The fella and I like drinking wine and trying out new places…read more While we were in the area visiting his family, he said "....isn't there a winery around here?" To which I responded "Well, there HAS to be! And we're going!" A quick google search revealed Chateau Du Vieux Corbeau. It is just up the street from the Pioneer Playhouse and right next to a charming looking Inn. We got there around 5pm, and they are open until 6pm most days. There was only one woman working, and she was finishing up with a group already there, ringing up their purchases and chit chatting. A tasting, including all of the available wines costs only $2, and bottles are very reasonably priced. All of their wine is aged in stainless steel, as the winemaker has an oak allergy. It's an interesting thing to do. I personally love oakiness in my dry wines, so I kind of missed the flavor, but if you don't like it they have wines for you! And many of the wines don't have any added sugar. They weren't my most favorite wines, but I found several that I enjoyed! The woman running the tasting was wonderful! Friendly and very knowledgeable about the wine as well as the surrounding area, giving tips on things to do in Danville. If you are only intending on doing a tasting, bring cash since it is only $2 per person. But credit cards are accepted and a bottle is around $10. We left with 3 bottles between us! Should you want to have some wine while in Danville, I would certainly recommend paying Chateau du Vieux Corbeau!

We visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the scenery as we sat outside sipping our wine. Located just a short drive from Lexington, Harkness Edwards is checks all the boxes for a fun day out. Atmosphere, check. Views, check. Affordable, check. A variety of wines for every palette, check. We prefer our wine on the sweeter side so we went with the best sellers flight. For just $10 we received a flight of 5 different wines, These were generous pours and we presented beautifully. Once we got settled, we decided to add a charcuterie board for two. At just $20, that was a great price! It included grapes, multiple cheeses, crackers, meat and chocolates. I would've liked a bit more meat, but I understand that additional meat may have driven the price up. In addition to our flight, we also enjoyed a glass of seasonal apple cider sangria. It was light and refreshing, topped off with champagne for a bit of effervescence. Since it was such a nice day, we opted for outdoor seating to enjoy the weather and beautiful views. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. We brought personal activities to entertain ourselves, so we colored , journaled and did some reading during our time at the vineyard. Before leaving, we settled our tab and browsed in the retail area. They have many items for purchase including local honey, candles, soap, lotion and of course, wine. We purchased a bottle of our favorite wine from our flight. In addition to tours and tastings, they offer a variety of different classes. While we were there, there was a floral class going on. I would like to come back and take a class in the future. We had a wonderful outing at Harkness Edwards. The staff was very friendly, the wine and charcuterie were delicious and the atmosphere was delightful!

LITERALLY THE BEST!…read more If you are near the area or wanting to even drive a little or you're passing through I can grantee you some great drinks, food and great people! Everyone who works there is the sweetest, very knowledgeable, everyone is on one accord. They have different events, from murder mysteries to live music. Murder mysteries are 4-5 course meal that you can pair wine to, the other food within the pictures is from that event. It's so delicious perfectly paired and made. Pizza and cheese bread is delicious! We have also had the charcuterie boards. Love the chutney they use. The wine is great you can do wine tasting a tour, lots of beautiful outdoors views. You order all your food and drinks at the newly renovated bar area and they bring your food to your table. You can purchase wine by the bottle and take the bottle with you in a special sealed bag for travel, if you don't finish it at the restaurant. My wife had their Chardonnay and I had a Blue Stallion Oktoberfest. For dinner, my wife had the Chicken Salad Croissant with Homemade Chips and I had the Hearth Burger with Homemade Chips. Both were very good. The Jenkins Twins were the live music tonight and they were great. I took a picture of their upcoming music talent for January and first part of February.

Nestled away in the heart of Bluegrass horse country, this is a classic gem. Defined by elegant and…read morestylish classicalism, yet not overbearing, This place has an air of sophistication without pretension. The grounds are beautiful and expansive, stretched out under a big beautiful sky. Parking is ample. I attended with my wife and my son and his wife. We came to see a friend perform live jazz. We did a wine tasting. I was disappointed that the tasting only consisted of three offerings. It seemed a little shy for the price point. After the tasting, we settled on Afterglow, a very sweet wine. The four of us enjoyed our purchase while we sat at a picnic table in the courtyard and enjoyed the jazz. The wine prices themselves were very reasonable and the selection was robust. This proved to be a great place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. We will be back. This place gets five stars from me. (Still wish a tasting was four or five offerings instead of three.)

The scenery, atmosphere, and overall property create a relaxing environment that feels very "Kentucky wine country." The staff was also incredibly friendly, welcoming, and wonderful with families and kids. The gift shop and tasting space itself functionally was not laid out in a way that made the experience especially easy or comfortable to enjoy. For those of you interested in tastings, there is nowhere comfortable to sit during the tasting process, unless you want to trade into plastic cups and head outside. This unintentionally created a rushed feeling, even though the staff themselves never pressured us. As for the wines, I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, Equestrian Series, and Crimson Cabernet. I personally tend to lean towards drier, more robust wines, these felt fairly lackluster overall and lacked the depth and balance I personally look for in a wine that can either stand confidently on its own or pair beautifully with food. A few of the sweeter wines others in my group sampled came across far more grape-forward than expected and reminded me more of juice than a refined wine experience. (My overall impression was they paired more with $10 bottles than the prices that were asked) While the staff was clearly well-intentioned and friendly, the overall tasting experience lacked some of the seriousness, polish, and professionalism that you would expect from a true leader in the wine space. We had to request that glasses be emptied and cleaned between tastings, water was never offered between pours, and some of the finer details that elevate a winery experience simply felt overlooked. That said, this place has a lot of potential. Between the scenery, atmosphere, and welcoming team, I could absolutely see why Talon Winery would become a favorite spot for locals or visitors looking for a casual afternoon outing. However, for those looking for a polished, elevated "Napa-style" wine experience, this may not quite be the home run I had hoped it would be.

It truly takes you out of the hustle and bustle of a busy workweek. They have a very nice koi pong outside with a spot to sip wine near by. Now for the wines! I must say I liked every wine I tried. I especially enjoyed a states berry basil wine and a mango wine. They are absolutely perfect for summer and non of the wines are overly sweet which is appreciated. So much all you taste is what was added vs the wine. The owners are a husband and wife team and I couldn't love that more. They truly put their heart and soul into the wine, production, down to the selection of the grapes. The name is a nod to their time in Japan. As them about it! Can't wait to come back on a nice day for another glass. It's a little far out for me but worth the adventure!
