If you are a tea person, you will love this spot! To begin it exudes tranquility. There is bar seating and tables available in a quiet area. There is also a separate tea ceremony space. They have an extensive selection of teas, ranging a variety of flavors and blends. The staff was extremely helpful in finding blends we would enjoy. It's a great place to try out new teas and you can even buy loose leaf!

This was such a fun find in Berkeley! We came after wanting to try something different that didn't involve alcohol and tea sounded perfect. Good: - The private room was really good! We got out own private spot for about an hour and thirty minutes - The service was great - we had our own tea steeper and had enough tea for the entire time - Loved the duck s*** tea and the dragon tea and puerh tea, super tasty and we even tried mixing it a lot - The place is so cute! Very relaxing Bad: - Gets super busy, so make a reservation ahead of time! Overall, really enjoyed having the time to sit and relax and be present with me and my boyfriend!

it is a teaspot in the corner of a road. it is enough to accommodate some people with nice ambiance. they have so many variants of tea and you can just refill with hot water that needs to be cooked through their electric kettles. i think this shop is only for tea lovers who want to enjoy drink tea through small cups like a ceremonial one. no cold tea provided...

Tea lovers dream in Berkeley! I stumbled across this tea spot while searching for Matcha. I adored the large selection of teas including black, white, green from across the world. You can order a cup or a pot to share with friends and enjoy your tea together. There is also a tea bar service where you can order your drinks to go or they also have a large retail section where you could buy the loose leaf to brew at home yourself. It is a great way to try different teas while having a comfortable place to connect with friends I'm looking forward to spending more time here in the future. What a lovely find!

This place is amazing. TBH it's not in the best neighborhood, but the moment you enter the store you enter into a different world. The tea smells so good, and the ambiance is so calm. We tried the duck s**t oolong and black sticky rice. They are very different but both good. The oolong had a more earthy flavor, while the black sticky rice really smelled like sticky rice! We loved the tea so much that everyone bought some packed tea home. This place is such a perfect location spend time with people you like/love. They also allow you to bring in your own food. I'd go back again if I'm ever in Berkeley.

Loved the Duck Shit tea here -- so good! The staff shared the stories behind the tea and patiently showed us how to brew it. Had such a lovely time chatting and sipping tea with friends. Can't wait to come back and try more

We had gotten a recommendation to visit this place from a friend and it did not disappoint. My partner and I were offered a choice of seating in the main dining hall , bar, outside or communal area but it was a busy time so the immediate space they had open was the communal so we sat there. The ambiance was very green with plants, wonderful pictures , great lighting , and pretty tea sets that adorned the entire room. We went ahead and tried the basic teas as we wanted to experience the tea time experience and it was very good. We will be back to try the matcha and hojicha! If you like tea time and want to take company to have a nice drink, highly recommend this place! They also take reservations so if you want a table, I recommend calling ahead to get a spot secured !

Beautiful beautiful beautiful. I feel such a mixture of happy and calm whenever I'm here. The ambience in itself is unexplainable, I love coming here to read or journal. Absolutely adore being able to experience this place, and brewing tea at my own table. The tea here is STRONG! The staff are sweet and knowledgeable, and very happy to help. I've had the white teas thus far and highly recommend :)

Nice little spot tucked away from the busy street traffic. Many different teas to choose from or take a flight of 3. There is seating inside, including a tea bar. Or take to go and sit outside. No food, just tea.

Such a lovely space! Atmosphere and seating arrangements are wonderful. The servers Sabrina and Corrine are excellent and kind. The tea is high quality and worth savoring for an afternoon.

Tea so good I forgot alcohol even existed Cute shop, very friendly staff. We ordered two tea flights (Just Oolong for the Ride and Put some sugar on me) - personally favs were Charcoal Tieguanyin and Jasmine Pearls! Would def come back!!

As tea lovers, my companion and I had wanted to try Blue Willow Teaspot for the longest time! From the second we stepped in, a feeling of calmness came over me and I enjoyed the hours spent sipping on their tea. The interior somewhat reminded me of a Japanese tea house. You feel zen surrounded by the plants, tea-inspired decor, and wooden furniture. There are several tables to sit, work, study, and chat at. WiFi is available and it's a popular spot for workers. Depending on the day and time, reservations or time limits may be necessary. I will say that the service wasn't the best. It took 30 minutes for our tea to come out. The worker messed up on our order and gave it to us regardless which was nice, but still. This is a desirable spot for tea lovers. The menu is expansive with various tea types and tea grades. I was overwhelmed by the options so went with familiarity--Hojicha Latte with Oat Milk and Chai Latte with Oat Milk for us both. You could taste the strong flavor of both teas. It wasn't traditional nor the best I've had but still good. We also shared a pastry--it was fine but a bit drier and cold. Other diners had tea pots which looked super cute so maybe next time I'll go for that. For those seeking a relaxing or calming atmosphere to work or talk, Blue Willow Teaspot is charming and tucked in Northwest Berkeley off Tenth Street. There's free street parking around the area. With how close it is to my home, I'd come back for another work day!

