I like small town Motels! This one was a great price, clean, parking near my door and on main drag. Bed was comfortable, fridge, microwave, ice, tables outside for eating,opening bathroom window. Cons: bring earplugs for cars & trucks going by (between about 7-10) and pillows are like cardboard wrapped in some foam. Cute original tile in bathroom. Not the Ritz, but has character (unlike chains) and Monticello is a great town. Try the Thai Restaurant in town. read more

Lovely little inn, in a little town. Stayed here after Monument Valley. It's a good location to stay to see the amazing Needles in southern Canyonlands NP, which I highly recommend! We enjoyed our room, it was cozy and comfortable. The staff here is awesome and super friendly! Love the dark wash clothes for makeup, tinted sunscreen or dirty feet. They have a great ice maker too! I rolled into the blue Mountain horsehead motel with a bad transmission in my car. After discussing with a few people what I should do I came to the conclusion that I was going to have to hitchhike to Moab to get a rental car. I Went in to get another night for my girlfriend and dogs The owner came to the desk and I told him what I was going to do and he told me his friend how to U-Haul place there and was able to get me a U-Haul with the trailer for a really good deal on a day they were supposed to be closed so as you can see they save me a lot of time and money this is an excellent place to stay. The rooms were clean and tidy the people were amazing I would stay there anytime so thank you to the blue horse head motel. read more

Initially I thought this place had everything we needed for a comfortable night on our way through town to visit Utah's National parks. When we arrived the room was clean, dog friendly, and there were even treats for the morning on the table (fruits/pastries/juice)- what a nice touch. The room was partially updated, cozy, although it appeared someone else's pet had a panic attack and shredded the carpet near the door, no biggie. The next morning we woke up and were hoping to have a quick shower before hitting the road, only to find the room didn't have hot water. There was nobody in the front office to talk with about this so eventually we found a member of the housekeeping staff to let them know before taking off. I hate to be fussy but icy showers are kind of a deal breaker so unfortunately we probably won't be back. read more

Wonderful location, just down the road from the busiest place EVAR - Hotels down the road, OUTRAGEOUS! Horse Head Inn, has a great rate, clean rooms, friendly service, as well as homey accommodations. Within walking distance to food, parks and grocery stores. Best motel I've ever stayed in. - Very fast Internet (the owner set 3 different wifi routers so you're always near one) - Very clean room. Recent furniture. The lobby is really comfortable, cute and clean. - No noticeable street noise even though I had the room closest to the street. - 90 second walk from Shake Shack without having to cross a single street. Pretty convenient My girlfriend and I were on a 7-day trip across AZ, NM, CO, UT and we stayed at cheap hotels every night and we were amazed at how this one was no match for any motel we've ever stayed at. You can really tell that the owner is investing in his motel and doing everything neededt. Unlike most motels where foreign owners do the bare minimum for cleanliness, maintenance, furniture replacement and milk that cow until it falls apart and has to be shut down by the State. This is what all 5-star motels should be like. read more

Pro: Room was clean. Property seemed well maintained. Loved the room that we had. It was big with 2 beds in one part, and then another bed in the back by the bathroom. Nice location on Main Street. No noticeable road noise. Serves a breakfast with several things; waffles, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, fruit, juice, milk, coffee etc. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Con: Fridge never really got cold the 2 days we were there. Cranked it up to max, and the freezer never could make any ice. The giant room had only 1 light bulb that was 60 w. Could have used more light. The waffle mix at the breakfast was really thick, which made for brick weight waffles. I'd probably stay there again. read more

We stayed here after a long day of fly fishing in Southwestern Colorado. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and recommended restaraunts. The room was small but very clean and the bed was comfortable. If you need a cheep but clean comfortable room I would definately recommend this place. read more

We stayed in this motel twice within 10 days. It had everything we needed. Family owned and very friendly. Rooms were clean. We chose an older room with two separate bedrooms up front by the road (because it also has a separate kitchen), and the traffic did not disturb us. Appreciated the ice machine as we were on a road trip. Free wifi worked good. This place is a great value! Rooms are being remodeled in sections so ask for a remodeled one if that matters to you. read more

