The highlight here is Brazil's national cocktail, the caipirinha, and with it cachaça - a uniquely Brazilian spirit made from freshly pressed sugarcane nectar. This is a wonderful place to host an event, we were there for a friend's wedding. The ambiences created a truly memorable events. The staff is amazing. The bar is impressive, the restrooms are meticulously decorated. With excellent service. The view is spectacular from the patio. The New York Strip was fabulously, but also recommend that pork choices and the banana pudding. The Chef is amazing and the food is visually appealing. Ok, so first, when we said we didn't have a reservation, they asked if we minded sitting at the bar. . . Now, in a crowded restaurant that's bustling and busy, I get that. However. . . There were exactly 3 tables set and something like 10 empty (and not set up with napkins and so forth for reservations) , so I said "well, I'd prefer not to sit at the bar, if that's possible" she explained "well we just took a reservation for a 16 top and we're having to re-arrange the room to accommodate. . . Ok, they had a high top in the bar area and we took it. There were at least three booths unused and obviously not reserved. . . The strip steak was $45, in Danville Ky. It was cooked nicely, but fairly tough and with plenty of gristle to deal with. It was the only steak on the menu. It came with a small slurry of "mashed potatoes" and a couple onion rings, garnished with some dried out shiitake mushrooms on the side. The bourbon menu was odd, having only high end bourbons to choose from, and missing anything passing for a standard pick. The dessert was average, and slightly dry (a "banana bread" bread pudding. When we left the restaurant, there were about three other tables set, one older couple at the bar, and the "16 top still had not materialized." The bartender who waited on us was very nice and tried very hard to make you feel welcome and to keep you attended. Whatever they are going for, they are not there yet. I'm assuming when I see one steak on the menu, and it's the most expensive on there, that it's the best thing on the menu. I hope it wasn't. For their sake, I really hope. For the record, the girl was basically on the phone taking the large reservation as we walked in. They beat us to contact with the staff by about 3 minutes. But they had a reservation. . . Folks, take people in and make them feel welcome-- I know you want people to think of your place as "reservations required," but there was NO ONE THERE on a SATURDAY NIGHT. We had two double cocktails, two steaks and dessert. $208 before tip. read more

A sleek, classy hangout in Danville, KY. The drinks and the ambiance are the main draw here. They make their own spirits on site, and the main spirit is caipirinha, which originates in Brazil, and is a natural sugar drink. The drinks are clean, crisp, and tasty. The appetizers are the main attraction here. The prosciutto and potato flat bread, smoked salmon toast, and Buffalo cauliflower were excellent. The deviled eggs were pretty bland. Most of our party got the Still burger, which is their big draw. We all ordered our burger medium and they came out well done. The flavors were ok. Fries were crisp and aioli sauce was cool and made for a great contrast. My husband had the arugula salad, which he found crisp and light and tart. Servers were overworked, but very kind, hospitable, and as efficient as they could be. We made reservations online through OpenTable and it would let us make a reservation for four, but not five. But when we arrived, many tables were empty and stayed empty the whole time. So that was frustrating. There is live entertainment on many nights. We had no idea this place existed until an add popped up on Facebook. We had been driving by for years looking at this vodka distillery on a hill and realized a restaurant was hidden behind it. This was a really good dinner. We went into it with reservations on how good it would be. We've been disappointed far too many times when we have heard of a good restaurant. This one came with good recommendations. We ordered for appetizer toasted salmon. It was good but I prefer my toast not burnt. For out entree we ordered the steak and the pork chop. We both opted for the sauce on the side and I'm so glad we did. The entrees needed no sauce. We also got the Mac and cheese which was amazing. I highly recommend this tea. Chef Jaime helped us select a wonderful dinner for our family gathering of 12 visiting on December 27th. The small room in the back was perfect for a celebratory private dinner; they rearranged the room so we could all sit at one long table. Emma and others thought of everything, including a continual Christmas snow scene on the large tv. We opted for the creamy potato soup, the chicken or port chop, and their famous bread pudding that Chef Jaime drizzled with chocolate for us. There are some bona fide Foodies and even a rather famous chef in our family. Every single person loved the meal, the service, and the ambiance. Otherwise their twist on the lemon drop was tasty and the Argentinean Shrimp salad with wild Argentinean shrimp, palm hearts, tomatoes & mango on bed of greens w/ Miso Vinaigrette was unique, the shrimp was over cooked but that is easy to do. Our group of 12 friends recently visited the Blue Rook for lunch and a tour of their sugar cane distillery. We started with lunch at The Still, their associated restaurant. Our server was courteous, joyful and prompt. the food tasted wonderful, and the cocktails were tasty. After lunch, we had a tour of the distillery that included the origin of the family owned business, a detailed explanation of Cachaça/vodka/gin distilling and flavoring, and a very complete tasting of said liquors of varying flavors and finishes. It was a refreshing chance from the many bourbon distillers in the area. I highly recommend a visit and tour. read more