So delicious! This is an amazing tea place with very relaxing vibes and everything felt very authentic. I got their iced matcha latte and my friend got a regular matcha bowl and both were delicious. I also bought the marukyu koyamaen matcha powder from here for about $34!

Do they serve any snacks or food?

We have locally made pastries from Firebrand, Osakaya and Ichigo Ichie

Is this a spot I can work/study while drinking the tea or is it better for quiet/social time?

Hi! You can totally work and study. We just caution people that weekends are not the best time for that since they're usually busier. So during the week is best timing

Hi there! Can I bring some non-hot food? Like sandwiches or something?

    I do it often!

How many of the marukyu koyamaen Matcha do you carry for tasting?

Hi, we have 3 currently: Shohaku, Kinrin and Tsubokiri

Are there usually available spots on the private lot?

Hi, I'm not sure what the private lot is, but it's usually easy to find a spot during the week and best to make a reservation on the weekends. Reservations for the specific…

Can you reserve a private room for yourself?

Hi, yes you can. There's a reservation fee and you can bring however many (or few) people you want. The Japanese tea room can seat 4 max and the private tasting room can seat up to 6

Do you carry chrysanthemum herbal tea?

Hi! Unfortunately we don't have chrysanthemum tea :( I've been trying to find a good quality organic one for a long time.

They have an extensive menu of tea, I decided to get the black mango tea, which is indicated as high caffeine. They told me to keep it to less than 1 min steeping or else it gets oversteeped. They were prompt with coming out with my tea leaves and teapot, and gave me a towel to put your teapot on in case of spills It was bitter, but definitely has the fruity notes I was seeking. I was able to make several potfuls of tea which still had some flavor in them, so the leaves seemed to do well with re-steeping. They provided me with a kettle so I could continually reboil the water, so I felt it was decent value (since total it cost only slightly more than the average boba costs nowadays). I'm thinking I'd like to get the lychee or hojicha next time. The worker didn't mention to me if they offer milk, which I wish they did. But they do sell snacks. The bathroom is clean. They have free wifi but the day I was there, unfortunately they were having issues with the wifi. They have a 2 hour time limit on weekends, but no limit on weekdays. I appreciate that they have outdoor seating, for those who are airborne illness conscious, and also so you can enjoy nature and sunshine while having your tea. A lovely spot overall, right on San Pablo Ave so you can take the 72 bus lines to reach it.

It is such a vibe. There's street parking (limited) we ended up parking 10 mins away from a public parking spot. We got the four seasons tea (they charge $3 per extra person for a cup) so for us two, it was only $3 extra on top of cost of the tea. We ended up spending $20 for tea for us both and the little snacks (pineapple bites and mochi). For the experience I'd say the pricing was worth it and especially if you are a tea connoisseur. Keep in mind, if you do go, you have to talk quietly since it's a quiet ambient atmosphere

I especially appreciate that they have genmaicha, which can be harder to find. Their version has a distinct roasted tea flavor that doesn't taste watered down, which I love. Their strawberry matcha is also delicious, with a fresher, juicier strawberry flavor than a lot of other spots. I would honestly give this location 5 stars based on the drinks and regular barista interactions alone, but my last experience was really off-putting. I noticed that people often study there with laptops, so I came in with mine and brought a small lunch from Oori down the street to make a morning out of it. I've done this before without issue, but this time, a woman with crazy eyes who seemed to have a higher role came out and very abruptly scolded me, saying, "You CAN'T eat outside food here," while aggressively pointing toward the door as if I needed to leave immediately. I completely understand having a no-outside-food policy, and I would have had no problem following it if it had been communicated respectfully. But the way she approached me felt unnecessarily harsh and honestly pretty upsetting. I apologized right away, packed everything up in a panic, and left. After processing it, I realized how inappropriate the interaction felt for something that could have been addressed with a simple, polite reminder. Overall, Asha has great matcha, a cute space, and friendly baristas, but that experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. Just a heads up: the drinks are good, but you may want to be careful about bringing outside food in, because the policy might be enforced in a pretty unpleasant way.
