This is an old classic motel that has been updated. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the bed is super comfortable, the room was clean, the bathroom was small but functional, and there is a desk, chest of drawers, and table if you're staying a while. There's also a picnic area and grill. We are traveling for a move and brought our cat. We booked a different hotel in Monticello that was listed as pet friendly on Bookings.com. However when we arrived they didn't take cats. This place was across the street so we gave them a try. The lady at the desk was lovely and accommodating, and she saved the day! There's also a really good Mexican restaurant on the next corner and a coffee shop with amazing breakfast sandwiches across the street. If we ever need to stay in Monticello again we will probably stop here, even without the cat. read more

2nd Worst Hotel I have Ever Stayed I should have known I was not going to be happy with the hotel when I arrived. When I looked at my reservation, it said check in at 1PM. I was surprised, but we showed up a bit before 2pm. When we got there the husband of the owners said check in was not until 3pm. I showed him what the reservation email confirmation showed. He said it was due to the Experian or Hotels service that I used. I told him, I did not use a hotel service. I made the reservation by calling the hotel directly. He then took a picture of my phone to prove to wife that there was an error on the check in. He then had to get his wife to figure out if they had a room available. Apparently, there was only one room ready at 2pm, and they stuck us in room 114. First off, I am not sure if all the rooms are like this, or if room 114 is just particularly in need of maintenance. When I walked in the room, there was a particular dank smell to the room, and when you walk on the carpet, it just feels foamy. At first, I thought they had just finished shampooing the carpet, but it never seems to go back to normal. The air in the room is overly heavy feeling. When I woke up the next morning, I was looking at the bathroom window, and it was foggy and dripping. There is black mold and mildew around the window. The shower is also heavy with mildew, and the shower head continues to drip. In addition, when you take a shower, the hot and cold keep switching, as if someone is constantly flushing the toilet. The hot is scalding! The sheets are so thin, they are not comfortable. I never asked them to clean the room or make the bed. The cleaning carts are out there all day, so I would go and get additional towels and toilet paper (they only provided half a roll for a three-night stay). In addition, I came home with major bumps on one of my legs, behind my ear, and on my neck. They do not appear to be bed bug bites, but something bit me in that room, and they are quite swollen. All and all a not good experience, so if you must use this hotel, make sure you check the rooms before you unpack and make sure you are satisfied with the room. So, the price was great. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and gave us some extra shampoo samples, which was nice. But we got to the room, and it was shocking, how outdated it was. I enjoy retro styles, but there's a fine line between retro/vintage, and just old. The carpet was so oddly sticky and dirty, that we didn't take our shoes off, except when we were in the bed. The deadbolt on the door didn't work. The air conditioner didn't blow out cold air, and it was unusually loud. We ended up barricading the door with what we could overnight, and left before 5:00 am, unable to sleep anymore in the uncomfortable bed. I'm not sure what I expected from a hotel at that low price, but I'm not mad, just disappointed. read more

The Monticello Inn - The bathroom. - Hotels Near Me - Monticello, Utah

We've stayed at our fair share of cheap motels but this one was the worst. We get to the hotel around 7pm and a swarm of bees had taken over part of the motel so we had to time an entrance to not let them in. The fridge in the room didn't work, the bedspread had (what looked like) dried blood on the cover, the towels had holes in them, and the ice machine was broken. Would have driven the extra 50+ miles to Moab if we could have found an available room. read more

My girlfriend and I were on a southwest roadtrip. We drove into Monticello late at night, road-weary and ready for repose. We checked out a number of motels and decided on the The Monticello Inn. I'm glad we did, because it was one of the most pleasant motels I have ever stayed at. If you're used to the lavish digs of the Ritz Carlton, then The Monticello Inn might be a disappointment. But, if you're an average person looking for an affordable, clean, comfortable, and friendly place to stay, then The Monticello Inn is as good as it gets. read more

Very disappointing stay. Both of our rooms smelled like dirty people. Strange that they don't offer smoking rooms but body odor rooms are acceptable. Didn't feel comfortable with the smelly bedding so we used our sleeping bags. We would have left but could not find another place with two rooms. Would not recommend. read more

I paid for this hotel online so after driving five hours, tired and ready to sleep, we check in, get in the room and realize it is Not the picture that was online. We were horrified at the conditions of the room. Outdated furniture, mold on the shower curtain and it was posted as a non smoking room yet it reeked of smoke. Speaking to the clerk after less than five minutes in the room he tells us we must pay for one night per the hotel policy. We ended up leaving and renting another room. I would not recommed this place to anyone in there most desperate moment. Ever. read more

The Monticello Inn is the top rated hotel in Monticello according to tripadvisor. After staying a night in the Inn, I can safely say that Monticello will not be attracting any large conventions any time soon. The best thing I can say about my stay was that it was nice feeling like I was in a motel from No Country For Old Men. Other than that the bathroom looked rather clean which was nice considering the carpet looked like it had been in place since 1963 and the smell of the place could best be described as being disgusting plus. My recommendation is to by pass this town entirely. read more

Clean, friendly and a great value. The good: Very friendly staff and management and has that family-friendly "you're our guests" kind of vibe. This is an older motor-coach style motel, but they keep it very clean and well-maintained. The room has all the modern perks like a flat screen, wifi, microwave, fridge etc. but this place has a lot of character. You won't get that at a motel 6! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and actually increased my stay from two nights to three to make the most out of Canyon Lands and Arches National Parks at a place I knew was affordable, clean and safe. The not as good: The Wifi was a little temperamental during my stay. The coffee could have been better, but that's really nitpicking. It's a great value. I plan on re-visiting the area next year and will definitely stay here again! read more

The beds were very comfortable, they lost the reservation for our stay but luckily had something available for us to stay. It was very cold when we arrived in the room and the showers were very finicky and would go from cold to warm very quickly. But the woman at the front office was pretty kind. read more

AAA discount got this room for around $72 while on our way to Durango. Wished we had just driven the extra 90 minutes instead of staying in this little town!!! Clean comfortable beds, but that's about it. Very, very outdated and dirty carpet!!! Don't expect to sleep in past 8 as the city "alarm" sounds right behind the hotel. (The price for this establishment really should have been around $35 per night). Definitely not a 4 or 5 star place read more

The Innkeeper who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The plumbing is in serious need of upgrading - it was hard to control and was scalding hot at times. The radio/alarm buzzed loudly, so had to be turned off. There was an unsightly leak in the ceiling. And, you can hear everything in adjoining rooms. It was an adequate room for the night. read more

It's 2013 - the last review was 2010 and the carpet has been changed. We stayed here because they were the only rooms available in Monticello. It was great! Yes, it's old but it's clean. They are so nice! We had a great night's sleep in two, adjoining rooms. read more

Definitely over priced for an OLD motel. Shower is the type that when someone in an adjoining room flushes the toilet you get blasted with boiling water. The water is very hard and in need of a softener to accommodate guests. We had prior reservations so we were locked in. Few outlets for electronics, no vanity, not much more to share. Monticello appears to be beyond it's good times. We recommend that you keep on driving. read more

My buddy and I were on a long road trip and were able to get a room with just a few hours notice. Cynthia, who checked us in was awesome. She has a great smile and welcomed us to Monticello. That night we sat outside the room with our neighbors and had a great time chatting and having a few shots. Nothing at all to complain about though I'm sure others at the motel complained about us!
