If I could give less than a star I would! The Mother's Day Brunch was terrible. I was with family I hadn't seen in a few years - 8 of us altogether at the 1:00 seating. The only thing that was good was the omelet station. The beef from the carving station was extremely rare, the chicken piccata and mashed potatoes were ice cold - no one was checking to see if the sternos on the chafing dishes were still lit (they weren't), and the desserts left a lot to be desired. Certainly not worth $45 per person plus a very generous tip. Our total bill was over $400! My entire family thought it was a terrible experience. I remember years ago it was the place to go for special occasions and the food was very good back then. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

Fox Hollow has always been one of the premiere public courses in the Bay area. The course is set against a stunning backdrop and plays difficult but not crazy impossible by any means. Over the past decade I've played here numerous times and rarely been disappointed. However, the past two visits have been wildly disappointing and even infuriating. The disappointing part has been the upkeep of the course. I played the course in December and again this week and the greens are in very rough shape. They are patchy with seed speckled throughout. I realize it's been dry but several other nearby courses are keeping their greens well managed. The infuriating part was the pompous and belligerently rude ranger. The guy was a total jerk and everyone in my group (a group of guys I didn't know before the round) spoke to his demeaning behavior. I'm certainly no cupcake and the fellas I was playing with were physicians and a business owner, so I doubt they are either. We simply expected to be treated with respect. If you want a nice course just swing over to TPC or Dunedin, or save some cash and play Crescent Oaks right around the corner. read more

This review is for their restaurant only. We recently moved to the area & ventured in on the advice of a friend. Nice little restaurant with a lovely view of the gold course & ponds. We've heard that the service is hit or Miss but we've been happy with ours both times. On this occasion, we started out with the soup of the day, Sausage Bean & Potato. Vey good. My husband had the wings without breading, ordered crispy. He thought they were perfect. I had the half portion of the House Chopped Salad which was a very generous portion. Since our kitchen is under renovation, we'll probably be heading there in the next few days again. Prices are reasonable, food is great, & the atmosphere is bright, so why not? read more

It would have been a decent golf course for some scenic view, challenging course layout and staff were nice. However, we arrived earlier than the tee time to make time for some practice and there were no golf carts available. NO CARTS AVAILABLE not until almost 10mins. after the tee time. We went there on a Wednesday noon time and the pace was sooooo Slow, it took us 5hours in the course still on the 15th hole. And when the staff were advised halfway they just said it was packed that is why it is slow. It would have been nice to have the rangers be on top of the course play making sure every group play on the allotted time pace of the game. read more

A little wordy but I want to give full context to my 2 review. My coworkers and I decided to play Fox Hollow on Veterans Day - we're 20+ handicap players but we've all been around the game for several years now. Our tee time was 915am and we were on time for our round. We tee'd off behind a threesome, who obviously played faster than us, and we had a threesome behind us. By the second hole we noticed the threesome was behind us was keeping pace, so on the third hole we tee'd off and pulled our carts to the side. When the threesome came up to the tee box we told them to play through - as they were playing faster than we were - one gentleman in their group refused and said they were playing with the two groups behind them and they wanted to finish at the same time. We asked them again, just to clarify that they didn't want to play through, and the same gentleman said no and told us we should pick up our pace of play. Our group thought it was odd, but we continued to play our round. At the 7th tee box we were met by a course ranger who stopped us and told us there was a complaint from the group behind us for slow play. We informed the ranger as a group of four, we can't play as fast as a group of three - and we informed him that our offer to let their group play through was denied. The course ranger told us that he spoke with the pro shop about it and the decision was that our group had to play faster and that our offer to their group didn't matter. At this point our group decided to play best ball and just move along. (For clarity, our group was not drinking, we weren't on the course goofing off, we were just playing our typical round trying to enjoy our day off together). We figured if we played best ball, we could get a hole or two in front of the group behind us and forget about them - we even skipped stopping at the turn for drinks and snacks. We played the remainder of the 18 holes with the threesome right behind us - which I. My opinion tells me they were playing a scramble or best ball themselves, but that's just my opinion. We finished our round in 4 hours, being pushed the entire time. When we we done, the group approached us at the clubhouse to apologize for "how things were handled" on the course. One of the gentleman told us they were members of Fox Hollow, and they they play together three times per week, and they all like to finish together. To me, the bottom line was we had three selfish golfers behind us who used their standing as members of the club to rush our group off the course so they could play at their pace. We wouldn't have cared if their three groups played through, we were there to have a good time. I felt like the failure of the staff to recognize that they could have solved their issue with common sense reasoning, and told the threesome to play though if they wanted a faster pace. The only complaint that was received by staff was that their members weren't playing as fast as they like and they refused to play through on two offers on the front 9. We enjoyed the course, the greens were in relatively good shape, we liked the layout, there was plenty of wildlife to see - but we won't be back. In twenty-five tears of playing golf around the greater Tampa Bay area, I've never had this experience with other golfers (offering to let a group play through, them refusing to take the offer, then reporting us to the pro shop), and I hope I don't have to in the future. read more

