The owners of this dog stuff store are still post pandemic crazy. 4-1/2 years after the start of the "pandemic" they are still no customers allowed inside the store. "We are only doing business on the sidewalk". "The best stuff is on the sidewalk," The owner tells me as I try to figure out if the store is actually open. It's open, but I can't go in. No one can go in. What's the problem, he asks me? I look at the clap trap on the sidewalk, look at the owner wondering why I'm not delighted to stand on the side walk and shop in 95 degree sun, and I walk away telling him that "I can only take so much past-pandemic craziness" I don't think he understood. Such a amazing local shop!!! We stopped here over Thanksgiving and met the owner. It was great talking with him and learning about the shop. We ended up buying some items that had to be shipped to us. They arrived today with some extra goodies from the shop. There are not enough superlatives to adequately describe the high quality service and products found at Blue Ridge Dog, AND they are a privately owned, local business, fully invested in the community and the Shenandoah Valley's dogs-in-need rescue efforts. I began rescuing very abused dogs about 35 years ago, and am committed to providing high quality food, supplements, bedding, toys, etc. to compensate for the lack of care in their earlier lives. Once I found Blue Ridge Dog about a year ago, I have not used any other retailer, either online or bricks & mortar store. Walk, run, take a plane/train/automobile to the Rock Town/wooden bridge area of downtown Harrisonburg to find everything your pup/s could ever need (or want) to live a long, healthy life. Take in the welcoming atmosphere, chat with the critically informed owners about their selection of quality items, let your pup/s try out some delicious treats while they are being measured and their name/s added to the "growth chart" on the wall of quadruped customers. The owners were very friendly and love dogs. I love how they took the time to get to know us and our dog.

I absolutely love this place! I went in the other day and met Amy and her dog, Juneau or Juno (not 100% sure on the spelling...sorry!). They were both very sweet! I had a lot to browse and choose from while shopping! I went back another day with my Beagle, Bullet, and Amy was in the store with her dog Indiana that day. She helped me put some harnesses on Bullet to try them on before making a purchase. Then, she even let me try out the harness by walking him on the street outside the store with the harness on. Bullet loved Amy, her dog, and her homemade treats. I have purchased some homemade treats from the bakery section of their store prior to that trip and Bullet loved those, too! Everything in the store is reasonably priced and Amy is such a great customer service oriented person! read more

was out on a walk and stopped in. Terrific shop with well-curated collection of pet supplies. My pooch loved the home-baked treats (and the extra samples the owner added). Enjoyed talking with the owner -- wonderful caring lady -- and playing with her dog (who camped out in the picture window when he wasn't the center of attention). Well worth the short two-block walk from the historic downtown area. And so cool to support a small, local, woman-owned business. read more
