After experiencing a chimney fire we called Blue Ridge Chimney to inspect and advise. We were very impressed with all individuals in the company, from the first information call to the final installation. I got the distinct impression that this company is large enough to serve a large constituency effectively but small enough to still communicate well. All of my questions were directed to the individual who could answer them, and it is clear that everyone puts customer satisfaction as a top priority. Nick and Travis initially did a thorough chimney inspection with Nick taking the time to explain the report and help us explore options to remedy the situation. They recently completed the installation of a new chimney liner and the Napoleon wood stove we decided to purchase. They were both very personable, professional, competent, and efficient. After a chimney fire last winter I knew I needed to get my chimney inspected before I used it again. Steve came out to do an inspection and discovered I had serious cracks in both my flues and deemed them unsafe. He showed me pictures and told me they would need new liners in both of them. Knowing this would be pricey I was hesitant but Steve encouraged me to see if my home owners insurance would help pay to put stainless steel liners in them because of the fire. Erie covered every bit of the cost except for my deductible. Thank you Steve!! And Erie! Chris and Nate came out the following week to start the installation. They ran into more problems than they bargained for due to the original construction of the flues. Stayed late every night to try to get it all done but still had to work an extra day and a half. Today Steven and Chris showed up right on time for our chimney sweep and inspection. When Chris got to the point where he was inspecting the flu he turned on the camera and allowed me to watch and see what they saw. We knew it wasn't going to be pretty since this house was built in 1978 and that particular chimney hasn't been used in over 20 years. One dead squirrel later and lots of creosote we knew what we were in for! All in all our chimney wasn't too bad but still needed some mortar work and it didn't pass inspection due to an obvious hole in the mortar, which wasn't surprising. We are now looking into getting either a fireplace insert or stove through Blue Ridge and look forward to working with them with the addition of one of those. All in all the guys were fast clean efficient and very professional. I appreciate the time they took to explain every step that they took in the cleaning and inspection. Bought a hundred year old farmhouse two years ago, and knew that the chimneys were in desperate need of repair. Contacted Blue Ridge Chimney for an inspection and estimate. The inspector/estimator was friendly, thorough, and professional. Hired them to install liners in two flues, plus caps, dampers, and rebuilding two hearths. The crew of Chris and Chris arrived when expected, re-inspected the chimneys, and planned the work. I was impressed with their knowledge and experience, which was very evident as the project progressed. Chris and Chris were friendly, and very careful to keep the house clean during the process. They had to deal with a couple of surprises discovered during demolition of the old hearths, but they came up with creative solutions, and honored the original estimate even though the job took longer than expected. When we moved into our new-to-us old home we knew that our chimney needed an inspection by a pro. Steve did a great job. He was on time and courteous, & he was a real expert and answered every question. We had a lot of questions as this was our first wood stove and we love it. This was our second season of burning and our second check up & cleaning. This year Chris and Chris #2 were excellent - prompt service and amazingly their work left not a trace of dust, soot, ash, or smudge anywhere! Wifey was ecstatic because she worried at first but we now know where to get this job done right. We just moved in to our new home (new to us) less than 3 months ago and wanted the chimney checked out and cleaned before the cold weather. Nick and Steve were the technicians sent out to us and we couldn't have asked for nicer or more competent folks. They cleaned our chimney then looked at it closely with a camera up and down it's length and answered our questions. They saw no problems with the flue, but inspection of the chimney above the roof did reveal some cracks in the mortar, which they were able to repair for us. The total cost was very reasonable for the services given. I would definitely call them again when needed, and would recommend them to any friend who asked. Chris came out to our house and camera inspected our 4 chimneys so I could see immediately, for myself, the condition of our flues, liners and mortar joints. Seeing the flues first hand on video was comforting as we had just recently bought this house. Not only was Chris prompt, professional, organized and knowledgeable but a pleasure to talk to and a genuinely nice person. I would recommend without any reservations Blue Ridge Chimney. I was greatly impressed with Nick and Glenn, who refurbished my standard flue and cinderblock chimney with an insulated Steel hybrid liner, stove pipe. They removed the old liner first, a noisy, dirty job in this late August heat. Then installed new liner. They cleaned up. They answered all questions. Best yet- I did not have to supervise! As Nick also did with chimney cleaning and video a couple months earlier (that revealed numerous flue cracks), these guys did their job, were courteous and efficient, and left.(probably 9 hours) Stuck to estimate, to the penny!
