I had the pleasure of having Baileigh as my guide on a solo trek to the viewpoint. Was like taking a ride with a great friend, and was the most fun I had on my trip to McCall. With a passion for horses that can not be measured combined with many years of experience, I always felt that I was in capable hands on the trail. Some of the best things come in small packages! My horse, Timmy, had a gentle temperament, and was very well behaved. Taking a horseback ride like this takes you back to a much simpler time that is both relaxing and exhilarating; quite a rare combination! Sky was able to fit me in without a reservation, since I had not known about the place in advance, and was very accommodating on short notice. Be sure to reserve in summer though! After having such a great experience, I plan to return to take a ride into a simpler time on each visit to McCall for camping!

Our guide, Sky, was on her phone during the ride and only answered questions when we asked. She did the bare minimum. Our daughters said the ride was beautiful and the horses were fun to ride but mentioned how awkward it was to ride in silence for over an hour. Our experience did not match up with the reviews and it seemed as though the experience was adjusted based on the tip which is collected prior to the experience. We paid with a credit card and I had cash for a tip but decided to put a partial tip on the credit card and I presume Sky thought we were shorting her and it truly felt like she adjusted our experience to align with her presumed tip and she treated us with a noticeable lack of hospitality for the entirety of the ride. It was very uncomfortable that the establishment expected a tip before the ride even began. I understand that tipping is customary, but demanding it prior to the service, and then providing an uncommunicative guide is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this establishment and left feeling entirely disappointed in fact when we share the highs and lows of our trip, this was our low. Had I known I would have expressed we planned on tipping cash or would have just omitted horseback riding here all together.

This is a solid rink. The ice is cold (only people that skate much will understand that weird…read morecomment), the view from the stands and the bench are epic (mountains and water), and the fact that drinking is allowed and probably encouraged, gives this place a few extra brownie points. The nostalgia with this place is the locker rooms are extremely run down and don't accommodate well for the female hockey player. There is a "woman's only" locker room but changing with your co-ed team is way more fun. These locker rooms feel like my middle school locker room which was basically in a dungeon and from the 60's. I do appreciate character though and strangely I am fond of that rundown locker room memory. From the naked public skater eye, this is a great establishment to have in such a small town. From a hockey eye, this is still a great establishment, upgrades could be thought about though. I love rinks in general so this one is worth a visit when you make it to town! Bring your coat... brrrrr....
