Instead, they recognized that the issues were probably on the supply side and suggested I contact my power provider. My power provider realized that the issue was theirs. It has been temporarily fixed as a second crew will need to come out to fix it properly. I had up to 8 people working on this issue for about 8 hours. Since this is a power company issue, it is going to cost me nothing. This says a lot about Valley Electric. They could have easily made a few bucks off of me but decided to do the right thing instead and provided excellent customer service.

He took apart both it and the light switch in his quest to find out what was wrong, tested every wire, the neutral, and the sockets to see if they had power, and replaced some small plastic items that needed replacing. When the fan and lights were working again, he was still not satisfied, because there was a small rattling noise, so he unscrewed the top of it to feel around, removed a piece of paper and did something else, tightened the screws, and I'm hearing just the slight hum of the fan blades as they whirl around. He will be the one I call the next time I need an electrician.

The work was necessary because of the shoddy and, frankly, dangerous installation and chimney work that had been done by 1Elite Chimney LLC, a local chimney service that sold us the unit and was completely unresponsive to our repeated calls for follow-up service because they did not complete the job, the stove was not working properly and the chimney cap they had installed blew off our roof during a minor windstorm. We decided to go with Blue Ridge Chimney after a confidence-inspiring visit by Steven Slabaugh, the technician they sent at our request to evaluate the situation. On the morning of June 29, 2020, two young men from Blue Ridge Chimney, Chris Guy Jr. and Chris Smith, drove here from Harrisonburg and arrived a little after 9 am. After a quick review of our situation, they went to work. They were here until after 8 pm, working the entire time with only a short break for lunch. Their concern for our situation was evident, as was their professionalism, energy and competence. They were also friendly and engaging, and at each stage of the process they explained the problems and the work that needed to be done to fix them. I waited 9 months to write this review because the work was done in June 2020, and we did not begin using the stove and chimney until November 2020. We used it consistently until last week (March 12). The heating season is over now and the insert worked perfectly. We are very happy in general with all the dealings we have had with Blue Ridge Chimney Services, and in particular with the competent work of Chris Guy Jr. and Chris Smith. The previous owners of the home did a major remodel and apparently didn't use the correct adapter to raise the height for new flooring. It works great now. Second, they fixed the master bath commode plus they also installed a 36-inch vanity to replace a pedestal sink. Both of these look wonderful and work well. Mrs. Burgess is always very professional and pleasant on the phone. The repair people​ were prompt, knowledgeable, and cleaned up so you wouldn't know they'd been there. The prices were fair and they sent the bills in the mail, which was convenient for me. I had trouble believing the experience Lynn M. reports and wonder if that person has some other issue. I checked Lynn M.'s list of reports and notice another very negative report to a well and pump business just 3 months earlier. I did reach out to Yelp, but they replied that they reviewed the review before and decided to let it stand. I will admit that I had no idea who to hire to perform my home inspection, and Mike was referred by my real estate agent, along with others. I am beyond happy that I went with Aztec Home Services as he far exceeded my expectations. Let's start with the website, information gathering, and scheduling process. Mike has a well-designed website that clearly lays out his background, certifications, and qualifications to perform home inspections. Mike not only does inspections but has significant experience developing enterprise size commercial buildings and structures. He provides all the details on certification and code background on the site. Additionally, he provides instructional videos regarding those items. The scheduling portion, which is handled through a web interface, is very easy and you can quickly determine dates/times, etc. He also has walk through guides on how to do this. It only takes a couple of minutes to schedule and then the confirmation process starts. You receive several reminder emails and confirmation instructions, as well as information on preparation. The website is also the main interface for your reporting, your invoice/billing information, and maintenance and life expectancy manuals. You receive a username and log on and can access your documentation at any time, print, email, etc. It can't get any easier. My home inspection covered roughly 3500 SQ FT of space and Mike arrived 15 minutes early and in good spirts. I mention this because he was admittedly under the weather with a cold, and still didn't cancel or drag during the inspection. We were able to complete the inspection on time, however, Mike did spend additional time with me after the inspection answering questions and addressing issues. What is great, is that the inspection report was created and delivered within 15 minutes of the completion of the inspection. The report includes comprehensive notes, photos, and pertinent details to a home inspection and what that means in regards to the home and home buying. You also get a lengthy home maintenance manual. The ability to save, print, share the document is extremely easy as well. I had a chance to interact with Mike on several occasions as we opted for the additional Radon Inspection in which the results came back high. So we needed to have Mike return to run the test, pick up the test, etc. He was also available after the inspection as complete to schedule additional testing after the Radon Mitigation system was installed. In all of my experience with him, he has been reliable, flexible, and earnest in his desire to perform a good job for his clients, the home owners. I highly recommend Mike and Aztec Home Services for all of your home inspection needs.
