The four of us scheduled a tasting with our guide, Noah and he was phenomenal! Chris was a very knowledgeable guide as well. The experience was top notch and we will definitely be visiting again! Also, one of the best bourbons we have tasted! The ambiance in the tasting room was definitely giving bourbon feels! Very impressive!!

Another great distillery tour, the old Rick house and grounds are expansive and beautiful. They have a great gift shop with unique items, and a really nice tasting area outside as part of the tour. And lastly, they offer free tours to military and veterans!! Cheers ! Check em out y'all!

Chris did an excellent job with our tour. I am not a bourbon drinker, but of course been on MANY tours with hubby. I recommend this tour to anyone. My husband enjoyed it as well. Staff was very knowledge and friendly in the visitor center.

This was our stop for a tour and a tasting. Really nice place but way out in the boonies! Checked in and wondered around a bit. Really nice. Tour was amazing. Lots of good info and photo ops.

Kind of out of the way to get here, but such a fun experience on our tour! This was stop #14 for us on the Bourbon Trail and it was such a treat :) Fun fact, they had the smallest rickhouse in the state! They also have regular-sized rickhouses so don't be alarmed. We found out why rickhouses and older barns were painted black. At the end of the tour we had a bourbon & rye tasting outside and it was so beautiful. I think Wilderness is the perfect name for this place and can't wait to see them grow! They also have the only moving tails box (where distillate comes out at the end of the distilling process) and that was something so unique to see.

Awesome experience with Noah as our tasting guide. I got the wheated flight and my husband got the rye one, both were good. The whole experience visiting from start to finish was wonderful. Bonus... they have a distillery cat

What a hidden gem if you're interested in distillery tours. Danville is off the beaten path and only opens 9am-5pm Tuesday - Saturday. I am a big Blue heron fan and they had an actual blue hair vodka here which blew me away. My husband's more of the whiskey drinker so it was a win win for both. Very clean facility, friendly staff, and reasonable prices for a tour and gift shop trinkets. https://www.wildernesstraildistillery.com/

6 of our family members took the winter cocktail class with Graceson (sp?) and we enjoyed it so much. Graceson was very knowledgeable about Wilderness Trail, bourbon, and cocktail making, also very personable and entertaining! We had already done the Distillery Tour last year so we were excited they had a different event for us to try. Everyone in our group enjoyed both cocktails and it was a nice balance of learning, asking questions, and visiting with one another. We would definitely come back for another class in the future! The gift shop is also worth a visit and don't forget to say hi to Cooper!

We were in town for a wedding and we didn't have time to go very far from our hotel and this place was 5 minutes from our hotel. We had such a fantastic experience and the whiskey was excellent. We will most definitely be back when we go back to town. 10/10 recommend!

So happy we added a visit to Wilderness Trail while in Louisville. Our tour guide Frank was awesome - very personable and informative. I loved hearing about the history of the distillery and touring the grounds. After touring the distillery process and Rick house, we had a tasting of bourbon, rye whiskey, rye and then single barrel bourbon followed up with the most amazing bourbon ball I have ever tasted. I also really liked the addition of the WT shot glass. Since I am a Rye drinker, Frank suggested that I try the 7 year Rye. Wow! So smooth, I couldn't leave without taking a bottle with me. Tour was 15 a person and complimentary for military. I would highly recommend venturing to Danville to visit Wilderness Trail. You won't be sorry!

Smaller distillery that I've never heard of but a super great experience! This was our first tour stop from Mint Julep. I wish we got more time here because it turned out to the the best one of the 3! The distillery is definitely on the smaller scale. We were able to go into the mash room and even looked and take pictures and smell the mash. They also took us to the bottling area/distilling area and got to taste the clear liquid before it turning into bourbon too. And got to walk thru their Rick house. At the end, we tasted in their outside room with 4 tasters. It was very good! We bought a bottle home. The tour guide was also very friendly and non scripted.

This was our first visit to Wilderness Trail and it was a beautiful fall day. Heard good reviews about it and glad we were able to check it out. The team was friendly and they have a lot of variety in their tasty product offerings. Enjoyed hearing about the background of the owners. Say hello to their distillery kitty, Cooper when you go.

This is where they store the bourbon during the aging process.

We arranged a tour of the facility in combination with a river cruise on the Kentucky River. We signed in for our tour early, so we could shop in the distillery gift shop. I spent several hundred dollars in the gift shop buying special bourbons that you can only purchase at the distillery. I even bought Buffalo Trace dog treats. Plan at least an hour for shopping as lines are long. Fred was our tour guide. Fred was knowledgeable, humorous, interesting and passionate about Buffalo Trace. We learned the history of the distillery, saw how barrels are made, transported and stored and saw the bottling process for the Blanton bourbons. We concluded our tour with a tasting of four bourbons and a sample Kentucky Bourbon Ball. Unfortunately, the tasting was a bit rushed for us. The bourbons were good and I would have liked to make additional purchases after the tasting, but we were not able to because of the timeline for the river cruise. Parking is free. The line to check ids is long but moves quickly. There are restrooms available. I'm told dogs and kids are welcome with some restrictions, but I didn't see any. The tour of Buffalo Trace should be on every bourbon drinker or history buff's bucket list. I want to go back.

For those of you doing the Bourbon Trail, each distillery offers its own mix of pros and cons. This…read morereview is just my personal opinion and should be taken with the appropriate grain of salt. The initial impression as you pull into Wild Turkey is that this is a manufacturing and industrial site first and foremost. While that does take away from the initial "wow factor" as a guest, it is understandable. Once you get past that, you arrive at the visitor center, which has a view that is absolutely incredible and outdoor amenities that would make hanging out there quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the inside experience at the gift shop left much to be desired. We did not do the tour, so this is only based on the visitor center and retail experience. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly face and directed toward the gift shop. The bartender was friendly, but the other three employees had their heads buried in their phones and did not seem concerned with our experience or offering help. While that may not be unexpected in some places, at a location like this, especially after visiting Buffalo Trace earlier in the day, it felt very subpar. The bottle selection on the shelf was fairly standard and did not feel much different from what I could find at a local liquor store. Some prices also seemed higher than local shops. Of the 15+ bottles we purchased today, none were from here. We considered trying a flight or a few samples, but the prices felt more reminiscent of a downtown bar than a distillery tasting experience. While we were not on a budget, the feeling of being overcharged deterred us from moving forward with the samples we had been interested in. I will not say that I would never go back, but I would not put this at the top of our Bourbon Trail list either, unless maybe for the views and a picnic.