The green was all messed up. It not worth the $100 green fee. We will never golf there again.

Great course, however on thanksgiving morning I had a Tee time booked through Golf Now for 18 holes for $38 as a listed discount "hot deal" When I arrived to check in they told me they made a mistake listing prices and that was for 9 holes. I was told I had to pay $75 to play 18. They did not honor their price and ruined a Thanksgiving morning and cooking schedule. Normally I would chalk it up to a mistake but the fact that they refused to make it right for their F*** up speaks volumes of the management and owners. Also putting 2 groups of 2 walkers each in front of a single with a cart shows incompetence on the starter. I would advise going down the road to Seven Springs or Crescent Oaks. read more

Rating a golf course is tough. From the amenities to the clubhouse to the service and obviously to the course itself (practice facility, grass type, design, greens, maintenance, etc)...there is a TON to factor into a golf club. The reason for my high rating of this club is because it may be one of the best designed courses in the entire "Tampa Bay" area, is very cheap considering and is in fantastic shape with damn good greens that roll true. Where this course sets itself apart is it's design and character. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, you're not going to get this type of character from a course around here unless you spend well over $100. RTJ is one of the all-time great course designers and he did an elegant job here that you only have to spend $40 to play. Fox Hollow is unquestionably the best course around for the money! read more

Played a round on a recent Friday afternoon and things weren't too bad, somewhat slow pace of play, until we arrived on the Par 3 number 12 tee box. There were 4 groups on this hole. We called the pro shop to let them know what the situation was and JACK said he would send someone out. Well you guessed it, nobody came out to help us. Apparently, neither management nor JACK gives a damn about lying to customers or any negative experience players may have when out on the course. This is very typical here, rarely is anyone monitoring on course activities or issues. Even with the reduced summer rates of $45 green fees, you expect and should receive courteous service. After this, too frustrating to go in the restaurant for a meal or drinks. Won't play Fox Hollow again and will tell all my friends not to either. This golf course is one of the best maintained in the area. It's a challenging course with some beautiful architecture - and an occasional gator viewing as well! The rangers are visible on the course and do their best to keep things moving. A beer at the Grille is always cold afterwards as well! read more

Usually solid but everything is dropping off. Waited 45 minutes and our food wasn't even out yet. The waitress was more concerned about getting the 20 people who showed up afterwards by at least 10 minutes their beer and spending another 10 minutes putting in their orders into the computer. Ran by once telling us it would be out shortly and then nothing for another 15 minutes. The owner is allowing this place to go downhill quickly. I use to be a regular, now a last resort. read more

Great golf course but the starter/cart boy is a crabby Gestopo Nazi. This ignorant *rick got in a cart to berate me for not waiting in the scorching sun as he "told me to do" because after a few mins I drove towards the 1st tee to sit in the shade. He actually got in a cart and drove 100 yds to bitch at me. Hey buddy, it's not my fault you can't get a better job than being the guy that cleans the beer cans and cups out of the golf carts. Guess you forgot the fact that I was a paying customer. All other employees here are wonderful friendly people. read more