This place is moldy noisy old and the carpet and chairs are pretty gross. We got stuck in this town and had to find a place to stay. This place had good review so we decided on it. It turned out to be terrible. At least 50 years motel and stains everywhere. We had a crack inside of our sink. The shower is super tiny and gross and the water is off temperature. I almost went to sleep in our car that night as my body got every itchy by whatever is in or on or under the bed. The staff is not very nice when I asked to change to a quieter room. She insisted I have to pay for another room. STAY AWAY from this place and I have warned you. read more

Small quaint older hotel that is very clean, comfy beds and a husband and wife team that own it. They are super nice and gave us tips on things to do and where to eat in the 4 hours of daylight we had left when we arrived. They off pet friendly rooms if needed. read more

Nice place, clean and all that. My disappointment is in their advertising. Nowhere does it say online that it is a motel. When my wife and I pulled up we were disappointed mostly because we were expecting something a little nicer. It's right by the street and you can hear cars driving by, I bring earplugs whenever I travel so sleeping wasn't a problem but I'm a light sleeper and I would have had a hard time of not for the earplugs I had in my suitcase. It reminds me of a motel Mulder and Scully would have stayed in but without aliens or bad guys. read more

The owners (or managers) were very friendly. Bottom line, the choices in this little town are very limited. If you're traveling north, I might suggest continuing to Moab and getting a room there. All in all, a fair price and it was easy to check in and check out. But very "Bates Motel" feel to it. read more

THIS MOTEL WAS BY FAR THE WORST PLACE IVE STAYED. We walked in the door only to be ignored by the owner for five minutes. After finally being checked in we Walked to the room only to be greeted by holes in the walls and paint peeling. I go to get into my covers that are full of stains and other gross colors. The next morning we are woken by the "cleaning" lady walking into the room at 8:30 well before the checkout time. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

An oldie but a goodie. We've stayed at the Blue Mountain twice now with our 4 young kids. While the rooms are dated they are clean and very comfortable. You can book online but they will give you just as good a rate if you walk in. Super friendly staff and chill environment. Only thing is it's proximity to the highway but it's not too busy so not much of a bother. read more

This place was fabulous. Four of us stayed here in two rooms September 5, 2018. It was very clean and nice, decorated well, and was quaint and very comfortable, plus inexpensive at $84.13. It's an independent mom and pop motel, built years ago, only one story, and you park in front of your door. We were on motorcycles and they let us park overnight on the porch area of our rooms due to thunderstorms, the owners are very nice to the guests. It's in good shape and very pretty says my wife. They don't have a continental breakfast, but each room had a basket of honey buns, apples, and oranges, plus coffee or tea in the room. The towels were as thick as those in an expensive hotel, no rags to dry with. We used to stay in Moab or Blanding when in the area, but this is our new best place. read more

I'm usually hesitant to stay in motels in small towns but after reading the reviews we decided to take a chance. Glad we did. The rooms were so clean!! The owner was very nice. The curb appeal might not be great but once your inside, its kittens and unicorns. The room I had was older but the bed was comfortable, the tv had 40+ channels (more than you get with most motels) and the service was great. I was able to call the front desk for more pillows and had them at my door in 5 minutes. read more

We had a reservation in another motel which somehow was unavailable(the guys just double booked the same room)... So we got to this motel and the husband and wife who runs this place welcomed us with open arms. They are super nice. The room is clean and very good for the price you pay. This is a quaint and charming place. The town of Monticello is quite small but there are a few places to stay. I'm glad I ended up here. I'm not sure if they are the owners or managers but they are so incredibly nice and accommodating. You can tell they take pride in their property. The place is a little older but I think it adds charm. You actually get a real key to your room. The room is extremely clean and comfortable. I was in a kitchenette but didn't use it because we were just there for a night. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked great. Again it's not your ultra modern place but it's exactly the type of place that fits this little town. Everything you need in one place, great staff, super clean and you feel safe. I hope to be able to come back and stay again. read more

Nasty old motel, and the owners' claimed "renovations" seem to include rummage sale bargains for microwave, drapes, etc. Beware deceptive advertising & practices. For example, a microwave does not constitute a "kitchen," and their "kitchen" hardly constitutes any sane person's idea of a "suite." Do not succumb to their pleas to take a higher-priced room saying it will give you more space - it does not. In fact, it provides substantially less than typical modest hotel chains. I don't call 50's furniture, 70's pseudo-wood paneling, and mismatched drapes hiding tiny windows "quaint." I call it a dump. An overpriced, dank, dark dump at that. No restaurants or other facilities within walking distance. read more
