lake?" They both said, "Because this lake is awesome." Well said. We rented a boat one day and packed a picnic lunch so we could enjoy some time out on the water, away from noise, confusion and the city. It was so tranquil. I would recommend Blue Lakes to anyone wanting to just get away from it all for a weekend. It is so beautiful and peaceful--and who doesn't need peace in their life? Word to the wise and just so you know-- unless you own a waterfront property, don't bother going to Blue Lakes. Unless you just want to drive around it a few times in vain, looking for a spot to enjoy the day. Sunday was a perfect day for a picnic and I thought of Blue Lakes, about 20-30min. away from us. They are 2 mountain lakes along Hwy. 20 and they always looked so pretty & inviting from the road. John was leery of us finding a spot with a beach, and darned if he wasn't right. I had read on a website that there were beaches, boat ramps, fishing areas. What it didn't tell you, it's ALL private. There are a few resorts and then the afore mentioned cabins on the lake. The public is out of luck. Well, since I packed yummy lunch, we had all the beach stuff, and grandson was promised a day at a beach, we bit the bullet & paid $4 per person day-use fee at Pine Acres resort. What we found was a sloping, windy, rather cool small beach, with dogs running loose [ why is that sign posted there, saying "no dogs allowed'?] It was fringed with RV's and a very loud & beer-fueled horseshoe tournament going on in the area above us. We really did try to make the best of it... laid the blanket, got out the beach toys, sat in the beach chairs. But Darren was cold, the wind was relentless-- it just wasn't working. We spent about 20 min. there then headed back to the car. You know, it's a beautiful location & pretty lakes, but it's made much too difficult to enjoy. At least no one in the car said " I told you so" on the way home. read more

I was shocked to see the service and attitude that I received at Blue Lakes Camp Ground. They were jut rude and treated people like they didn't care. I will Never ever go back there again or have anyone that I know even want to go there. Pet Friendly, right.... I drove 3 hours to visit friends and they would not let my Dog in because I was not staying there. I offered to pay for the whole night stay in full but just staying for 2-3 hours and she said no. Just amazing.... Good luck with anyone who wants to go camping there. read more

I had a cabin here in June 2009, tripple digit weather and a nice warm lake. Rope swing, canoe, rafts a great place family or alone. Not good for bike rides but over all a great place! The locals are also kind with directions, places to eat and all that. read more

It's mid Oct 2014 cool to cold but beautiful. No crowds, rain and fog but who cares it quiet and wondeful. GIANTS in World Series, owner allowed us to use the meeting room and TV to watch. read more

We had an incredibly bad experience here a few years ago, and it seems my original post somehow got erased. HMM!! But, our situation was SO WEIRD, I have to restate it. As part of a group of five families we were camping over an extremely hot summer weekend during the drought. Since our camp sites were right in the sun, we moved to the picnic table area in the shade and were finishing our early dinner. With the food spread out pot luck style and the youngest kids in high chairs, it was nice. All of a sudden an middle aged man who works there turns on the sprinkler system right on us. It was incredible. He never said anything to us, like AT ALL!! It was the oddest thing, we were dumbfounded. Aside from the fact that it was 5 PM on a Saturday during the busy camping time, right where all the picnic tables are in the only shade on the premises, with a large group eating food there, and it is known you aren't to water your grass this time of the day, ever, let alone during a drought, but there was another mother, separate from us, relaxing under a tree nursing her baby, with her toddler crawled up next to her. It was insane, he didn't even bat an eye lash or acknowledge us. I finally found my voice and asked him to AT LEAST let us clear away our food. He completely ignored me. I do not exaggerate, full sprinkler system turned on us while eating food without a courteous warning. The only silver lining was we were already finishing up. As a group, we continue to camp every year, but NEVER at this campground. And every camping trip, we sit around the fire and reminisce about "this one time at blue lakes". read more

Even though it was raining, we found it to be very relaxing. We could have stayed home but then you look around and see things that should be done. We come here as much as we can. They have nice bathrooms with hot water showers.Love the fishing and use our kayaks from one lake to an another. Quite the work out. This week end we got our favorite spot, right in front of the water. Nice to wake up and look out the window to see the ducks on the lake. Think I'll take Monday off too. read more

I loved the rooms really updated and nice. We went to lay by the pool no lounge chairs just iron rod chairs that were uncomfortable and you look through the chainlinked fence to see the workers trailers. We had gotten there early on a Thursday and no people there and they would not let us check in early even though our room was done. The manager there was rude to us. Not used to a place to be treated like that. The owner was nice though but the staff was less than helpful. We were excited to go to the restaurant and bar but there was none. read more

Lodging is very adequet and comfortable. Shower works, toilet works, kitchen is functional and with adequet utensils, refrigerator, stove, oven, dishes etc. BBQ's need some work. Enjoyed our stay. Need to write letters to Californbia Fish and Game to STOCK THE DAMN LAKE for big weekends and maybe get the owners of the three local resorts to do it, if the DFG won't. I come for the trout fishing and there wasn't any during Labor Day Weekend...two years in-a-row-now, at all. If I have to rent a boat and sit in the hot sun to try and catch deep trout, I won't be coming back. The resort is crowded, but lake is cool and beach is also adequet. The Horse-shoe tourney was on and the same guests always show up during this weekend, so it feels like family. Not many bad-apples here. Met more nice people and made friends with Alex and Dillion and mom. I beat Alex at his own game...A stare-down contest...I won ! I'll be back when the trout are running. Reasonable prices. You get what you expect to get. Friendly Staff and Managers. Get some trout for us fishermen to brag about, please. You stock-em, we'll catch-em and eat-em. read more