Traveled to Danville for a business trip and heard good things about this place from coworkers and my boss. Had to give it a shot. Very clean establishment with nice lighting and colors. Small but it is very functional. Upon being seated and asked if I'd been there before, I learned that the Covid-19 shit down period challenged them and they took it head on by revamping the whole menu. This, of course, intrigued me. Being from out of town, I always ask what the house recommends. To start, I ordered an appetizer of the smoked chicken wings. To summarize: delicious! Every flavor was perfectly combined and smoked together for perfection. You would've thought they were cleaned by a machine when I was done. Next, it was on the main dish which had to be the steak. Everything from the asparagus and potatoes to the steak itself and the dressing were out of this world. A vortex of flavors that I can not remember having experienced before. I don't think there was anything on my plate when I was done. Finally, I had to have desert because...well, why not, right? It was incredible as well. Three dishes = three gold stars. Absolutely delicious. Oh, and the cocktails were just as good too. Needless to say, if I'm down there again, I will be stopping back. That's a guarantee. read more

Wasn't what I expected but turned out to be a great find. Located in an industrial park makes it a bit of a challenge to find, but still very accessible and plenty of parking. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. The specialty drinks are interesting - I originally didn't care for it after the first taste then they grew on me. An acquired taste after 5 minutes! A party of 7 people as automatically charged gratuity. Sucks having 5 kids. Service and attention lacks when this occurs. 30 minutes after ordering, two of the orders were sold out/not available. Pretty disappointed in specially when you see the the smaller parties seated after you get what was "sold out". What a crock especially when I'm already being hammered for the automatic gratuity. Wow, what a sweet treat for Danville! The ambiance and decor are pretty great and the menu items sounded really interesting. The only down side really was the service was incredibly slow...like 2 hours slow for dinner. However! The food is reasonably priced, seems thoughtful and inspired. The spirits are very interesting and a great addition to the area! I really like how you can see the still from the dining room. The dining room also is not too crowded or loud even when it was a packed house tonight. I like the balance of sophistication and relaxation. Gift shop is well stocked and the liquor bottle labels are as beautiful as the contents. Met one of the owners tonight and she was as sweet as chess pie! I would go back. I just hope the service speeds up a bit. Waiter was very slow, yet kind and friendly. This place is Brazilian! How cool to have something like this in Danville. The drinks were great. We loved the beef skewer and fries with aioli as appetizers. I had the Argentinian Shrimp Salad. It had good flavor but the shrimp was soggy. The other entrees were "pretty good." My dad really enjoyed his burger. Concrete floors aren't very good for the acoustics. We enjoyed this vibrant place, but the consensus on whether we should return was a resounding "meh." I'm hopeful that the menu will expand a little more to accommodate the not so adventurous tastebuds around here so that it can be successful in the long term! read more

We LOVED our dinner at the Still. I truly didn't expect the food to be THAT good. I got the jambalaya special that was cooked with love, and my boyfriend got the pasta primavera with chicken. Truly the best primavera I've had! Everything in it was fresh and flavorful. We got the Brazilian Street Tacos for an appetizer, and Brigadeiros for dessert. Service was awesome! The head chef even came to our table to ask how everything was. My son and I walked into The Still this past Tuesday afternoon, as I was looking to purchase Cachaca in their gift store. They were closed, but you wouldn't know it. The owners were very friendly and welcomed us right in. When I asked if I could taste their 3 Cachaca's, we were immediately guided to the bar. We had our own personal, informative and VERY fun tasting. We were in KY doing the bourbon tours, and The Still was an amazing find. Cashaca with lime and muddled fruit is my favorite drink, and I've only found it in Brazilian steakhouses. Now I can make my own at home! I highly recommend picking up one of their three Cashaca's, regular, aged, or bourbon barreled. I look forward to coming back the next time we drive through KY. read more

Sat on patio. Many bugs. Our table was rickety. Oh and the service was incredibly slow. Ordered a wedge salad that was advertised as sliced tomatoes, bacon and ranch on iceberg lettuce. It was presented as slices of iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, a sprinkle of bacon and was drowning in ranch dressing. Poor thing needed a life preserver. Ordered the fish cakes. 3 microscopic fish cakes that were liquid inside and not appealing. Served with an aioli that was good but needed a better compliment. Wife had tenderloin skewers that she enjoyed and were visually appealing. Daughter had pasta with shredded chicken that looked really good and which she enjoyed immensely. That took 90 minutes. Beer selection is limited. When they sat us they also mentioned that a large party would be sitting out on patio with us. That was fine. It was 12+ people and as I write this the next morning they are probably just settling their check. We will go back and try it again. One weird thing is that a guy who appeared to work there would come out on patio and they walk out exit to parking lot pretty frequently. Went there for a small group gathering. Billed as a dinner of heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Charged $45 a head. Worth maybe $20 since drinks were not included. Sliders were largely bun, grilled cheese sandwiches sliced to 1"strips, some sort of hash brown hush puppies and a bag salad. Also deviled eggs (average), some sort of flatbread with toppings (decent), but overall, not good.
