We groaned as at most places buffet food is always dry or undercooked. Yet somehow Silverthorn managed to perfect their Lasagna & Shrimp Scampi. They were moist & flavorful. I do have to say the Chicken Parmesan was a little dry, but we can ignore that as it was still delicious. There was a fresh mixed salad and a fresh pasta salad. Both were served with a dressing that did not over power & did not make the salads soggy. Both salads were delicious. The rolls at the buffet were very good & served warm. We asked the server Caleb for butter & he delivered by bringing out a bowl of individually wrapped pats of butter & placed it at the buffet table with the rolls. Caleb was a rock star as he accommodated everyone's questions & needs. He was always smiling, friendly & all around pleasant. We are looking forward to the next event.

It is about 5 miles from there. It is a Pete Dye course and is rated by Golf Week as one of the top 100 residential courses in the US. It has. 20,000 sf clubhouse perched on a hill with expansive views of the course. The course has elevation changes of 200 feet and a driving range always stocked with balls. If you have an Exec Golf card you can get a good discount.

I have to admit that some of the landscape improvements they've made to this golf course are better than any of the landscaping in my neighborhood and I live in a very nice neighborhood! At first, I was not a big fan of the restrictive geo-fencing that keeps us closer to the middle of the fairway (I don't tend to hit the ball in the middle of the fairway, ha ha) but I appreciate the owners wanting to improve the course and protect the bunker and grass near them. We are in a state of drought right now and the course is amazingly good shape given the head don't have full water. If you have never played here, I highly recommend that you try it. Some of the holes are easier than others and some of the other holes are very challenging so it's an interesting golf course. Thank you to the owners for making investments in our community. The only thing that was good was the omelet station. The beef from the carving station was extremely rare, the chicken piccata and mashed potatoes were ice cold - no one was checking to see if the sternos on the chafing dishes were still lit (they weren't), and the desserts left a lot to be desired. Certainly not worth $45 per person plus a very generous tip. Our total bill was over $400! My entire family thought it was a terrible experience. I remember years ago it was the place to go for special occasions and the food was very good back then. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

The disappointing part has been the upkeep of the course. I played the course in December and again this week and the greens are in very rough shape. They are patchy with seed speckled throughout. I realize it's been dry but several other nearby courses are keeping their greens well managed. The infuriating part was the pompous and belligerently rude ranger. The guy was a total jerk and everyone in my group (a group of guys I didn't know before the round) spoke to his demeaning behavior. I'm certainly no cupcake and the fellas I was playing with were physicians and a business owner, so I doubt they are either. We simply expected to be treated with respect. If you want a nice course just swing over to TPC or Dunedin, or save some cash and play Crescent Oaks right around the corner.

There's a little cafe setup for parents to hangout and relax a bit while their kids play and socialize (coffee, tea, soft drinks for purchase). There are even charging stations throughout incase some work needs to get done. In the middle there is a little table for around 6-8 kids and healthy snacks for purchase. The space is large enough to have a great time but not sooooo big that you feel exhausted trying to keep up. There are: - Reading nooks throughout with beautiful books for baby to child - discovery centers with busy boards and even a wind tunnel - construction zone - auto-body shop - play kitchen - baby doll nursery - cafe and market - a vet clinic - a huge soft slide to climb and play on (and under!) I know I'm still missing things but it's really well done. Darling wooden play materials throughout, Clean, organized, with lovely staff who love what they do.
