My best friend and I went in for her to get her nose pierced, which Maddie did an AMAZING job with. The only reason this review gets any stars at all is because of Maddie's piercing work. However, after my best friend got her nose pierced, I wanted to buy a new earring for my tragus, which I have had pierced for 6 years. I have a fairly high pain tolerance, having had 13 piercings and 4 tattoos in my lifetime. Maddie took my old earring out and proceeded to insert the new earring. She needed to manipulate my tragus using needle nose pliers to get the ball on the backside to secure it. She warned me there would be some discomfort. When she continued, it felt as if the piercing was being ripped from my head. It was more painful than getting the piercing in the first place. She called "dad" over, who I assume was Craig. He grabbed a second pair of (what looked to be) pliers, and aggressively took to my ear. He threw the pliers down and said, "I don't have time for this. Does it hurt?? If it's a new piercing it hurts." I informed him that it was not a new piercing, it was about 6 years old. He stormed off. This was the least professional and most painful experience I've had with a piercing and/or tattoo. Maddie was amazing, her "dad" was unprofessional and rude. I left without the piecing being finished, came home, and had my friend finish putting the ball on - no pliers or ripping of my cartilage necessary. Long story short, I'm sure initial piercings or tattoos are well done, but don't expect processional treatment or customer service.

I reached out to this shop via email…read moreback on June 13th with photos to try to come to a resolution as I didn't feel the outcome was at all desirable. I received zero response. On June 8th on a whim I popped in to get two nostril piercings. I was able to be taken on the spot and all the hygiene practices were good and the process was easy. Two decades ago when I got the same piercings, they used a ball ended straight piece of jewelry, they used L-shape here. I followed all protocol regarding cleaning and keeping the area free from infection. But as the slight swelling began, my husband and I could t help but notice within 3 days the piercings were sunken into the hole. It was not only painful but not sustainable. By June 11th I called the local shop in Coeur D'Alene where we were presently on vacation. The gentleman working there wanted me to come in then, but he had no an availability, so he kindly came in early the following day as we had prepaid activities I needed to attend and he felt the matter was urgent. When he saw the jewelry he was surprised as he said it wasn't a type he sees often for new piercings and didn't account for swelling. After replacing the L-shaped with labret jewelry and $135 later, my new piercings felt way better and I haven't had an issue since. I'm disappointed in my outcome and believe it was completely due to the type of jewelry used. It's also disappointing to not receive a response from the business in over a week. Yet I'm sure I will on here promptly. It's easy to say "do your research" about going to a location but there were only 8 reviews previously.

I have had nothing but compliments on them over the years, and they have held up very well for their age. Mike had recommended I go to Sean, if he ever wasn't around, or if there was something he knew Sean would do better. Recently, I had a piece that didn't turn out so well after healing, not to mention the fact that my first experience with an artist from a shop that was NOT Black Cat could only be described as unprofessional (Bad attitude, bad work ethic, and ultimately, a bad tattoo). This shop was in WA, where I live now. I decided to go see Sean, when I was in town for Christmas. Sean completely revived this piece and breathed new life into it. It looks better than it ever did to begin with. He even came in on his day off to accommodate my being there from out of town. The level of customer service and the quality of work I receive(d) at Black Cat Tattoo is a night and day difference from the other place.
