I visited Hastings, NE for a 4-day trip and stopped by here TWICE during my stay. They hooked me with their Celestial Pesto sandwich, cozy atmosphere, and friendly accommodating staff. The first time I visited the barista made me a personalized coffee drink based off my preferences and she knocked it out of the park! I also ordered the Celestial Pesto sandwich based off her recommendation and it was simple but so delicious!! It was so good, in fact, that I returned a couple days later to order that sandwich again before I left! This time I ordered a lavender lemonade to drink and it was yummy! Cute place to grab a cup of coffee or meet up for a late lunch. I was in town and got to pop in about 15 minutes before they closed for the day. I ordered a really yummy pesto grilled sandwich to go with potato salad and a 32 ounce iced tea with some vanilla syrup. There was lots of space in the venue and the bathrooms were clean. They don't make their potato salad in house, but she said it's local and everyone loves it. I hope to come back again the next time I'm in Hastings I'll be able to sit and enjoy the ambience a little bit. My favorite part was the blue ceiling! I will say there weren't a lot of lights in the back so it's really dark toward the back half if you're looking for that kind of ambience but if you want more natural light and additional lighting, then you can sit in the front half. read more

Great place to dine inside if you like something more cozy. It isn't fancy. But it has a lot of charm. I've lived here for 20 yrs. There are a few good local coffee shops in Hastings. This is the small-town, traditionally cozy one. It's located in the heart of Hastings downtown. The coffee shop can be accessed from 2nd street or from the parking lot behind (look for the labeled awning and murals). The first thing I noticed was the menu is extensive! There are a multitude of latte and mocha flavors to choose from, and these can be hot, cold, or blended. Not only that, but there's also chai tea, brewed tea, Italian tea, sandwiches, pastries, and cakes! I've really enjoyed the chai tea latte, caffe latte, and sandwiches. Haven't had the drip coffee so I can't speak to this. The moon theme is very cute without being over-the-top - with moon quotes, moon art, and cute globes and string lights to remind you of the night sky! It's a dimly lit, cozy shop with an eclectic look and oldies or eighties music in the background depending on the day. People come here for meetings, dates, to study, or to simply read the newspaper. There are also games and magazines available to enjoy. If you want fancy, hipster coffee and trendiness go a couple doors down to Art Bar. If you want traditional coffee shop selections and a cozy tucked-in corner to get work done, then Blue Moon is the place for you! My only complaint is that they use styrofoam cups, and it would be great to see something more environmentally friendly. read more

The best place for coffee in town. This place has nice atmosphere and very relaxing. They have so many specialty drinks for those who like sweet sweet flavored, their regular brewed coffee are also good. To me, quality of barista can be ignored at this place just because it's a small town local coffee shop(hope someday they get certain training on the espresso bar). I used to love going to Blue Moon when I lived in Hastings. It is a must when we visit as well. I have had quite a few drinks from there (always iced or frozen) and have yet to ever be disappointed. The thing I like about Blue Moons is that when I go to a small, independent coffee bar, I'm usually just seeking espresso, I need a pump up. This one (and the one in Grand Island) does something I really like--I order a double espresso, and they give it to me for the single shot price ($1.33 with tax). Cos they have to make two shots anyway, they tell me. This place has the usual funky coffee joint atmosphere that one would expect, but is really important if for whatever reason you are stuck in Hastings, Nebraska, need a real coffee, and need to sit for a while in an environment that doesn't remind you of NASCAR, Larry the Cable Guy, or grain elevators. read more

This place was absolutely amazing! Didn't find anything wrong with it. I stayed there for hours because I didn't want to leave so I stayed until closing time. Iced coffee was great, and so was the latte according to my friend. Also walked by the men's bathroom and wow! It was stunning. Quotes, vintage pictures, you name it. It's in a beautiful part of downtown and barista was as friendly as it gets. Blueberry muffin was nothing less than great. Paintings were stunning, I wanted to buy them so bad. This is my favorite coffee shop in town, hands down. They have a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, a wide selection of drinks, and friendly management and staff. It may not be the most hipster coffee shop (like the Art Bar) but I like it because it is more cozy. We were pleased to find the blue moon coffee shop, or expresso shop, or cappuccino shop, or whatever the name of it is. Anyway the coffee was excellent and that comes from my wife who can be quite the coffee snob. Additionally we had honey oat bran muffins that were wonderful. The shop is open spacious with a variety of types of chairs and tables comfy chairs dinner table chairs and more places to sit comfortably put your feet up enjoy your coffee or whatever you're drinking enjoy the paper or maybe a book off the bookshelf. There is also a cubby full of games should you like to stay longer and of course there is internet for those who want coffee and internet coffee and internet coffee and internet. I came here three times during my stay in Hastings. They have ample seating space and a very wide selection of drinks, treats, and sandwiches to choose from. I really enjoyed their chicken and wild rice soup, their BLAT, and (most of all) their lemon berry jazz bar. I ordered an espresso my first time here and wasn't a huge fan of the flavor. Fair option for coffee, lattes, and specialty drinks. Environment is fine, with plenty of seating and Wi-Fi. Works as an informal meeting place for many community groups. Service is usually good, especially in the morning. Lunch menu is ok, though limited and hasn't changed much in many years. Service can get bogged down is a large group stops by as there is usually just one or two working. Physical environment could use some updating as it looks a bit tired around the edges. Music used to be better, too. One does get a discount for bringing in one's own cup to cut down on Styrofoam cup use, which is a mindful touch. read more

The mocha was full of flavor syrup and the coffee flavor was not pleasing either. They use styrofoam cups and the place is the darkest coffee shop I've ever been in. There are signs saying no loitering posted around. Guess the owner doesn't realize that is what coffee shops are for. The color scheme is the primary colors and doesn't hide the need for renovations and drywall touch ups. read more