If Yelp supported a negative star rating I would give this place a -5 rating. As required by Yelp, I could not proceed this posting/review without giving it at least a star; what a shame and waste of a star. It started out with me arriving at the first tee box 5 minutes before my tee time and a starter was no where to be found. As I approached the tee box with another couple, the starter arrived and instructed me to drop my bag and wait for another golfer who is en route so I can ride with him. I mentioned to the starter that since I was on time shouldn't that person put his bag on my cart? Oh boy, how dare I question the supreme ruler of Fox Hollow? The starter raised his voice to announce his supreme authority and instructed me to remove my bag off the cart. Not to make a big deal and have the starter possibly have an aneurysm I dropped my bag and waited for the other golfer to arrive. Then I got to the first fairway of "The Champions Club" to find water, at least 3 to 5 inches, on the cart path and a little less in the rough. It has been 6 days since the course experienced some rain so shouldn't a course with such high review of itself acquired a better drainage system? I recently moved to Tampa and looking for a club to join, other golfers recommended that I give Fox Hollow a try. Based on this first and long lasting impression, I wouldn't play here again if they offered a free round. Don't waste your time and money. read more

If you're a golfer in Tampa, Fox Hollow is a place you must play! We have been members for quite a while and are rarely disappointed with anything; it has you have everything you need. Great service getting your clubs in and out of the car, great driving range with many greens to aim at, great pro shop with solid deals and promos and a great restaurant to enjoy a snack at the turn or lunch after your round. The cart girls on the course make sure you don't go too long without a beverage and are very good about etiquette. The course has 5 different tee boxes- so perfect for all levels, and the pin placement changes constantly with blue/white/red flags to easily differentiate. The practice area offers a large range with bunkers, a putting green, and a chipping green with bunkers as well. My only warning- watch out for the gators. read more

This is an under played gem that's reasonably priced fir the quality. The course is in excellent condition with a few minor drainage issues. Greens are very fast with lots of slopes. Definitely one of the top courses in the bay area. read more

I've played this course often - one of the better courses in the area. Up until today - every staff member encountered was friendly and showed appreciation for your business. However - yesterday I encountered "Tom" the Starter. After being MIA for about 15 minutes - "Tom" appeared on the scene. As I checked in I asked him how many groups were in front of us.... his response "I'll call you". I followed that up with... could you tell me if you're running on time?... his response..."I'll call you". Again - I like the course - and have never encountered this type of rudeness before. With so many golf alternatives in the area - I would urge Fox Hollow to reconsider letting "Tom" interact with customers. read more

Fox Hollow Golf Club is a beautiful course. Very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant food and service was wonderful!

Fairways were good. Greens were pocked. The bunkers were absolutely horrible. They were not maintained, and had old packed footprints, and even had grass growing out of many bunkers. I do not recommend playing here, as many munis are much better. read more

This was my first time playing the course. It was a great track, with moderate difficulty; however, nothing too outlandish. I lost three balls, two were due to poorly executed shots and one was due to poorly maintained areas/grooming. All of that said, I was very surprised we were even let out onto the course, due to the extremely wet/soggy conditions. What's more, I was really shocked how much they charged for a course that was in such less than desirable playing condition ($53.45), the course in its current condition is maybe worth $30. Of course we were not aware just how much rain this course had received until after we had paid and spoke with the starter. Not only did the starter tell us it was cart path only, but in just one day they received 8" of rain, plus the normal daily downfall. Poor drainage throughout the course! Even though it cart path only, you could not walk out to your ball on most holes without sinking to the tops of your shoes, and god forbid you hit a shot without picking it clean of the ground; (no divots or your covered in muck), the jury is still out whether or not my golf shoes will need to be tossed. At a minimum, this course should have offered a discounted rate, bounce back passes or a return discounted round. This course had no business being open in the wet condition it was in and/or should have at least warned us prior to paying and gave us the option to canx. read more

A great course to play golf on. Beautiful scenery and a few challenges here and there. This is one of the better golf courses I've played and though, it was about a half hour drive for me, was worth the trip. Will return to play another round in the coming weeks. read more
